  1. Well congradulations to the boys that made it for small school all area. We are so proud that these boys were recognized. I am going to be mean though if you noticed in my post about the Daily Independent i predicted that it would come on a paper that not everyone get or buys. What a surprise i was right. Thank you to all for supporting these boys and pushing for them to get some attention. If you noticed on the BGP all-state two from Russell and thats it. I am going to be happy in the fact that we know how good they were.
  2. Horrible. Would it hurt to have a few players looked at around here. Congradulations to the Russell players. I would have thought on the BGP that you would have looked at the bigger picture and selected the athletes from a bigger selection of schools.
  3. From my understanding this is a voted on thing by the coaches.
  4. I know i am going to be the complainer but here goes. Congradulations to all the large school guys that made it. To the Daily Indepedent that had to be the one of the worst decisions i have seen you make. Why not put them both in the paper. Is the small schools going to get a small corner in lets say Tuesdays paper? If you think i am aggrevated wait until the Russell folks start on you. Anyway in regards to the ones that were in the paper again congradulations. To the paper could you please just for once get it right and put them all in at the same time. Everyone would like to see all the guys on a paper that mostly everyone gets. (The Sunday paper). Sermon done, Merry Christmas to our BGP family and the support you all have given these fine boys and their coaches all year long.
  5. Anyone heard any word on all district? How about the other All-states coming out? Just curious.
  6. There is nothing wrong with AP all-state as long as the voters vote in good conscience and know that they have seen these boys play. If this was their selection then they have to live with their vote. They have to answer if they didnt even see the child hit the field. I do not want to take anything away from the ones that made it. I am sure they are riding on cloud nine and i dont blame them. It will always be debated if the facts line up. You cant rightly vote for kids that they never saw play if you dont want it to be questioned. I do think this is a thread worth hearing because the boys that didnt get the vote are getting credit with us here. As far as our local paper this is been an issue for years and I personally am from the home town and coached in the home town and i think i have a good opinion on our local paper that wants to reach out to our area for sales and backing but is not reaching out to these schools and supporting them. That said, Merry Christmas to those on BGP. I am proud to talk with all of you young and old alike and for the most part we are a positive group of people that love our teams. We just get a little competitive now and then. God Bless
  7. The greatest fan is so correct. We had several boys that made records this year. The paper usually got blasted once a week about the fact most of the time our team didnt get coverage at regular games. An example is when the book came out featuring the teams. The home town team got up to date pictures and a two to four page spread. We got two pages. One page had pictures from last year when Thomas Tolliver played. The information wasnt even current. Thank you to all for recognizing our boys. I guess all i can say is I am not bitter at the boys that made it. I can imagine how they feel to look at this and think they didnt deserve it. We just feel like our paper should have really looked at our boys also. When you beat several times some twice and their players make it on you start to wonder.
  8. I know i will get in big trouble for this statement but size shouldnt mean everything for recruiting and AP all-state. This is a homer comment but the Rams beat Paris two times in a row and the boys hammered him both times. The Rams has no one his size and in particular the guys that was taking him down was all of 6 feet 200 pounds. I guess that is why i cant understand no vote for Raceland. I do however hope that coaches can take a player to another level. Forgive me for my opinion but there it is.
  9. There were talk on the other thread about all-state that there are several different all-states then the all district and all area. No one can seem to pin down a date for any of those. Does anyone know?
  10. I think we should be careful. I talked to two of the players yesterday after the paper had come out and their comments stated that I guess we are not good enough. I guess it wouldnt have mattered if we would have won state. They read these posts and I would be discouraged too. I wished everyone would take a deep breath(me included) and say a little prayer for these boys that they do not give up. That they remember its not about awards its about the love of the game. The friends they made from the other schools. Its one paper. Its one opinion. Your memories and what you do will last a life-time.
  11. This needs to be considered, when coaches(head coaches)from our area teams cannot understand the vote and some flat out disagree with it wouldnt you say there is something wrong. It is hard to explain how one feels when talking to the Russell, Ashland, Johnson Central, etc.. Coaches and they say the say thing that is being said on here. Does people dispute their own coaches. I still say Congradulations to the boys that made it. My opinion stands on record that some other boys should have got a look. They earned it. If no one believes me than by all means go to your coaches and ask about these kids. They will tell you the same.
