Burge is a nice player, but the topic it top ten, on the top ten list, who would you rank him ahead of ? I would probally pick Johnson as the best player on the raiders, the kid works.:thumb:

If we are going on potential then fine but as of right now Thomas is the better player. Euton and Jackson are both too young and dont have enough experience, given time they will probably be #1 and #2 on this list, just not yet.

A good observation by GIAT also, probably due to partisanship, he is a little more sure of this than are many others. It illustrates why preseason ratings are meaningless. I hope Euton, both Jacksons, and Thomas are all four near the top in late February and early March when it has some meaning.

 

However, VanHoose clearly deserves to be rated at the very top and I hope he remains in that position at the end of the season. After VanHoose, it is really "pot luck".

I dont doubt their talent(s). But I feel that experience is just a much if not more important. I'll take a talented upperclassmen over a freshman with unlimited potential.

One exception... Euton and Jackson may have as much or more experience in terms of high stakes, high profile competition as any players in the Region.

 

I'm not going to knock Matt, he's a great competitor and an even better kid, but lack of experience is not the factor you think it is.

GIAT and Fastbreak both make valid points. I think it is very difficult to rank players especially when they are young like Jackson and Euton. I know first hand that both have improved dramatically.

 

In regards to Matt he absolutely could be top 5, no doubt. He has great athletecism and most importantly he is willing to work, listen, and improve.

 

Like I said it is tough at this point. Outside of Vanhoose at the top spot I think the rest are argueable.

I understand that they have played in big AAU games. I guess I mean that their lack of consistent varsity success against good competition may keep them a notch to two beloew some players, atleast right now.

That's interesting because I was thinking that Daniels rating was spot on. I only saw him play a couple of times last year. One was against Rose Hill and he was just great.

 

I really like the Faulkners, one in particular. I love their willingness to compete. I think if Blair had been healthy last season he would be on the list and quite possibly will be there by Christmas. The problem is, who drops off? Is this the deepest talent pool the region has had in 3 years?

 

On the other hand I have never seen Haney so I couldn't include him. I guess you could say my list is slightly 64th/63rd biased.

That is the first time and most likely the last time I will ever be call Mr. Kissenger.

I think most people will agree with the following

Euton and Jackson will be very good players this year, next year they will be

DOMINANT players as the only players who can hold them in check will have graduated

Rose Hill is geared up for a 3 year run (if they just keep the wheels on the road)

Athletically, Russell is about the only team that really matches up with them this year
