This win moves Estill County to 4-0 in the district. Good win for the Engineers.

Great game all around, Powell County found a way to win in the end. Not a homer win at all fouls Powell 15, Lee Co. 17. Anything but a homer. Daniel Kinser had 33 for Powell, Christian Brewer 17, Cory Brewer 13 points. Jared Pelfrey 24, Aaron Charles 21, Tyler Campbell 14, and Josh Drake 12 points for Lee County. Both coaches had their teams playing very hard and with good sportsmanship the whole way.

Powell dominated the game from start to finish. Shelby Barnett led the way with 13 points and 8 steals. Powell had solid game from all starters and bench play for the Lady Pirates was solid. Four players in double figures for the Lady Pirates. Powell now 3-0 in district play.

I think Letcher Central and Powell County will make the regional tournament.

Paris is finally coming around after a slow start to the year. Montgomery County did what good teams do, find a way to win the close ones.

I suppose that Powell County is responible for Area 51, Ford's Theatre, and the grassing knoll shooter as well. Saturday's Game at Estill County: Powell shoots 26 free throws, Madison Southern 2. I guess that is a homer as well.

The history is documented because it is on the KHSAA website because an official/or fan at Powell County actually has taken the time to enter the old records. As for the game in question, I guarantee you that I had the best seat in house and the officials in the second quarter started calling the game closely. The Powell players backed off a little as to not pick fouls. Pulaski continued their physical play and continued to pick foul after foul. At the end of the the Pulaski coach showed very poor sportsmanship as did their fans.

Good win for Pirates. Record above .500 at 7-6.

Middlesboro should be the favorite and they are undefeated.

Leslie County and Hazard are my favorites. Followed closely by Owsley County and June Buchanan.

I have seen Owsley play twice this year and rebounding is a major issue. The graduation of Murrell really hurt the Lady Owls inside.

Coach Kyle Lively will have his Pirates ready for this one even without Daniel Kinser. They played well at Lee County without him in the second half. Powell by 5 in an up and down game.

Powell County dominated this game almost from the start. Powell had a 10 point lead at the half and steadily increased their lead in the second half. The Lady Pirates played this game without starting point guard Courtney Jones who is injured. The Lady Pirates laid to rest who is the favorite to win the 56th district title. Powell County scoring Shelby Barnett 16 points Ashley Lacy 16 Stevie Rogers 15 Kendra McFarland 14 Meghan Mays 4 Lyndsey Roe 2 Coach Ken Jones will find a way to win games.

Estill makes a good showing. They may be the sleeper in the 14th this season.
