ryanparker Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Russell visits Ironton's Tank Memorial Stadium this Friday for the first time since 1992. Russell last beat them there in 1977. Ironton holds the overall series lead 20-3-1. From everything I have read, this is one of Ironton's better teams in a while. Ironton kicked off their season by beating rival Wheelersburg for the first time in 3 years and it looks like Ironton fans are confident about what this season might bring. Does Russell pull off the upset of the year or does Ironton reestablish their dominance over Russell after a 17 year hiatus?
Ram Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I wish Russell luck and hope they can pull off the upset. But, I really think Ironton will win this one. But, this could be a part of a the maturing process for Russell. Russell may loose the game, but will benefit greatly by playing it.
Commander 25 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I sure hope that Russell puls this one off but I think Ironton wins this one good luck Russell.
heath91 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I will be pulling for the Devils here, but I think this will be more than they can handle this year. Ironton seems to be back on track and firing on all cylinders. Russell has done good so far, but they have yet to face anyone at Ironton's level. I really hope they prove me wrong, I'm tired of watching KY teams fall to these guys.
oldrambler Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I agree with Ram in that it will help Russell and they will get better by playing better people. Ironton imo just will have too much for Russell this season. Ironton.OH - 38 Russell - 6
Graybeard Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) Russell hasn't been willing to play Ironton for many, many years. I think we're going to see why. Ironton by as many as they want. I am happy to see Russell step-up and play a good team. Edited August 31, 2009 by Graybeard
sidelinedoc Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Symmes Valley not available? Ironton will spank the Devils. I just hope Russell avoids injury and lives to play another day.

They saw that Ashland/Raceland game Friday and tried to get another game with Raceland on the schedule instead.:sssh: I too think that Ironton will win. Hope the Devils come out and play hard from the first whistle to the last.

bluekyblue Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Smackdown coming to Devils by the way of the I Tigers. Devils will be Tigerbait.
Play 2 Win Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Hasn't been willing? I think it was more of a scheduling issue than willingness. Russell hasn't been willing to play Ironton for many, many years. I think we're going to see why. Ironton by as many as they want. I am happy to see Russell step-up and play a good team.
Cubster Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 It is just Year 1 of a four-year contract. Tomcats have been real successful the past 17 years with the Tigers.:jump::banana::laugh::sssh:
spindoc Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Smackdown coming to Devils by the way of the I Tigers. Devils will be Tigerbait. Hope the score isn't as lopsided in favor of the Tigers as the Russell/Greenup score. But it may be.
