  1. Cmon Heisman. I didn't say Mercer was slow or nothin. I know we were fast. Mccloud broke a long one every game. It was a given. But, you can't deny the weapon that we have in Corey. We are blazing fast now. It all comes down to blocking anyways.
  2. Well the latter 3 are young but very talented. Talented enough to take it to the house. The top four are mixed with Great speed, and power running and great blocking. Jackson and Ford average above 150 and carry around 12 or 13 times each and are well on their way to both eclipsing 1,500 if they make a deep run into the playoffs. They are the Jets. Sunshine will run over you and then by you. And Nathan is all power with good speed who is a beast when it comes to blocking.
  3. I agree. That horse is rotting. Where is a pack of hungry coyotes when you need them?
  4. It does so the KHSAA says. I just said that Mercer didn't line up 900 Boys and Girls and pick from them. I said with the added Harrodsburg kids which about a dozen play significant minutes. There true advantage was replacing those seniors from last year with talented seniors this year. They started last year for Harrodsburg. So in reality instead of replacing veterans with youthful inexperiece they replace with talented veteran players. Now they do have an extra 200 kids in the student section that they can use as an intimidation tool. Some of them are pretty scary.
  5. Explain my contradiction. Completely please.
  6. I heard they are actually considering making it a state wide holiday if Mercer wins it all. I think they said it would be Remember that time they said it wasn't a landmark achievment now, Titans day. It would fall on every AA title game day. They must be thrilled at Mercer to hear this news if the source is true to his word.
  7. Numbers as in 900 kids in a school. I said Harrodsburg was 3-8 last season cause they LACKED numbers. No contradiction, Just a misunderstanding. I mentioned that Mercer does have an advantage but it wasn't because of the 400 or so girls that go to school there. It was the senior dominated skill players they got from Harrodsburg. That's where the advantage is. So now those Harrodsburg players who were embarrased all year long due to not having a single backup can show that they are players. Add a little extra splash of talent to a already good Mercer team and you have a great team.
  8. Well, the coaching staff at Mercer hasn't been completely satisfied with everybodys play this year. They are still working on getting the best players in positions to better the team. So the Titans have been shuffling players too just as most teams do early on. We hope these changes make Mercer better as well as the other coaches who try to better their teams for district play and hopes of heading into the playoffs giving their teams the best shot at competing at their highest level.
  9. That is your opinion. What makes Ashland so much better now? What was the Ashland experiment? How to get beat by a middle of the pack class A team? You would think that at some point in that game they would have aborted the experiment and took care of business. That is not even close to a good excuse for that embarrasing loss. That's like Mercer losing to Casey Co. Mercer let Casey score on a 85 yard drive to cut the lead to 13-6 friday night. Mercer could have kept on playing that way and would have probably been in trouble. But, they aborted whatever experiment they were working on and scored 4 Td's in the next 7 minutes. I would say that Ashland did overlook Raceland but by the time they realized this, it was too late. A good team will figure out early if they underestimated an opponent and make the necessary adjustments. Prime example from saturday night with UK and FLA. You got a special calculator to come up with 20 times better? Did that come with your ESPN the magazine subscription? I think Mercer has improved alot since LCA. They have rushed for over 1800 yards since the LCA game. Sorry for the jabs but I don't like to be called ignorant for the way I think. Like I said, that was the only comparison we had between Mercer,Russell, and Belfry and it means nothing when it comes to who is really the better team.
