hector
I havent seen all the northern teams play yet but based on what I have seen here would be my rankings. 1. Lincoln 2. Boyle 3. Somerset 4. McCreary 5. Pulaski 6. West Jess. 7. Southwestern 8. Casey 9. Mercer 10. East Jess. 11. Wayne 12. Garrad 13. Rockcastle 14. Danville 15. Monticello 16 Burgin 17. KSD
SouthernSportsFan
Rockcastle, Pulaski and possibly Casey are too high on this list. Rockcastle should be 16 of 17 teams in the region, in front of KSD, because of their 0-3 start in which they lost by an average of 29 points each game. Of course, you have your own opinion, but East has been picked as the second best team by three newspapers, but a 1-3 start could change the perception on that team. You have Boyle ranked second, but they lost by 11 to the team you have ranked 10th. I have to agree with Lincoln and McCreary is at about the right spot. I would move them to second or third until Somerset or Boyle proves something, no offense to them. Should Somerset win their game tomorrow against Southwestern, they deserve to be up in the mix. hector
You make some very good points but Casey has all the ingrediants to be a regional contender. I havent seen boyle play but I heard they will be better this year than last year ( with their new players). When somerset gets cole they should be much improved. I really like the Borne kid. If Pc gets TY back and he controls himself they could be regional contenders. I think McCreary will get alot better when bartley gets back to full strength In all reality my poll should be 1 Lincoln 2 Tie Boyle, Somerset, McCreary, PC, West J, SW, Casey, Mercer, East J
SouthernSportsFan
Casey does have the ability to be a contender, but they're not showing it. I haven't seen Boyle play either, but a loss to East by 11 isn't good on the ole' resume. Somerset and Mercer are darkhorses to me; I haven't seen either play, but Somerset was good last season. Mercer, on the other hand, has no offense whatsoever. Should they start scoring more points, then they'll be able to contend aswell. Sometimes I am hearing that Bartley won't be back at all, and others are saying by the 19th. I talked to him personally at their last game and he said he wasn't sure. I like you "in reality" poll, that is if Cole gets back to Somerset, PC starts playing better with Ty, and if Casey shows that they'll put in some effort. Whenever/if McCreary gets Bartley back, I think they'll put up a tough fight for the number one team in the region.
inmyopinion
Which teams return the most players from last year? Those that received real varsity time last year that is.
SouthernSportsFan
McCreary returns all starters and loses only 2 players who rarely saw playing time. Add that with a few good freshmen, including Watts, and you've got a great team. McCreary's Bartley, second/first leading scorer, returns Dec 18th @ Cumberland County and will help McCreary's ball handling vastly. The last game Bartley will miss is the 12th @ Wayne, which a thread for predictions has started. I think their worst possible record after that would be 16-6 (two losses to S'western, @E. Jessamine, @Lincoln, @Somerset, and maybe a tourney loss.) With Bartley, I think they'll go 20-2 through 17-5.
inmyopinion
I have heard alot about McCreary and I enjoyed watching them in the regional tournament last year. Hope to see them play soon.
hector
Which teams return the most players from last year? Those that received real varsity time last year that is. Lincoln returns most of the players who played for them in last years region. Pulaski returns J. Perkins, Whitis, Floyd, Hyden (who started 1/2 the year then quit) Muse and Hines. Rumor has it Ty Perkins will be back by January. Somerset has a real nice Junior class. The Price and Cole kid along with Borne got significant minutes last year. SW returns 4 players with Varsity experience in Dalton, Edwards, Sears, & rodgers. I think Wayne Co. was young last year and returns most of their team. I think Monticello and Rockcastle and Mercer lost a lot to graduation.
Jesse James
Wayne plays McCreary tomorrow night and although I would not say that Wayne will beat McCreary, it would not surprise me. If nothing else I think you will see that Woods has narrowed the gap alot from last year. Wayne got a good road win at Mercer also.
SomersetFootball
Cole and Price were thrown into starting roles last year that will help out this year tremendously.
SouthernSportsFan
Lincoln returns most of the players who played for them in last years region. I don't think so. McCreary returns every player that played last season - the top 10 scorers. Gone are Stephens and Jones and most of their action was in the senior night game. I believe Stephens and Jones played a combined 4 minutes in the region last season. I'm not saying that Lincoln doesn't have all of their players back, but I know that every McCreary player who saw any time of minutes is back. He was just saying that Lincoln returned most of their players from last year. He didn't say the have the most returning in the region.

gchs_uk9
Yeah, my bad. Sorry about that! Too defensive, eh? You do tend to lean toward McCreary! That's alright, though. You've got a nice team and should be in the running this spring! Maybe you can get back to Rupp for the first time since 1983 this year. You guys deserve it. SouthernSportsFan
Yes, I lean on them a lot - all my weight. I think they'll be in the running this spring and I think they're the favorites of the 48th. A mild upset to other top teams, Lincoln, W. Jessamine, and then they'll be region favorites. If they're the #1 seed in the 48th, I think they're a lock for a region spot and have about a 5% chance to get knocked out of it. I think McCreary will be #1 seed, and Monticello will be #4. Wayne and Southwestern could be fighting for the 2nd spot, but whoever gets it will play the other team in the districts (2/3 SW vs. 2/3 Wayne). No disrespect to Monticello.
