Who will be the top team from each region? (Region) 1st: 2nd: 3rd: 4th: 5th: 6th: 7th: 8th: 9th: 10th: 11th: 12th: 13th: 14th: 15th: 16th: For the 12th, there is no clear choice. McCreary is a scappy team that is capable of winning the region, but there lack of size might hurt them in the end. Playing two 6' guards against Boyle's 6'9 Brian Staied in the regions worked well. Coach Jones is a good coach to draw up plays and know who to put against who. The new Mercer could be good as well. Since conjoining with Harrodsburg, who wasn't all that good last year, their team should be stronger than ever. Who do you choose for the best teams?
Tiger1 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Mason County will be a top 5-10 team in the state and the 10th region favorite. Clark County might also be rated in the top 25 in the state and be a close #2 behind Mason in the 10th.

WC is probably a top 10 team in the state, if not top 5. On their heels in the region is Greenwood, who will be looking to make something this year before they graduate a large senior class.
8-ball Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 The 13th doesn't really have a state power this year unless you want to consider South Laurel but, in my opinion, their days as one of the state's elite are over although they do have a very good player (one of the state's best) in Ty Proffitt. It is a very balanced region this year with multiple teams that could knock off South Laurel such as Bell County, Jackson County, and Cumberland. There are some others who could make some noise by the end of the year such as Harlan, Cawood and Corbin. A couple of sleepers this year would include Clay County (if you could ever call them a sleeper), OBI, Pineville, and Barbourville. This region may be more balanced than it has been in a while which should lead to an exciting year and possibly unexpected finish.

Remember, they were only one point away from not going this past season and they will not be as good as they were then because of the loss of Allen, just as they weren't as good last year without Fields. I just think that there are more good teams this year than in the last couple of ones which make it a greater possibility of an upset happening but no doubt, South will be the team to beat but other teams do have a better shot than they have had lately.

IMO: The loss of Allen won't hurt as much as everyone expects.

Qryche11 Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I think Cov Cath takes the 9th again. Holmes will be tough as well but the Colonels have size, play defense and can shoot the lights out of it. Also well coached.