  10. Numbers don't win squat. There are alot of bigger schools that can't compete with the top half of 1A. You still have to have quality in your numbers. Mercer does have quality numbers. Mercer was on the verge of being very good last year before injuries killed them. They do have 3A numbers this year. I would say that Mercer and their neighbor Danville are on the same level talent wise. Danville has 40 players total. If they played 10 times they would probably need a tiebreaker game. I'm just saying that I know that there are alot of teams in AA that have alot of quality players. And some field around 70 players as does Mercer. Old Mercer merged with Harrodsburg that had slightly over 20 players from a 3-8 team. Not to say that Harrodsburg didn't have talent last year. They just didn't have the numbers. Mercer had better numbers with around 45 players but, didn't have the speed. You add numbers and speed and that's where you get your difference. Not 900 kids in the school. Half those kids are girls. Now Mercer has numbers on the sideline to match the upper AA teams that had the depth advantage over them last year. 8 out of 11 starters on defense played for Mercer last year. It's close to 50/50 on offense. They also got a couple of high quality out of state transfers that were eligible this year. I understand why alot of people aren't happy about it. But it isn't like they had 900 kids lined up and said We will take you, you, you, and so on. The real advantage is where they lost so many key players (like their entire O-line and some huge losses on the defensive side) due to graduation that with the added 12 or 13 players (majority are seniors) from Harrodsburg that play significant minutes kinda slid into those spots that you might have had to fill with a younger inexperienced player. So just about everybody that starts this season started last season at Mercer or Harrodsburg. Once again, there is your difference. Not 900 kids.
  11. Our JV could win 1A next year.
  12. I saw in a thread where cole of Somerset was agreed to be one of the better WR's in the mountains. If those are mountains in Somerset then we have plenty here.    :thumb:
  13. The turf could be their worst enemy. I'm not saying it will. But,they can't miss tackles in the secondary. Mercer will be in their secondary all night. I wouldn't say that Mercer has very good team speed, I would say it's awesome. No exaggeration there. The problem Newport will face is shutting down all their backs. I don't know if they can. Newport needs to hope for a track meet in my opinion.
  14. I was just teasing. I'm originally from Pulaski Co. I left there in 7th grade while I was at Southern middle. I know a little about the Maroons and their beloved Reggie Hanson.
  15. Same here. Mercer left it all on the field last year against Russell. It would be interesting to see how Ivan and Jaggers adjust to what the other is doing. If they play each other in the finals it would have to be one of the better games that weekend. I believe between those two teams they would heat up a cold december day.
  16. Will they ever get to feeling better then?
  17. Just passing through. Catch me if you can. Mercer County RB Brandon Ford
  18. I grew up in Somerset as a kid. I don't remember any mountains in Somerset.
  19. How did SW lose to pass happy South Laurel? They couldn't stop the pass. South Laurel can't stop anybody right now. So how does SW get thumped by SL? This is Boyle's game to lose.
  20. That's just the way the ball bounces. Turnovers are a huge part of the game. That's why they are included in the box scores. But, both teams will look entirely different from last years teams. Especially Mercer. They aren't the scotties. They are the Titans. They aren't worried about whether you Remember the Titans. They want to make sure you never Forget the Titans. I hear Denzel will be on the Mercer sideline. Just kidding.
  21. Not that this has alot to do with Mercer's chances. But, somthin to ponder. Ashland beat both Russell and Belfry in hard fought games. Ashland lost to Raceland. You know where I'm going. Raceland got thumped by LCA. Mercer beat LCA 63-0 and pulled their starters mid 3rd qtr. That's the only thing we have for comparison right now. LCA has gotten better but so has Mercer as the season has progressed. But, that wont win the Title. It's who shows up each week in november to give themselves that shot in the first weekend in December. I don't see Mercer losing because they haven't been there before. Sure that makes a big difference. But, Mercer has a multiple ring coaching staff. A big part of this staff came from Danville. We probably have one of the top assistant coaches. So Mercer isn't a deer in the headlights or nothin. My point is they are well coached. But, alot can happen between now and november. Time will tell.
  22. They have more of a frequent flyer running game this year.
  23. They have two running backs that will most likely surpass 1500 yards. They may touch the ball 12 or 13 times a game. Against South Laurel they averaged 20 yards a carry. As a team they are averaging close to 450 yards rushing a game. Newport needs to be ready to face a very fast and athletic defense from top to bottom.
  24. No way. That's not going to happen. Overlooking those 3 that is. I know Trigg lost friday. Are they legit? They moved up in the rankings quickly and I wondered how much the field conditions bothered their play friday night.
