  1. I think 32 teams in each class make the playoffs. Lawrence and Rowan are in 4A.
  2. The district games during the regular season are for seeding in the playoffs. 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3. 4 teams in the district make the playoffs. The first 2 rounds of the playoffs are against your own district again. So Lawrence could play Rowan again in the playoffs depends on how they teams are seeded in the playoffs and depending on who plays and beats who. You don't play the other team in the region until the 3rd round.
  3. I don't think it's appropriate to discuss the "other circumstances" in this forum until they are made public by the press or the school administration out of the respect for the school, Coach Thomas and the people involved. I will answer any questions to the best of my knowledge about the situation though in a PM.
  4. This doesn't have much to do with the resignation. It's been said but there is more to this situation. I'm not going to get into any detail on here about the situation.
  5. Then how is Eric Shelton not mentioned there, went to Florida State and was the work horse at U of L. Really if that is the case Horning, Shelton, Alexander and Homer are the only ones that deserve to be mentioned. Beach did play at UK but his role was limited, if your basing it by high school, college and pro then the list that is up should only be between 4 players.
  6. If that is the argument then some of then Beach and Howard shouldn't be on that list. West was better than both of them.
  7. I would say Vipperman Stadium. I know it's closed now but that was a very special place to go and the atmosphere was second to none.
  8. What is the date of the grid this year and who are the teams in it?
  9. This it probably the best post I've read on this entire site since the first time I looked at this website. RIP Rock.
  10. I remember last year or a couple years ago people were complaining that holding the 16th region at MSU was home court advantage for Rowan County, They wanted to have the games moved to Boyd County Middle School or somehwere up there. When Rowan Co. lost this year it was the 5th time in 6 years they've lost in the 1st round. I would think moving it to the BCMS would def be home court advantage for Ashland. But on the other hand, Rowan Co. fans don't support thier teams much, there was alot more East fans in the areana this year and I would imagine tonight that there will be a big sea of Marroon on both sides.
  11. Seems like everyone agrees on one thing....it's gonna be a barn burner and alot of fun to watch!
  12. Just heard it on the morehead state the game tonight as been cancled due to weather
  13. Accross from the old MSU gym weatherby wich is beside the courthouse which is beside the AAC building for those that don't know
  14. 3 games for the incedent with the ref. Here is the link on MSN.com http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/6458936?MSNHPHMA
  15. It has nothing to do with slapping the floor or hooping and hollering. It has to do with intensity and drive. Yes I saw those 4 blocks but I also saw 2 turnovers . I'm not knocking any of his ability, nor am I knocking his work ethic, I am stating that from watching this kid play, he only does what he has to do to help his team win, he never does any more than that. He's a very good basketball player, he has the ability to be a great basketball player. He does not always push his ability to the limit, he's not a 110% player all the time. When he does develop that drive he may very well get paid to play basketabll one day.
  16. I wasn't the only person in the stands with the same opinion. There were several loyal Mason fans with the same opinion I had.
  17. I had the pleasure of watching this game last night. Miller is one of the best athletes I've seen in high school. He glides with the ball when he drives and is an incredible finisher when he wants to be. He has all the tools to be as good as he wants to be. He's as good as any one person in the OVC right now and his basketball IQ is very high. He's a very very good player with the potential to be a great player. My other opion was that he lacks fire and drive. He had no intensity to his game. For the lack of a better word he appeard lazy at times on the floor. There is noone that can gaurd this kid one on one when he wants to play, if he ever gets any drive in him at all there isn't 2 kids on the floor that can gaurd him and his potential is limitless. He is a big time D1 kid and will have his choice at some power house schools, with the development of some intensity he might be further than that. Good luck to him and the royals on the quest for a second title.
  18. How big are the 2 Faulkner boys and the Ferguson kid?
  19. Does anyone know the date, times and who is in the Grid at Breathitt County this year?
  20. With the new 6 class system going in place next year, the KHSAA said that schools would be allowed to play up a class. If this is the case, if several of the schools chose to play up, that will make for a large number of teams in that class. IMO, I believe that all the schools that choose to play up a class should file a form now and the KHSAA should finalize it for a set number of years. Then In return I think that they should adjust the enrollment numbers to even out the classes so you don't have 10 or 12 more teams playing in one class than another. Which could also cause some districts with just 4 teams to only have 3 or less. I am under the impression they want the classes to be evenly divided. How will or should they address this issue, because it will be a problem.
  21. Your right, that is the cycle here, it's realy a laughing joke in the community, as I'm assure your aware of. Also, from what I understand, 1 of the committee members is in the running for a position on the staff and it appears that a local member of the community is willing to make a nice donation to the school to fill another position, and in my personal opinion, that is an even bigger joke than who they hired. As far as the paid coaches goes, it does not surprise me. With the weak schedule they play, they shold be able to win a few games, when they get back in the district next season, they better be prepared, I'm not sure if they really know what they are getting into. I personally can't belive a head coach would run the offense a principal wanted but again, this is Rowan Co. we are talking about. They have either fired or run off the only coaches that have ever won there. With the exception of the Soccer and Speech programs.
