jahearme Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Final from Paris. Anyone have details? I heard it was UGLY!:creepy:
ATown Pride Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Wow, I know Paris has a good team but would never thought they would play this close to MC
Option Right Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Montgomery led by as much as 13 in the second half but Paris fought back and closed it to one (35-34) late in the fourth quarter. Maggie Prewitt hit six free throws down the stretch to help save the win for Montgomery. Paris had their chances but they hit only 14-of-26 free throws. Prewitt finished with 21 and she hit 11 of 12 from the charity stripe. Paris played some tough defense but Montgomery made the plays at the end to pull out the victory. Yes it was an ugly game but sometimes it takes an ugly game to beat a very good team!
bigblueinsanity Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Very close game. Shows that anything can happen.
GO15AROD Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Paris is finally coming around after a slow start to the year. Montgomery County did what good teams do, find a way to win the close ones.
mcpapa Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Surprised by how close the score was. Not at all surprised that Prewitt led the Lady Indians to the win.
Plato Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 The lady Indians looked a little sluggish in this one, but give credit to the Paris defense. Montgomery didn't have very many open looks at the basket. Three of Paris' points came on a 60' buzzer beater. Maggie Prewitt is awesome - an absolute winner. I saw G-town College's coach there to watch her tonight. She's a steal for any NAIA school.

If you saw her at the mall or in the hall at school, you would wonder what all the fuss is about. As soon as she sets foot on a basketball court, then you know - it's like she was born and raised there.
IC Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Paris took away Montgomery's roll players and inside game. Down the stretch I thought the other 4 players on the floor watched and expected Maggie to carry them through the 4th quarter. Not a good thing if they expect to repeat as 10th region champs. I give all the credit to Paris and Coach Brooks for what they did defensively to get back in the ballgame. Once again Paris' shooting woes hurt them. Good luck to the Ladyhounds against Clark Co..

Come on now, your not that old to not understand that I would hope.
hounddawg Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Paris may not put up the points but they sure know how to stop the other team from doing the same. I believe Montgomery had been averaging close to 60 ppg. As soon as Paris can knock down shots, they will be tough to beat. Nice showing for yet another class A school!

I know at half time MC was shooting 18%...I don't think it got much better. I doubt Paris was the real cause. MC beat Paris by more than 20 earlier in the year. I doubt their focus was much. Get it in gear MC.

I don't buy that FB15G8 ... if ever shot a person takes is contested then that makes that shot a lot tougher. Paris' defense was tough all night long and if they weren't playing defense then the Lady Indians could've shot lay-ups all night but that wasn't the case. Maybe the reason why they couldn’t shoot lay-ups is the fact that Paris was playing defense. Montgomery beat a struggling Paris team the first time around by 22 because the Ladyhounds "gave up" early. This time when it appeared that Montgomery was ready to blow it open, Paris stepped up their game. :thumb: Montgomery is a great team but don't knock a team just because they played that "Great Team" close. :irked: And yes, Montgomery focus was there (see Maggie Prewitt), because if it weren’t, then they would’ve lost!
IC Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 It did look like Montgomery Co. was shocked that Paris didn't just lay down for them in the second half. The Lady Indians did not match Paris' intensity. They did watch as M. Prewitt saved them from a district loss.
kysportsfan4life Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Maybe they just kind of overlooked this team since they beat them by over 20 earlier in the year. Sometimes teams will do that if they think they are so much better than another team, and then they will be surprised when this team makes a run at them. If this was the case, I can assure you that next time they will not overlook them.
