I was hoping those easy shots they were getting early in the game but could not get to go down would not come back to haunt them. But that is just basketball, It didnt sound like Raceland played their best game and still had a chance at the end to get a win. Gritty effort though!

Vanderhoff had a heck of a game, sounded like everyone else just never seemed to get untracked. Heck of an effort though.

He played the point tonight nice floor game ,I thought Boyd looked to run more tonight. Solid game for Boyd, they took advantage of easy shots by getting the ball out and running when it was available. They shot 50% for the game.

Boyd held the ball at the end of the game because they had the lead and Rowan refused to come out and guard them. They just saged er inside around Selby.

Tore ACL right knee, after tearing the left 2 yrs. ago. Wonderful young lady, great student, kind of puts sports in perspective. I wish her nothing but a speedy recovery. This one has a special place in my heart.

So if your #1 & 2 draw each other in the 1st round and lets say your #3 gets the bye you could possibly have 2 of your top 3 teams in region not even make the region tournament, right. Im guessing thats the way it could be. Im not that familiar with a 5 team district.

Wow, thats a lot of landmines in the 57th. If anybody can fill your pain I can, we had to beat Lawrence Co. and Steve Blevins his jr.& sr. years just to get to the 2nd round of districts. I assume the 57th is a blind draw, but dont hold your breath as you see it did not work for us or Lawrence Co. either. Who is hosting the 57th this yr.

The smaller schools are always going to be at a disadvantage, it might be a way of rewarding them by just being able to get to the tournament. Then the old ping pong balls might fall in their favor. All the better teams winding up in the same bracket. Beechwood was a single A team that went to the championship game last year. And L.C.A. winning the year before. Coaching would play a huge role, would a coach have the nerve to start his #3 pitcher against a team he should clearly beat to save his # 1 & 2 for a tougher team?

I have not talked to anyone who does not like the new 8 team State Tournament format better than the old 4 team sectional winner tourny. So if 8 is better than 4 would 16 be better than 8? Thoughts....

At Boyd Co. the answer to both questions is yes. They have been going to Cocoa Beach Fla. for about 20 yrs. They play 8 or 9 varsity games on the trip and usually 2 JV games a day. There is time allowed for both kids and parents to spend quality time together during the trip. If your child is lucky and say he makes JV team as a 7th grader your looking at making this trip for 6 yrs. And I promise, if you are a fan of baseball these will be some of the best times of your life. I would strongly recommend any school that has ever thought of making this type of trip to do so.

Guess the old saying is true a pressing team does not like to be pressed. Harrison had all kinds of trouble with the press Boyd finally went to in the 4th qtr. Thought they should have went to it a little sooner to force some tempo.

Never saw a team full court press and half court trap the entire game, and then run 2 or 3 minutes off the clock between shots on offense. Almost a modern day stall offense. Huge contrast in styles between offense and defense. Does Harrison play this way all the time or something they just tried this one game. Got to give them credit though they got a great look every trip either a layup or a 5 footer or they would not shoot.

Boyd Co. plays George Washington High, out of Charleston W VA. at 5:00 in Williamson. They better come to play GW usually puts a pretty nice team on the floor.

If you have never been to the Williamson Field House you are in for a treat real nice venue. Its a throw back to a different era. A 1920s or 30s Hoosiers type atmosphere wood chair back seats and such.

Boyd Co. plays them every yr. as we do later on this season, they are loaded with athletes which explains why they only lost by 19 to HHS.

Johnson Central will be really good as will Paintsville, look for Lawrence Co. to have their grand opening to the 15th after a couple off somewhat down yrs. the young talent has gotten older.

Noticed the stat line for Ryan Crisp was wrong, he came off the bench when Mayhew got in early foul trouble he had 7 pts. in the 1st half and played great defense. He is coming along nicely.
