It was a lot of fun watching Vanhoose last night

Spindoc I saw the stats on Elliott & noticed 0 rebounds from Maynard. I know this to be incorrect because he had an offensive rebound & putback for Elliotts 1st bucket of the game right in front of where I was sitting. Easy to remember because they went a long time b4 scoring again. They were down 20-4 fast. Bandits stats above seem accurate. Maynard been playing good ball for them. It was a great game, lots of fun to watch no matter who you were pulling for

IMO to this point based on what I have read & been told I would cast my vote to Walls. Possibly do the same at year end

This one will be close as both are similar in size & athletic ability. Elliott probably has the edge in shooting & maybe rebounding. May come down to tempo & FT shooting. I do not think Elliott will be overlooking this one or at least they better not or East will hang the 2nd L on them. Since its at Elliott I'll go Elliott 67 East 63 with East controlling the tempo

East Bank in regards to your comments on Clark Stepp at JBS that no NAIA school would want him. Wow ! that is bold, IMO you may have to eat some crow on this one in a couple of years. They may direct things to pad his stats but it does not take away the fact that he is a solid player. Very capable of playing NAIA or maybe D-1 in 2 years

Not sure they were quite that far but that along with Fergusons off balance shots off 1 foot not exactly what you may want. However to their credit they both usually make those attempts. Plus the Rams shots were much hgher % shoits & it paid off for them. Phillips was a big difference in the game for the Rams. Congrats to Coach J & the Rams

So True, so many time on both the college & high school level athleticism is given to much credit as opposed to just the kids who know, understand & can play the game. ex as shhoterx3 says watch out for Lex Cath. Novosel & crew are underrated

BR549, why you would get on here & say such a thing is unbelievable! The Elliott players were already in the locker room when a player of the game was announced. As they got halfway back out on the floor it was announced again & the Elliott players dejected over the loss immediately headed back to the locker room. You need to go back & watch some tape of that game & just watch how much was set up for Ferguson & quit trying to start something. Yes Weddingtons inside strength & leadership is really really missing and I do not think there is anyone there to fill that void. With this Elliott team more so than others past if the outside shot is not falling it most likely will be a loss !

I do not know who the Rams have that can go outside & inside to stay with Ferguson. If they stop the Faulkners then that also leaves Maynard to stop. Rams best chance is to outboard them & get offensive putbacks. It is extremely difficult for both Faulkners shut down on same night.It will be a rare night that all 4 are shutdown or have an off night at the same time.

HDE, I think you are missing the topic here which is top 5 shooters not top 5 players.

I saw Ervin Stepp many times in High School & he definitely fits in this thread as one of the top 5 shooters off all time. Regardless of the competition he could shoot! I saw him about 3 summers ago playing in a tourney in Lexington & the 1st 7 trips down the floor he hit 7straight 3's ! Not bad for a 40 year old guy. I remember Ronnie Lyons & you could put him in there also as he had the same kind of range.

I maybe agree with 2 of the top 100 but who is the 3rd I am missing?

I do not know much about their team this year but I do know the Sparks kid could be a real sleeper. He has a lot of potential

Spindoc you are living up to your name on this one in trying to get Bandit29 fired up. Considering it is election time, so you should be at your best. Maynard may be considered a 4th option by other teams but I'm not sure Elliott plays this way. I am not even sure the coaches have a 1, 2 or 3 option at any point even if a kid has a hot hand. There will be games when he will lead them or just behind the scoring leader as will the other three have those same type of nights. As you stated earlier they will definitely miss Weddington.

From what I hear & have read he has been at 2 or 3 schools in the past 2-3 years. I have heard Rose Hill, Scott Co, Russell & one of the schools in the Huntington area though I'm not sure if any or all is true. This is why people are questioning his status.

I agree with Bilas you cannot overlook Greenup especially if the players have improved over the summer. They are very well coached, may be the best defensive team in the region. They play as hard or maybe harder than anyone.

Good post dejavu, but I will say he could easily avg. 14-16 if he gets equal opportunities. He should avg 6-8 alone from the FT line if they get him the ball. He once told me Weddington would tell him not to worry he will see that he has the ball at the end of the game so the FT's would be in his hands. I call that (Senior Leadership) hope someone can fill that void for Elliott this year! Last year I would say he only avg about 3-4 shots/game. He should get more than that just from the attention Ferguson & the twins wil draw. Let see if Elliott coaches use this to their advantage

GIAT, As much as you're on these sites and are asking who Maynard is leads me to beiieve that you are basically a Tomcat follower & not a 16th region basketball follower. Your hometown newspaper had him as the leading free thow shooter and 2nd in 3pt % in the 16th for the 05'-06'season. I think he just did not have enough attempts to qualify for the state leader in these catagories but if Elliott coaches are smart they will see that he gets those attempts this year. PS I am almost positive he is not related to the ADI Sports Editor Mark Maynard

IMO Daniel is not overrated at all! Like many others who are coaches sons they draw a little more unfair criticism from some of us. As far as Daniel being the most "Pure" shooter in the region I would disagree. I think Maynard at Elliott has that wrapped up.

I like Wolfenbarger a lot but at this point based on last years performance and what I have seen in the past I would go with either Faulkner twin in front of him. Again based on last year I would definitely put Blair ahead of Gill. I only saw Gill make one shot in the 4 games I saw him play that was beyond a 2' offensive put back. He simply couldn't score though that was not his role for the team and let me say he did serve his role very well. Some others who will be top players this year: Martin- Rowan, Maynard-Elliott, Johnson-E.Carter, Hollingsworth -W.Carter

Strpes3, I do not know what this list is suppose to be? Top Rebouders? Top Pt Gaurds, just what? This definitely could not be based on who you have seen play because a few of these kids are not good shooters at all! Most are good shooters but not the better ones in the state! Obviously there are others that you have not seen and that is understandable. We asked for everyones thoughts and you are entitled to yours
