I have just learned that the KABC awards for the 16th Region in Girls Basketball have been announced.

 

Player of the Year = Jessica Fortman (Russell)

 

Coach of the Year = Bob Trimble (Racleand)

 

These two will be honored at the Girls State Tournament in Bowling Green.

Congrats to both as both are deserving!

Fortman has also been a very special player for the Devils. The 16th region imo is as loaded with talent as any in the state. :thumb:

Congrats to Coach Trimble and the excellent season his Lady Rams have had. I believe that many 16th region coaches could have received this award this year (Kidwell, Bradley, and Euton to name a few) but Trimble is certainly well deserving with An All A regional championship and a District Championship.

 

Congrats also to Miss Fortman who has had an excellent varsity career at Russell. She has definitely lived up to the potential that caused such a buzz when she first came to Russell. Best of luck to her as she continues her career at Buffalo.

Congratulations to both, very deserving, but I'd guess those who aren't familiar with the KABC will offer up the same questions/arguments for other players/coaches just like last year.

Trimble with perhaps the best season a Lady Rams team has ever had.

 

Fortman- not only was she top 5 in literally every statistical category, she is a fantastic kid. It's been a privilege watching her grow as a player, but even more importantly, into the young lady that she is. We will miss you dearly Jess!!! Perhaps one of these days we'll see you on tv playing at the highest level. Anyone that knows you and your work ethic wouldn't doubt for a second that if that's a goal of yours, it could very well be achieved!!!

Congrats to both! You know it warms the Red Rambler's heart to see Raceland AND Russell get their due props!
