I was pretty frustrated but I thought Perkins shot his foul, missed one made one, Then Wallen scored his only point of the night by hitting one of the technical foul shots. Somerset got the ball back on the side.

You can't coach heart and desire!! Price and Wallen stood outside the 3-point line all night, they did nothing to create their shots. The P.C. defense had a lot to do with that, but we sure made it easy for them. It is easy to guard a stand still shooter! The rebounding stats speak for themselves P.C. 42-25 rebounding advantage! I agree that Coach Thacker is a good coach but he sure can't seem to get this group to do the things it takes to win. I don't know how many easy buckets the Maroons got inside while it seemed we struggled for every shot. This game soilidified my opinion that Mark Flynn is coach of the year in the 12th! The way that he handled the situation when John Perkins was fouled on a layup in the 4th quarter that went un-called and John was losing it showed that he has all of his players respect and they just play good hard basketball for him. Of course a little over a minute later Perkins and Cole get tangled up and bam t-time. I still think Somerset has the talent to play with anyone in our region but the heart is in question!!!

Not at all, the 2005 Somerset regional championship seniors probably didn't win but three or four games as JV players throughout their Freshman and Sophomore years. It is mostly about getting experience for your players, and that group of seniors had plenty with several starting for the Varsity team as Freshman and Sophomores as well as playing JV games on Monday nights.

What does that statement have to do with either of the first two? Sayre is not in the 15th, they are in the 11th. And from looking at Sayre's resume I don't see anything to convince me that Sayre would even represent the 12th in the All "A".

Mark Flynn at Pulaski got my vote because of the situation he came in under and he has gotten the focus back on basketball and not all the controversy that has hung around the last few years. On top of that he has them playing well and to me the Maroons just look like a well coached team that could make a run come tournament time.

Ryan Jamison was extremely fast but I believe the fastest time he ever had was around 10.8 or 10.9, which is still not too shabby. He played football in middle school and came out to play in passing league games some but never actually practiced or played with the team, but in the passing league games he did play in he definitely turned some heads with his speed, hands, and amazing jumping ability. If he would have played football all through high school I feel like he would have been close to the same level that John Cole is right now at Somerset.

Lackluster defense and no rebounding= NO HEART!! Who in McBrayer arena did not recognize that Hicks was going to get the ball in those last 3 minutes but we didn't fight thru screens to get to him. Seemed like every rebound opportunity in thos last minutes that Hazard had 4 men in the paint and Somerset had Bourne. The better team won last night and the Bulldogs will be a tough out in my opinion.

The All "A" Classic is great for small schools most of which don't even have a chance to make it to the Sweet 16 much less win it. I will say that it seems many of these teams put too much of an emphasis on the tournament and end up fading away as the season goes on but this tournament is still a good thing for these kids. It also helps to get a bunch of kids in the spot light that normally wouldn't be because of the size of their school.

I haven't been everywhere nor seen all student sections but before I purchased my state tournament tix and reserved my rooms I did check to make sure that CCH was still a favorite in the 9th!!!! They are great to watch. It was amazing a couple of years ago when fans stopped watching the tournament to watch the students from Covcath.

I'm not 100% certain but I believe he was with Dallas.

Good luck to all of the teams that we have had the pleasure of competing with for the past few years in the mountains and hopefully we will be seeing each other again down the road. As for Cole, I just hope he plays football in college. As dominant as he was in football this season he has just as much potential to be that great in baseball. He also comes from an amazing family. Sister ran track at Arkansas, one brother played basketball at Transy, another brother is currently playing baseball for Georgia Southern (all products of the Somerset athletic program :ylsuper:). I have no doubt that whatever this kid decides to do he will excel. He is also very smart young man. He has a 4.0 so far through high school, and Chief correct me if I am wrong but I heard somewhere that he scored a 30 on his ACT.

I just don't see how attacking a program for doing what they feel is best for their student athletes is necessary. I'm sure people in Wayne and Casey and Garrard Co. don't like that they will have to play Somerset every year now. I'm sure people in Corbin and Middlesboro and Leslie Co. are upset that they don't get to play Somerset every year now, and I know some people in Somerset would rather them play against better competition than their new district will provide. My only point is it's final now, and as much as it pleases you to argue about this it does not matter. Somerset will play in 3A. They will be trying to win a 3A state title, and if my memory serves me correctly they don't give you one of those for winning your district.

I think that everyone's point has been proven enough, bottom line is what is done is done. I'm sure everyone on here knows 100% about what they are talking about , so why should we try to convince each other any different? Somerset will play in 3A next year, and I doubt that anyone associated with the program cares about what the any of the BGP posters thinks about it.

I think that Thacker is getting the effort out of all of his players right now, some of them just aren't producing the way they are capable of. John Cole is the best player on that team and one of the best in the region. He has only been practicing for a week because of football, he will be fine.

The only one's that seem to be upset about Somerset moving up to 3A are the teams in the new district. So I ask, who is afraid of who? :sssh:

For the most part Somerset didn't play that terrible Friday night. They were getting wide open looks and moving the ball well but the shots just weren't dropping. I know they had plenty of uncontested shot from three point range but were still shooting something like 2 for 22 at one point in the game. This team will be really good come tournament time, they are just still a pretty young team.

Maybe Jonathan Edwards?
