I see that Simon Kenton is scheduled to play Henry Clay in the first round. They played last year at Scott Co and it was a great game. Dunnaway is gone and I know they still have Morris but how good is Henry Clay going to be this year?

Whatever man, there are other websites out there and one in paticular devoted to Ky high school sports. Im sure you heard of it and im not going to spell it out for you. ( I dont know exactly how this site will feel about me promoting rival sites) PrepHoopsonline is a site devoted to high school sports in the midwest and they have them ranked that way. You sound a little bitter about something. We each have our opinions and they differ. Good Luck to you and your Eagles this year.

Skills ok but speed? No. Proffit and Anderson are not near as quick as Hill, Hester and Jefferson. I am not saying these guys arent as good anyway. The original argument was that I stated I believe this area ( meaning Nky ) has the best group of guards than any other area in the state. Profit is from London, Anderson is from Bowling Green, Walls and Mackey are from Scott Co and Beckham is from Louisville. I never said they were the best 4 guards in the state. Louisville is the one area that really stands out as well for guard play but I would give the edge to Nky. Plus im from here so you can use the bias word now lol.

There are a few different prep web sites out there that I dont think I should mention on here, that have them ranked that way. You lost your credibility with me when you said that Hill isnt an elite guard in this state. Overall he is a better all around player than Beckham and Anderson. Austin, Mike, Duran and Todd are the best guards in Nky and are right there with any of the best around the state.

And furthermore I really dont care if they are or are not Mr Basketball canidates. Walt Allen won that award last year right? If that means that he was the best player in the state last year than im glad that they are not. That award has become a joke. POLITICS. The kids you mentioned get alot of credit because of the teams they play for. Lots of exposure and in this state that means everything. Not trying to take anything away from them because I know they are very good players but pound for pound and talent for talent our boys up north would hold their own.

I dont even know where you find these rankings you are refering to. Where can I check them out? Who comes up with them? Please tell me? I do know that I have seen a few state rankings of players and Austin is always in the top 10, Jefferson is right around the top 10 and Jacobs and Hester are either top 20 or 25. And those are all position rankings not just guards. The guards we have up here in Nky are just as talented as any other areas. Louisville is stacked but our best guards can play with their best guards.

You can say what you want but to say that Austin Hill isnt an elite guard is just ridiculous. The players you mentioned are great no doubt about it but those four players I mentioned can play with any of them. If there was a top ten list for guards in this state all four of them would be on mine.

I think the 9th and 10th are pretty even this year. Both regions have 2 really good teams and 1 sleeper. 9th Holmes and Cov Cath / Holy Cross -- 10th Mason Co and GRC / Brossart. After those three teams in each region there is a drop off. I would give the slight edge to the 9th for the best overall talent.

The one thing that seems to hurt Nky teams is always size, especially against Lou. and Lex teams. I wouldnt down the talent that this area has though. When it comes to guard play, I believe that Nky has the best as a whole. Austin Hill, Duran Jefferson, Mike Hester and Todd Jacobs are elite guards in this state and all play up north. The lack of good bigmen is always a problem for teams like Holmes and Cov Cath but if they get a good one they can beat any team in the state. ( i.e. Cov Cath with Votel ) Overall the rest of the state dont really consider this area a problem but there is teams up here that can play with anyone. SK and Cov Cath for example. And if Holmes can keep their heads on straight this year than every team in this state better watch out.

Pelle not being in the top 10 is absolutley absurd! He should be right up there behind Miller and Knowles. This really doesnt make me want to go out and waste money on this junk.

There has been a lot of talk about players leaving college early and a lot of it against the act. Im a Uk fan and a fan of college basketball in general and can understand why people feel this way. It has without a doubt brought down the level of play in college basketball. My personal opinion on this though, is that it is not all bad. There's actually one great thing that comes out of this. The more players leaving early, means the more scholarships there are for the next class of highschool basketball players. And this has a snowball effect. Not only will more players who wouldnt be getting D-1 scholarships now be getting them but it works it's way down to every level of college ball. For example, the players who would be going to say WKU are getting offers from let's say UK and the players who would be going to a D-2 school like a Georgetown or a NAIA school are now getting offers from WKU. It keeps working it's way down until you finally get to a kid who wouldnt be getting any scholarship offers, now getting a chance to play at a lower level school. And most importantly having the chance to get a college education that he might not have gotten if it wasnt for Rajon.

:laugh: That's funny. It's not a problem, it's an opinion and I thought that was what this forum was about. The problem is that you dont like me expressing my opinion on Corey. I dont have anything against the kid and dont have a reason to but I can still have an opinion on his basketball skills. Dont take it so personal.

Does anyone have any insight on how they come up with their rankings? Coaches? Media? Or do they actually have people who have seen these teams and kids play on staff that evaluate them?

Dont really agree with that statement. If your good enough you will be seen. Do you really think all those kids that get invited to the ABCD, Nike and Reebok camps have families that are financialy set? There are lots of kids out there that come from poor families that play AAU ball and get seen all around the nation. Bottom line is if you are good enough money wont be the reason why you dont get to play and be seen.

One question, how many games have you seen Sorrell take over? At the high school level.

I havent seen him a lot lately. I watched HC play 4 times last year. But I got to see him play a lot while he was coming up and I havent seen too much of a change in his game.

08 probably has the 3 best prospects in Hopson, Mackey and Miller but from top to bottom 07 is pretty solid.

Why do you think Sorrell will be the best player on HC this year? I've seen Corey play quite a bit and unless he is knocking down a bunch of threes he isnt doing much else to impress. His best attribute is his spot up shooting but other than that I really dont understand why people keep saying how good he is. He has good height for a guard but he is neither strong enough or athletic enough to guard a great player. He also seems scared and timid out there a lot of times. He is a good role player in my opinion, a nice player to have out there to knock down a few shots but I wouldnt expect him to carry this team.

Exactly! :thumb: Every coach coming into the Holmes game should tell their kids to give him the shot everytime. He can knock down 2 or 3 in a row from time to time but is not consistent enough. You would much rather keep him out there shooting then getting in the lane and killing you where he is best.
