dejavu, do you care to list the 15th region, I haven't had a chance to see the new cats pause and was just curious..thanks

Austin Blair and Scott Gill. Gill has improved greatly over the past summer. He will be a force.

Obviously GIAT has not arisen yet this morning and seen this one,,,,,jumpin' Jehosephat, he'll blow a gasket!!!!

Why would he blow a gasket? Ashland has two players on there, Russell only has one, the only other one with two is , oh wait, Rose Hill, I guess that makes them the co-favorites to win the region?

That Ashland -Rose Hill game should be a great game for us fans!:thumb:

I like Wolfenbarger a lot but at this point based on last years performance and what I have seen in the past I would go with either Faulkner twin in front of him. Again based on last year I would definitely put Blair ahead of Gill. I only saw Gill make one shot in the 4 games I saw him play that was beyond a 2' offensive put back. He simply couldn't score though that was not his role for the team and let me say he did serve his role very well. Some others who will be top players this year: Martin- Rowan, Maynard-Elliott, Johnson-E.Carter, Hollingsworth -W.Carter

1. Vanhoose - Great shooter with size

2. McDavid - Strong, fundementally as sound as they come

3. Ferguson - explosive performance last year in Morehead

4. Euton - Bigger, stronger, quicker than last year.

5. Jackson - Smooth has improved his jump shot

6. Daniels - Excellent shooter. Like Vanhoose has good size

7. Eth. Faulkner - Great competitor, very smart

8. Thomas - Could move up list quick if he improves as much as he has in FB

9. Barker - Great floor leader. Clutch shooter

10. ? Could be anybody

I think Vanhoose has clearly seperated himself from the pack. After that you can mix them up.

The list was written by Mark Maynard for the 16th. The 15th was written by Steve LeMaster.

For those that followed the season all the way to the end of the Regional tournament, there were several 16th Region players whose "stock" greatly increased as the season progressed. At their age, the Regional tournament is like a "2nd season" and improvement here can't be overlooked: Based on that premise:

1. Vanhoose (will be dominant #1 this year after big summer)

2. Ferguson (still a year away from #1, but heir apparent to Vanhoose)

3. Gill (Russell's Regional MVP, best athlete in 16th, greatly improved)

4. Thomas (His extra football "bulk & strength" will help him in bball as well)

5. Euton (#1 center in Region period)

6. McDavid (most heart in Region, many have caught up with him in bball)

7. Daniels (could lead region in scoring, strong in fundamentals)

8. Blair (if he starts out healthy this year, could easily be top 5)

9. Jackson (depending on how hard he worked this summer, easy top 10)

10. Barker (Mr hustle in 16th, never say die)

Also, I believe you have to look at more than points per game. Defense, rebounding, steals, and turnovers all should play a huge part in the ranking.

I'm very suprised that Blair wasn't on the list, he was at #8 last season and I figured he'd be top 5 this year, I didn't expect him to fall out of the ratings, especially after they went to the Sweet 16 last season.

Blair got mono last year and never really recovered his strength, I look for him to have a big year this year, Russell also got a transfer named Robinson that I hear is playing very well , and I was told Ross Turner may be the most improved player in the 16th this year.

Russell was rated #1 by cats Paws

Ashland #2 (although they lost two starters and Elliot county only lost one and beat them )

Elliot #3

Rose Hill #4 Look for Rose Hill to get stronger as they mature throughout the season, if they find a consistent outside shooter, they will be hard to handle

This is a more realistic place for Gill right here. I think you have to have Gill and Blair on this list, especially after the summer that they both had. Gill has turn into the player many believed he could become and if Austin can stay healthy he in a top 10 player for sure. This would be my list right here:

1. Vanhoose --- No question he's the #1 player

2. McDavid --- I think he'll have a big senior season

3. Daniels ----- He's got a lethal stroke, best pure shooter

4. Gill ----- Has had a tremendous summer and added muscle

5. Thomas ---- Ashland's new style will fit his athleticism

6. Ferguson --- Next year will be his year at the top

7. Euton --- I think he's still a year or two away from being dominent

8. Wilcox ---- Healthy for the 1st time ever, Worked hard all summer, will be a force

9. Blair ---- Everyone keying on Vanhoose will lead to points for Blair

10. Jackson --- will put himself on local map this year.

This list looks good to me. UKCATSFAN, has Gill been improving alot over the offseason?

I looks as though everyone around the 16th region has forgotten that East Carter is returning its leading scorer from last season, Van-Allen Burge. On one of the previous posts someone mentioned Hollingsworth from West Carter, and Burge is for sure a better player all around than Hollingsworth.