  12. Its my hope that a couple of these guys whether its from the Rams or another team that didnt make it for whatever reason gets recognized. I know there are two more(i think) all-state teams and then theres the all-district and all area. I sure would like to give some of these kids a chance to get that pat on the back.
  13. As far as what OldRambler said, I believe his words meant Forrest was in these guys league as far as LB. Also, if you ask people like OldRambler where he gets his facts or information from and he will tell you its from the coaches from the other teams. Ashland, Russell, etc.. have all mentioned kids like Forrest. Its not just a homer thing.
  14. I can agree with what your saying. I am just saying the Rams didnt get one honorable mention.
  15. Looking back at our threads we have supported all our opposing teams and players except of course when we are playing them. We have prayed for their safety and a good game. Being involved at a big school and then watching a smaller school i have seen first hand how a small school has to fight to get attention for its players. I apologize for any Ram fan that you thought was dogging the players. I know in my heart all statements are just out of dissappointment that not one player was even looked at. It was certainly not meant to take away from a player that did.
  16. All of my family is from Ashland. I have umpired and coached different things at Ashland for years. I know you are a die hard Ashland fan. We are not trying to dog Ashland. I have always supported Ashland. We just think the media needs to take a look at some outstanding players for this year. I will not go on record and say someone didnt deserve it. I think from Ashland maybe Matt Thomas should have got a look and he didnt. If no one got it from Ashland and Ashland had an outstanding record and District Champs would you not be a tad bit dissappointed. I think you would because i have looked at some of your posts and you defend Ashland to the end. Thats all the Raceland Fans are doing is defending some players that should have been looked at.
  17. It didnt. We wanted to congradulate Kasey due to most on this thread know him personally and have watched him play. His brother is a teacher and coach at Raceland. We also agree that if some of the ones you named would not have made it you would be wondering why. In addition if you read the thread most was for encouragement to the boys to keep their head up and keep working hard that they will be rewarded in different ways. We are just saying how proud we are of some of the boys and that in our hearts they did make it.
  18. Needed to edit that and put sacks and not tackles. I didnt want to mis-quote something that information had come from a coach.
  19. Congrads to Kasey. I also agree with the J. T. vote. Its a shame. They really should go with the facts. J. T. played unbelievable games. When you get hit by Forrest you know you have been hit. Grizzle made some great playes. Thompson has the most tackles this season along with three touchdowns as a lineman and Caldwells blocks and D were great. I am prejudice but cant we get a break for our boys.
  20. i really do not think any of these comments are aimed toward the kids however it is true some of this players are holding records for most tackles, yards, etc. Some of these players have been in their local papers everytime they wrote up an article about the game and still they were overlooked. Would you not think there is something wrong? There should not be the my boy. It should be whose on the paper. Who played their heart out and who has the facts to back that up. Congradulations to the boys that made it. To the ones that didnt and should have we watched you and we are proud. You are all state in our book.
  21. Congrads on the win. I am like OldRambler if it couldnt be us then lets go NCC. I thought your fans especially the student section was great fun to watch.
  22. i didnt know those had been picked yet.
  23. What more can you say about those Rams? Outstanding season just plain and simple. I know they wanted more and I know they are feeling a little empty right now but they know we are just beaming with pride. You are right about the program they start wanting to play as soon as they can pick up a toy football. You are right about who is getting looks. Stephens and Caldwell are getting some looks. Thompson i believe holds a different kind of record(defensive touchdowns)which hasnt gone un-noticed. He will be meeting with Campbellsville, Georgetown, KCU and Thomas Moore. One of the boys said he got a letter from a recruitor that had some words of wisdom that he passed to me. I am not sure exactly how it went but i felt this sums this year up and lets get excited about next year. Cherish the memories of a great high school program and career Begin planning your future on and off the field Focus on the victories yet to come With that said I wish blessings on our fine seniors. Underclassmen lets gear up for another season of Ram football
  24. Yes he did. That would be Josh Miller and he did graduate. He played basketball and baseball for Raceland.
