  3. Cant blame the kid for wanting to transfer with Olsen's sudden departure. however, I dont blame the AD for making him stay at least one year. Tubby denied Joe Crawford a release and he turned out okay. I think the Withey kid is a little suspect. Originally committed to UofL then reneged to go to Arizona. Seem to recall that Arizona hired his personal strength coach or something like that to get him. Sound like the kid has a comittment problem
  4. Agreed! Not sure of the circmstances surrounding the tryouts but if the coach did this he is just causing himself unneccesary problems. Two days of tryouts and if they are not good enough let them go. If you want to see if new kids trying out can play just put them against your returning players and see if they can handle it. Then a coach can decide if they are worth taking the extra time to reteach the system to them. Two days of tryouts are not going to make or break a teams season. If this coach's tryout is on a message board, im pretty sure it made it to the schools AD and principals office.
  5. Does anyone know who is in charge of this event?
  6. He got four games last season for rules violations and he broke the summer dead period this year while the school was still on probation. I still havent figured out why the player was allowed to stay there after the coach was suspended for rules violations.
  7. He was close to being fired. This is his second violation in a year. He was suspended last season 4 games . The school and the J-Town program was already on probation when the second violation occurred. Coach Morrow and 4 other Jeff. Co coaches broke the dead period rules and have been suspended from 2 -4 games. According to the article he will be terminated if another problem occurs.
  8. According to the courier Journal he could sit out 9 games if they play 4 games max in the KOB.
  9. Male is not very good! I saw the Fairdale game and they gave Male all they wanted. Also Male cant practice since school has been canceled due to power outage from the storms. If this game is played St.X wins big.
  10. Fairdale returns 9 of top 11 players from last years 22-11 regional runner-up team. However, they must replace leading scoring JaQuan Ransom's 22ppg. Ransom was doubled and boxed and one all year which allowed some of the other players to step up. If the Bulldogs shoot well from the outside could be one of the top teams in 6th region. Fairdale retuns four starters: Quintrell Morris, Josh Stroud, CJ Mack. Jake Fahringer. Look for Sr Montay Andrews to be the 5th starter as he had a great summer. Jr Anthony Claypool could be the missing shooter. He can fill it up from the three point line. 6'4 Josh Stroud is a rising Sophomore that started as a freshman. Stroud didnt get to play in the post season last year due to an injury. He played for Eddie Fords hoop stars and had a pretty solid summer.
  11. Still waiting on Eastern Orca. From what im hearing, they had an assistant coach who violated the rule also. Coach Klein from ST.X was at Mid America who was hosting a different AAU event.
  12. The Dead peiod is June 25-July 9th. Coaches only had to wait one more day before attending the Hoops fest. Expect more coaches to be disciplined including Eastern and St.X.
  13. I agree also. Its an easy rule to follow. Who is to say that these coaches are not requiring them to play AAU. The Seneca coach had his team fundraising during the dead period and said he did not know he was violating the rule. Requiring your kids to fundraise during the dead period to me is worse than just watching them play. The first day of the hoops fest was the last day of the dead period. How difficult would it have been to wait one more day or check the KHSAA website to make sure of the dates. The dead period is discussed in every rules meeting that the KHSAA conducts for each sport.
  14. According to #6 on the Heat index rules it says you have to take it every 30 minutes if the heat index requires you to adjust practice. However, AD's have instructed and it has been heavily emphasized to do it every 30 minutes regardless, because the weather can change quickly. At the start of practice it may be cloudy, 10 minutes later, sunny, hot and humid. Better to be safe than sorry.
  15. Any coach who tries to find away to break the Heat index rules is putting his career in jeopardy. Most H.S. football coaches have to turn in their heat index charts to their AD's on a daily or weekly basis.
  16. Most schools will allow them to play unless they contribute to the varsity, especially if the team makes the playoffs. Most schools also have a rule that if you quit a sport during the season you have to wait until that season ends before you can play another sport.
  17. The courier said 2200 in the paper. 3200 is still not enough to move to Freedom Hall. Broadbent would be the best bet if you can secure a date with all the conventions at the Fairgrounds. The convention center is nice but to costly. The LIT was there a few years back and darn near went broke. The Gardens charges the LIT and the 6th and 7th regions $2,000 a day thats why they have moved to Bellarmine. This event needs more corporate sponsorship so they can properly advertise and sell the game. I was at Mid America for a national AAU event and asked people if they were going to the game and they said "what game!"
  18. Where should the game be played at? I think it would be embarrasing to only have 2,200 fans show up in Freedom Hall. The event would lose money. We had probably the best boys and girls team in years and no one showed up.
  19. Louisville Eastern won the KOB/State 96/97 year. Fairdale won the KOB, LIT, & State in 93/94 year.
  20. I would like to see how their records compare from the 70's on. I would think they would be pretty close.
  21. Coach Bailey has his work cut out for him at Valley. Past administration has let the schools athletics and facilities go down. Coach Bailey did a good job last year as Valley improved over the season. He just needs to keep building a positive atmosphere and continue with the discipline. A lot of kids did not make it through the season last year. They seemed to get better by subtraction.
  22. I saw Dayvon Slone play at Fairdale two weekends ago in an AAU tournament and he can shoot. He should fit in with Coach Curry's style of play.
  23. Not so sure about this. UT signed 5 McDonalds all americans in this years recruiting class. If you want to know more why she is successful read one of her early books, "Reach for the Summitt." This Lady is a fierce competitor!
  24. I think Jeff. Co Ad's are getting mixed messages from the new administration. On one hand they have been told not to schedule games vs private schools, then Dr. Berman doesnt vote for the new proposal. Unlike the former Jeff. Co Superintendant Daschner, Dr. Berman is a big supporter of athletics and sees the value that athletics has on education. Maybe he see's the Public vs. Private debate differently. I know he wants as much participation in athletics as possible. He is pushing for the Louisville middle schools to start soccer, baseball, and football (flag I believe) next year.
