The biggest thing I see wrong with your predictions is you have no University Heights. They are led by Hopson and have 2 other great players from what I hear.

Scott Co will be a very good team this year!

Your probabily right UHA will be good again this year and probabily shoud be in there some where, They took a blow when Josh Mack Graduated, he was a heck of a guard there and will be hard to replace...he went on to Coastal Carolina I believe a D-I school

I think it will be hard for ANYONE to compete with Scott County this season, they will be unbelievable...They have Walls, Lee, Macky and Givens back along with alot of young guys who'll make names for themselves this season...they have players coming off the bench 7th & 8th men that would be most teams #1 option and alot of these guys are just JR's this year.

Did Haddix Graduate??

Couldn't agree anymore. The one year they actually had a big man (Lexie Brown), they won region. But with the athleticism that these young men have, size isn't a factor. All their lives they've been smaller but continued to beat the bigger teams simply because of their ability to get out and run.

I think the winner of the Covcath-Holmes regualr season game, will determine who wins region. Confidence is the biggest advantage either can possess. Holmes definetly has the better talent though...all depends on whether the talent, or TEAM shows up. Holy Cross also has the ability to be a dark horse. Either way, the 9th region will run through the 35th for the 4th (?) year in a row.

Wasn't Austin Hill very, very short growing up? Or am I thinking of someone else? Either way they were a small team and that trapping defense with Pouncey foiled everyone.

No, Austin was pretty tall for his age back in elementary school but then he stopped growing in like junior high and alot of people caught up with him and passed him. Then he hit a spurt in like the 10th grade. That fullcourt press they ran was excellent and really got the job done but not against everyone. The reason why that team lost any game was because of height. Talent wise with Jefferson, Hill, Hester and crew they matched up with everyone but size was their kryptonite.

I'd agree with this statement now, but not "all their lives". The Tar Heels teams up until about high school age had decent size for their age group. The problem was some of their "big men" like Edmundson, Luster and the big kid now at SK whose name escapes me (out of hoops, playing football I think) didn't grow much more after about 8th grade, but were pretty big for their age then!!

The kids name is Justin Koors and he, Edmonson and Luster were only like 6ft back in the 8th grade. That's a decent size but not big by any means. Not when they ran up against teams that had kids 6ft 4 and 5 in the same grade.

And they were about the same in 6th & 7th also. They were as big or bigger than kids like Kiernan and Jared Harris who played for the Rockets back then, as I remember. Thanks for the Kohrs' kids name, it was driving me crazy!!

Didn't Pouncy pick up a couple bigger kids from central KY and a kid from London in the later Tar Heel years??

I was really talking about teams outside of nky. I dont believe they ever lost to a team in nky. I was talking more about teams they played outside the state in some of the bigger tourneys. You would see teams with 2 or 3 kids 6inches taller than anyone on the tarheels at times. They beat their fairshare of these teams because of their press and ability to hit the threes but in games which a team had a good PG to handle the press and big kids inside they got in trouble, especially on the boards. He did bring in a kid from South Laurel that played with them for a stretch of time and later in highschool he brought in some bigger kids from Cincinnati to play with them.

Not to get off track here, but can you tell me Mr. Luster's first name?

Ryan Luster he is at Ryle.

Those Tarheel teams were very good, but to my knowledge they never beat the Eastern KY Stars. Plus, the Tarheels only won 1 AAU State Tournament and that was back in the 4th grade.

This is true. The Eky Stars were one of the best coached teams in AAU. Always performed well at the nationals as well. Even though at first glance you wouldnt think much of them they could play and beat just about anybody. What they did against the Heels was made them play their game everytime they met. The Tarheels would average like 70 pts a game every state tourney and then when they played Eky it would always be a game in the 40's or 50's. They had very smart basketball players that just knew how to handle the Heels' press and tight defense. They slowed the ball down and the tempo of the game was always theirs. These two teams always played tremendous games in which the Stars always found a way to win. Talent wise the Tarheels in my opinion had more but the Stars were a better team.

Where's Henry Clay, they have 4 returning starters, 2 d-1 players & 1 Mr. Football canidate who can play. They play in the toughest district in the state how can you not rate them in your top 25??????

It was the Eastern Kentucky All-Stars, comprised of a lot of the best players now in the 16th region, that the Tar Heels had a lot of games with at the end of tourneys. I think Matt Thomas of Ashland was their point guard. They were big all around the court.

Wow, imagine had this Tar Heels team stayed together. The EKY Stars as one person stated was made up of different school's players. Tar Heels were all going to be at Holmes. Would they have won a state championship?

Something to ponder...we probably wouldn't even be talking about Arrez Henderson!

Hester

Jefferson

Hill

Rice

Edmondson

But back to the thread, Holmes definetly has to be the favorite coming into the 9th this year. With or Without Edmondson
