I was not there but by the discussions I've read I think that the official probably did the right thing by not blowing the whistle. If their is still confusion with all the time that people have had to ask questions and analyze I don't think anyone could expect the official to make the call as quickly as it happened. He let the players play in this particular situation. Just my opinion, no dog in this fight!!! -

Sorry for the double post...My internet is not doing real well.:sssh: -
I believe the Kentucky State Championship Trophy speaks for itself. This is the grandest (if that is a word) trophy for the grandest tourny in the state. It is every team for themselves. No Classes to hide in. The cream rises to the top in Kentucky Hoops and I believe that basketball deserves that MONSTEROUS state championship trophy.

I believe her performance in the Regional Tournament spoke for itself. Pretty sure she averaged over 20 for the tourny. -

I really hate that for him, with his brother Ryan being a senior and all. You know they battled their hearts and for it to come down to that really stinks for Josh. Good luck to Ryan where ever he ends up, and good luck to Josh and Eddie for the rest of their careers at Bell. -
I agree with GRC I'll take it any way you want to give it. On the other hand I think the new design really loods CHEAP. Just my opinion, I've held both the district and the regional trophy this season from the Montgomery Co. girls titles and I was pretty disappointed in the trophy itself. The district trophy they recieved was already falling apart. I definatley like the old design the best and they were unique with the outline, no mistaken where it is coming from!!!!

Does anyone know which of the Whitaker brothers missed the freethrows down the stretch or was it both of them? -

Although I disagree with Mason Co. being the only place in the 10th region to hold the tournament I do agree with the rest of your post. Mason Co. has had some teams in recent years that would have won the tourny on a dirt court by the river somewhere, and I for one don't dispute that. On the other hand this doesn't mean that it is okay for them to host it tournament every year. I can't speak for everyone in the 10th Region but my opinion on this has absolutely nothing to do with Mason Co. and I have a lot of respect for their program, but I don't believe that it should be all about money like it is in the 10th region. Like I said before all the regions in the state that don't have a neutral site rotate the regional tournament which means that from year to year they may not make as much money. The 14th region for example is not going to make as much money when the region is at Breathitt Co. as apposed to Perry Central or Knott Co.

KABC "POY" and "COY" awards - 16th Region
bricklayer replied to oldrambler's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Congrats to both!!!!!:thumb: Does anyone know about any of the other regions. A link maybe, that may have a list of all 16 of the regional selections from the KABC? -
I think that this has to be the most logical response for Mason Co. fans. No one can fault them for wanting to keep the 10th Regional Tourny for necessity reasons but this is not their argument. I don't know why the 10th region thinks that it is the only one that may lose a dollar or two by moving the regional tournament. All the other regions in the state that don't have neutral sites rotate their tourny's and of course some of those years they may not make as much money, but it is rotated in fairness to all those involved.

I'm glad you brought this up early in the discussion because I figured it would be one of the main things people would disagree about. I know personally it did make a difference for a while, the difference eventually goes away over the course of a game but few minutes of adjustment could be the difference in a game.

This seems to come up every year, especially in the 10th Region, so I figured I would just start a thread devoted to the topic. I personally feel kind of stupid asking the question but I know that a lot of people feel differently about the subject. Is it an ADVANTAGE to play at home during the postseason? I believe it is definately an advantage. Like a point that I saw on another thread, this advantage doesn't guarantee a win but it does improve your odds. I believe that it is an advantage in a lot of different aspects of the game. To start, not having to travel on a bus for a game, getting home earlier, fans that may not otherwise drive an hour to watch a game. A big advantage to playing at home is depth perception. The depth perception in most gyms is different. Some gyms may have a wall right behind the goal, some gyms may have bleachers, the lighting could be different, there are a lot of aspects that go into depth perception while shooting. I'm not saying that you can't shoot on the road, I'm just saying that it may take a little bit to adjust to the different surroundings. This is my opinion on Homecourt Advantage and I know that it will probably get worked over numerous times so what does everyone else with experience honestly think?
