D1 prospects is wishful thinking by some of the faithful. No I don't think that's it. And I would also disagree that players are underachieving because of lack of experience in "blow out" games. Don't these players have an opportunity to play 50-60 games in top level summer programs? And haven't they played a number of games this year now that it's their turn? I don't have a son on the team. Mine could play there in the near future so I do have a vested interest in the program. It appears to me that some of them have little passion for the game. It is a quiet team. You don't see a lot of players encouraging their teammates. I know I saw a lot of that on last year's team. Perhaps only teams with winning records encourage each other. Or maybe these guys didn't get "blow out" innings last year because of their lack of energy. It appears to me that many different players have been given opportunities at different positions. I think it's great that some underclassmen are now being given the lion's share of the playing time. They appear to be serious ballplayers. The team has improved in my opinion with those guys in the lineup. Just my opinion.... Magical things can happen in HS baseball. The season isn't over. Maybe the Ryle team can put together a post season run. By the way, the Conner team looked very impressive yesterday. They can really hit. I'd say they are the best hitting team in NKY. They are a contender. Congrats to the Cougars.

Shame on Ryle? For what? Wanting to play? Campbell County got on their bus and came over so apparently they wanted to play, too. Why don't you trash talk them, too. And of course Ryle wanted to keep playing. Who wouldn't want to play when you only need three more outs. Campbell County certainly didn't want to lose. I noticed their fans and coaches doing a bit of begging themselves.

I can't see Campbell County wanting to continue this game. The bus basically "peeled out" getting out of there. Down 8-2 after 4 innings I think was enough. Ryle could have used a win. But if nothing else, it was good to see them swing the bats some.

In addition to the traditional baseball coaching duties, I would agree that things like fundraising, field maintenance, and motivation are certainly part of coaching high school baseball. However, I think having to explain baseball things to the parents like why a player is or is not playing just isn't part of the job. It's human nature for parents and players to second guess their coaches. Feel free to do that amongst yourselves. But when mom and dad constantly belittle the coach, it will eventually affect the player listening to this. And they may bring this attitude back to the rest of the team. Frankly, I know very little about the Ludlow program or the new coach. But by most accounts, he seems to know his baseball. He can probably teach those kids a thing or two. It will likely be a futile effort to teach the critics anything.:argue:

I am sure that the players respect Elliott. I find it hard to believe that players would say they were scared to hit off of anyone. Me thinketh there is some embellishing. :lol: Ryle has already faced some good pitchers. Facing the top pitchers will only help the hitters later in the year.

It looks like only six coaches voted in the NKY Poll. I guess that's probably because the coaches know that polls mean very little in the grand scheme of things...especially at this point in the season.

I guess my point was that even though these Freshmen and Sophomores are not given the chance to go to the varsity tryouts, I would find it hard to believe that Coach Roesel does not talk with his JV coach on a regular basis. That way he will know if a player is ready to move into the varsity lineup and play. Those players on the JV team may have to prove themselves first at the JV level but if they are ready, I think Coach Roesel has shown the willingness in the past to give these guys an opportunity at the varsity level.

The widespread belief that the "wait your turn" thing applies at Ryle baffles me. So unless you are an upperclassman, you can not play at that program? From the 07 team, didn't Humphrey start when he was a Freshmen? And didn't Wagner and Murray start since they were Sophomores? I'll bet if these guys are presently the best players in the program at their positions, they will get an opportunity to play varsity this year. Perhaps I am wrong....

I'll bet he doesn't miss a sign tonight. So maybe it wasn't crap. What kid isn't unhappy to be taken out of a game. If I'm not mistaken, didn't he re-enter and bat later in the game?

Tough crowd. I for one believe that the top 9th Region teams can compete quite well with other parts of the state. I was impressed with Ryle. By most accounts, York is among the top 3 or 4 pitchers in Northern KY. Ryle managed enough offense or forced enough errors to score 10 runs in 5 innings. Defensively they made all of the plays which has been customary for them. The pitching was exemplary. I'm not sure if a runner ever reached 2nd base against them.

I think that the Regional will be held on Mon., Tues., and Wed. That's how it has been in years past. The Freedom website states the same.

9th Region is definitely on Monday. Times are believed to be 10:00, 12:30, 3:00, and 5:30.

I am a Raider fan even I am going to puke. They beat us. Next time let's hope we score more runs than them...But lets just accept that the team that played the best won on that day. Enough already.
