The Louisville Lady Sluggers 18u Gold finish 5th, out of 64 teams in the Colorado/Triple Crown Sports Tournament. The Sluggers competed in the Super 64/Power Pool portion of the tournament, to finish 5th, the highest a Slugger team has ever finished in this event.

Someone at the office said they saw some of that tournament on TV. Wasn't the sluggers he saw though.

TX Glory and Firecrackers-Rico played in the televised game. Both VERY good teams, the Sluggers won a scrimmage against the TX Glory on Monday, but don't remember the score. TX Glory coach Kevin Shelton is a class act. The Sluggers only "actual" loss during the week, came at the hands of a very good Tulsa Elite team during pool play. The game that "eliminated" the Sluggers, was on Sunday morning in the final eight, against Texas Impact Gold. Tied after 8 innings, the Sluggers had to leave to catch their flight, which they almost missed. The Sluggers wins were against TX Glory-Shelton(scrimmage), Oklahoma Exclusive Gold, Colorado Styxx, TX Glory-Adkins, Louisiana Voodoo, Bownet Gold, Miami Stingrays Gold, and Texas Aces Express Gold.

I know that a big part of this is player exposure, college recruiting, etc, etc...

But I'm curious about that statement and the timing.

It is a tournament, right? It sounds like the Sluggers didn't plan to make it that far.

Not uncommon for flight times to interrupt late games on sunday at a week long exposure tourney , by sunday a great majority of the college coaches are gone . The goal of going there is long accomplished by sunday . Winning , or placing highly is gravy , took me a while to understand that but at 15-16u it sinks in.
