OYPreps
Let's hear those scores! Rose Hill and Russell were there.
shooterx3
Rose Hill came from behind to beat Jackson County with Euton hitting a big 3, and Jackson making some big free throws late South Laurel showed the advantage of having 3 players who won the state tournament as sophomores and handled Russell pretty easy after the first ten minutes, Proffitt looked very good and Trey Smith at 6'9 needs to be playing college ball somewhere, they had 26 and 21. Russell is still missing a couple of key football players, but they wouldnt have made a difference tonight South Laurel executed much better Typical slow start for Russell
Les
Trey played great. He played great in the post area and looked very comfortable doing it. Ty looked good as well and I thought Matt Gilbert came off the bench and looked solid.

duck1220
:fire: The best thing to come from this game was to see the maturity level of Jon Vanhoose. With the Devils down by a huge margin, Jon continued to work just as hard as in the first minutes of the game. He has become a leader this year and the Devils will only get better. Should the Devils at this time be a big favorite to win the 16th Region over Ashland, Elliott Co, Rowan and Greenup?? NO Will they be at the end of the season? Most Likely. :thumb: By the way, Shooterx3, thanks again for dinner.

russellrooter
I watched 3 games of the KBA Showcase and while I don't have the exact score, here's a recap. Southwestern got beat by Warren East by a very close score, RoseHill beat Jackson County by 1 or 2 points (game in the 40's), Russell got beat by South Laurel by twenty some points. In the Rose Hill game, I thought Jackson and Euton looked like they will be legit D1's by the time they graduate. Rose Hill had a better supporting cast than I thought but and I would rate them a contender for the 16th Region but more likely a top 1/3 team. With Russell, Vanhoose solidified himself as a Top 25 player in the state as he was easilily one of the top players on the floor. Scott Gill started the game with one of the best dunks I"ve seen at the High School level and turned in a good defensive effort, but he "disappeared" at times. The rest of Russell's supporting cast struggled against a team with 3 D1 players and that will be contending for the state championship.

But I don't see Hammonds as a Division I player.
4chs
Proffitt and Smith, I'll grant you. But I don't see Hammonds as a Division I player. I expect Hammonds to sign with a D-1 school. A school such as Eastern or Murray might be the best fit, but don't be shocked if he ends up down in the land of Orange. He is a much better player than what he was able to show at last year's state tournament. He was getting so few touches that he seemed to try and force things when he did get the ball. He is South's best outside shooter and will be their most physical player on the inside this year as well.

HDE
I've been very impressed by Hammonds. He's big and strong and is a tremendous shooter. I don't follow South Laurel as much as Les and some others, but I would think Smith would be an even better prospect in baseball.

I just have trouble seeing him as a Division I shooting guard, unless he slims down and gets a little quicker. I would be shocked if Murray is recruiting him.
