Austin yes but I have never considered Duran to be a good shooter. Taking nothing away from his game because everyone knows he is a great player but I dont think anybody really fears his outside shot.

Are you guys talking about the Shining Stars? Or is there another team out there called the Shooting Stars?

Is that 215 pts in one game? If it is thats unbelievable. How is that even possible? How can you score 50 plus each quarter?

I might be totally wrong here but I seem to remember hearing about Holmes playing Oak Hill Academy back in the early 90's maybe? I think I remember people talking about Stackhouse being on that team.

I havent heard anything lately about Hurd. I know he had knee surgery over the summer but havent heard how he was recovering? Is he going to be ready for the start of the season? And Hester hasnt got himself hurt over the summer did he? I know he has had a problem with his wrist the past couple of years. Anyone have any details on this?

Matt played with them early on but not into High School. Alex Barker was their point guard. Drew Mcdavid and Billy Blanton was also on that team. They had kids that went to Rose Hill, Russell and Boyd Co i think. They were just really well coached and were all very smart basketball players.

That's a good point. And really Austin is the only one on that team that can consistently knock down outside shots. A box and 1 would be a good defense to run against them. 4 guys sit in zone and have your best defender chase Austin around and deny him the ball. Also you cant be reluctant to take the ball to the basket ( no matter how many times you get blocked ) these kids are agressive and can get in to foul trouble. Also another point that should be brought up is how will this team ( especially Duran ) be handled by the refs this year. You dont want to get on the badside of some of these zebras, they do remember.

Last time I say this. Austin is not 6'3 or 6'4. And he may have the ability to play the 3 position but cant because of his size. Even at the two he will be guarding people bigger than him at a d-1 school most of the time. And he is not on the same level as a Walker, so please dont put him there.

This is true. The Eky Stars were one of the best coached teams in AAU. Always performed well at the nationals as well. Even though at first glance you wouldnt think much of them they could play and beat just about anybody. What they did against the Heels was made them play their game everytime they met. The Tarheels would average like 70 pts a game every state tourney and then when they played Eky it would always be a game in the 40's or 50's. They had very smart basketball players that just knew how to handle the Heels' press and tight defense. They slowed the ball down and the tempo of the game was always theirs. These two teams always played tremendous games in which the Stars always found a way to win. Talent wise the Tarheels in my opinion had more but the Stars were a better team.

Sk beat Walton 74-53 the first game and 70-47 the second game and that was with their starters not playing in the 4th quarter. What exactly do you consider a blowout?

You might want to get used to this. People on here like to be a little generous with the height they give kids.

Let me get my tape measure out. lol. I actually dont know how tall he is. I saw Holy Cross play a couple times last year and dont remember anyone else being as tall as Eifert. Is the Scruggs kid's first name Jontay or something like that?

I was really talking about teams outside of nky. I dont believe they ever lost to a team in nky. I was talking more about teams they played outside the state in some of the bigger tourneys. You would see teams with 2 or 3 kids 6inches taller than anyone on the tarheels at times. They beat their fairshare of these teams because of their press and ability to hit the threes but in games which a team had a good PG to handle the press and big kids inside they got in trouble, especially on the boards. He did bring in a kid from South Laurel that played with them for a stretch of time and later in highschool he brought in some bigger kids from Cincinnati to play with them.

The kids name is Justin Koors and he, Edmonson and Luster were only like 6ft back in the 8th grade. That's a decent size but not big by any means. Not when they ran up against teams that had kids 6ft 4 and 5 in the same grade.

I never said the team couldnt I said the three players mentioned couldnt average 60pts a game the way the post said. And I have never heard anybody say that Brossart is the best defensive team in the state. Really?

No, Austin was pretty tall for his age back in elementary school but then he stopped growing in like junior high and alot of people caught up with him and passed him. Then he hit a spurt in like the 10th grade. That fullcourt press they ran was excellent and really got the job done but not against everyone. The reason why that team lost any game was because of height. Talent wise with Jefferson, Hill, Hester and crew they matched up with everyone but size was their kryptonite.

I guess Walton but does this even matter? SK wont come close to being touched in this district and whoever finishes 2nd wont do anything in the regional.

He is not 6ft 3in! How do I know this? Because I was close enough to slap Austn in the face (lol) just a month ago and he was my height 6ft 1in maybe and a half.

I think it would be viewed as a disappoinment but there biggest weakness even as youngsters was size. Not having Hester on the team is a difference as well but that also would make them smaller. They seemed to always be one really good big man away from being tremendous. Rice at just 6ft 3in is just not big enough. They are the favorite going into the season but I wouldnt be shocked if CovCath knocks takes the cake in the end. It's a long season you know and a lot of things can happen, especially with the Bulldogs.

I really dont believe Austin has the frame to play the 3 spot at any college let alone a d-1 school. He's got a good body but he is only 6ft 1in.
