I'm going to make one commit about this player then I'm done. There's generally more to transfers than we know. I don't know who it is and don't care, but if he is 6'2" a 173 lbs going into the 8th grade he will never be a running back in high school especially if he has not gone through puberty. Yes you can have your own rules they don't belong to a national organization. If you play an outside team the coaches work out differences. You can change the by-laws but its not easy. The board members each have a vote and each team had 2 votes. Flag use to have one. As you can imagine there a lot of opinions. I speak in past tense because things could have changed.

That is correct. They went back to the old rule, can't advance the ball if you weigh over 145 lbs. I haven't said much about it but that rule needs to be updated. To the credit of the JFL Board and coaches, they have done a wonderful job of continuing the upgrades to the complex. The field is now lighted which you know is extremely expensive. I just hope they can sustain the class numbers in the future to have enough teams to play. That was the main reason in the first place to go to middle school teams.

I would guess it's because of the JFL. They apparently have or had enough players to go back to the old days where they play within the system which does away with the middle school teams. High School coaches thought it was a better idea if everyone got to play instead of 15 or so on 8th grade team. Parents must think they have the next D-1 player and lost sight of why they are there in the first place. I haven't heard of any transfers but that doesn't mean anything.

7 on 7 went well when weather permitted. Russell won the 7 on 7 tournament at Lewis Co. I’m not quite sure what hidden talent you are referring to. You certainly can’t make any predictions or conclusions from passing league. Russell has 3 or 4 good receivers who can make the worst wobbly duck look good. The only problem is getting them the ball in order to open up the offense, which means the offense will remain basically the same. I believe the defense will be much improved against the pass once they have worked together for a while.

It seems like there are only a few Russell supporters with computers or willing to pay $15. Russell imo will be fun to watch this year. They have an abundance of receivers and backs which leads to the first problem, an experienced QB. Maybe passing league will help. The second problem will be the OL. After seeing some of the boys they have been hitting the weights and I was quite surprised. I think Russell will be better than most think. I look for them to be a bit more creative in the offensive department.

Come on Coupon when was the last time Greenup wasn’t looking for a coach of some kind in the off season. The “fan resistance” has got to be the worst in the state. How many coaches have been polarized by Greenup fans, supporters, and administration. Let’s take the current football threads as an example. The new coach isn’t even here yet and already posters have mandated weightlifting, selected the starting lineups, and decided what kind of offense to run. Lets face it Greenup won’t have a ten year coach in the distant future.

Thats funny. Just about as funny as thinking experienced refs could win a game for Russell.
