  1. The Raiders graduated 3 important Seniors, but the well is not dry by any means. They will return 3 players with significant Varsity experience, and will be the favorite to win the 29th District in my opinion. As the defending 8th Region All A champions, they could possibly repeat a trip to Frankfort. But, like most schools in the 8th, depth could be an issue.

  3. Gallatin will definitely miss their point guard, but hopefully will return enough experience to help ease the transition. Like you, I think most of this will be a crapshoot.
  4. Ouch! I hope you are wrong about Gallatin. I think Trimble will be solid also, this could be the year they finally advance out of the 29th District and make some noise in the 8th Region tournament.
  5. Good point, many are giving Anderson County the benefit of the doubt, due to their recent history. They may very well be very good before all is said and done, but I would think it will be a work in progress throughout the season.
  6. I have no doubt that Anderson will get after it, the SK freshman is very good......but it will take more than that to win the region, and Coach Holland will do a great job at Shelby County.
  7. Don't really have a valid argument, pretty much just guesswork. Keep in mind that Anderson County at this point, will be getting love due to name only. They will have many unproven varsity level players.
  8. My take on the upcoming 8th Region season. Keep in mind that this is a lot of guesswork, as the 8th seems wide open for about six teams. 1) Walton Verona 2) Shelby County 3) Simon Kenton 4) Gallatin County 5) Trimble County 6) Anderson County 7) Henry County 8) Grant County 9) Williamstown 10) Carroll County 11) Collins 12) Oldham County 13) South Oldham 14) Owen County 15) Spencer County 16) North Oldham 17) Eminence Your thoughts?
  9. The Bearcats will be the overwhelming favorite to win the 8th Region All A, and will be one of the favorites to win the 8th Region. Much of this depends on being able to fill the vacated point guard spot, and the healthy return of Luebbe.
  10. John Pont is the new head coach at Mercy Academy.
  11. TX Glory and Firecrackers-Rico played in the televised game. Both VERY good teams, the Sluggers won a scrimmage against the TX Glory on Monday, but don't remember the score. TX Glory coach Kevin Shelton is a class act. The Sluggers only "actual" loss during the week, came at the hands of a very good Tulsa Elite team during pool play. The game that "eliminated" the Sluggers, was on Sunday morning in the final eight, against Texas Impact Gold. Tied after 8 innings, the Sluggers had to leave to catch their flight, which they almost missed. The Sluggers wins were against TX Glory-Shelton(scrimmage), Oklahoma Exclusive Gold, Colorado Styxx, TX Glory-Adkins, Louisiana Voodoo, Bownet Gold, Miami Stingrays Gold, and Texas Aces Express Gold.
  12. I would assume that Wright will run the point. She has a lot of experience at it, and the more the ball is in her hands, the better off Grant will be.
  13. Will be a HUGE question mark for them. Point guard by committee will be hard to do.
  14. The Louisville Lady Sluggers 18u Gold finish 5th, out of 64 teams in the Colorado/Triple Crown Sports Tournament. The Sluggers competed in the Super 64/Power Pool portion of the tournament, to finish 5th, the highest a Slugger team has ever finished in this event.
  15. How about we honor the new, uprising class of people in this country by changing the names of sports/school mascots in their honor............the Offended. Boone County Offended has a nice ring to it. :lol2:

  17. If nomination was all it took, every high school team in the state would have at least one representative at the tryouts. Trust me, the kids are invited.
  18. Gallatin County has a few playing Summer softball. 2014 Danielle Nichelson P Cincy Magic 18u 2014 Kelsea Satchwell IF Derby City Crush 18u 2015 Hannah Dossett 3B/1B Louisville Lady Sluggers 18u Gold 2016 Abby Humphries P/OF Sportsreach 18u
  19. "Politics" is obviously a word we throw around very loosely. Without getting into details about private conversations, I will just say that when common sense is not used in the selection process, we can only assume "politics", or worse..........incompetence is at work.
  20. Her getting and accepting a scholarship offer from UK heavily outweighs an all star game. I doubt they have any regrets.
  21. Well, sometimes parents know what is best for their child.
