Some of the best education happens in locker rooms of athletic teams. Like it or not without sports there would be alot more kids walking the streets uneducated. A coach missing a day to spend at the state finals is probably more productive than some of the wasteful seminars that schools systems send their teachers to attend.

Like I said every other year St. X and Trinity are in the same bracket. Simon Kenton did not have to play either of them until the finals. This year T & X are in opposite brackets and just like 2007 they are both in the finals.

Most coaches use there professional days or get their classes covered. In Jeff. Co you had better be careful using sick days for reasons other than being sick. I think coaches should be allowed to go. I would consider it professional development. By the way who pays for the subs when principals and regular teachers go out of town for professional development? Coaches hardly ever miss school or get the chance for PD. they should get PD time for going

The way it is set up now in my opinion you will see either ST.X or Trinity in the 6A finals every year and every other year St.X vs Trinity in the finals. Since the new class system was put into place three years ago this is the way it has been. I just dont see any 6A public schools in Ky that can compete with them right now.

I'll take Trinity and Coach Beatty. Trinity is not the favorite and will play loose. Glaser puts too much pressure on his kids to win this game. He wouldnt let them celebrate beating Trinity in the regular season because they have lost to them in the playoffs. With Trinity playing well at the right time and X playing tight and not to lose, the rocks do it again.

PRP did not find out about this until this week and were not happy about a team dropping out 5 days before the scrimmage. They really wont be happy if they find out SL knew over a month ago they would not participate. Did Seneca get to scrimmage? I know they called Fairdale this week who had a classic yesterday, looking for an opening.

You could debate this all day and not agree with it. Its hard for a kid to turned down that kind of money when people like Vacarro and his parents are telling him what a great deal it is. $140,000 sounds like a lot to people who dont have a lot of money. However, in reality it is not a lot of money. If he dont make the NBA this kid will be broke in no time. Antoine Walker and other professional athletes are broke after making millions. On the other hand do you really think this kid would have survived with pitino? He has a history of doing well with troubled kids, but not all of them (Derrick Caracter)

Lets just take all the fun out of Friday night high school Football: No bands, cheerleaders, music, and crowd can only cheer after a play is over. That way no one gets the blame for losing except the losing team. Of course it will be a boring Friday night of football.

I just see a program going nowhere right now. Cardinal fans are now happy with a moral victory against UK. Please, under petrino we owned the series. He left Coach K with 20 starters off a Orangebowl team. Quit blaming Petrino. Coach K was overwhelmed with this job. Weeding out the bad is not discipline. Keeping players under control and in line is.

I thought this game showed how bad UOFL really is. UK had the ball for only 1:12 in the third quarter and we scored only 6 pts. Four times in the red zone and couldnt score a TD. The Toss sweep run twice is the wost play call in the history of this rivalry. Since everyone is throwing out Gruden. Why not mention Jay Gruden former UofL QB who has played and Coached in the arena league football for over 20 years. He would definitely bring some excitement back in the offense

I dont think there is any question that those schools wanted out. They think they have a better chance of winning. Most of the schools in the 7th region right now are big schools 6A in football enrollment. Currently there is only 3 6A schools in the 6th (Butler, PRP, and Southern). All of those schools in the 7th region want the benefit of having large enrollments but dont want to compete with each other. That was all the talk at last years regionals that it wasnt fair that supposedly all the good teams were in the 7th. They dont call them St. Male and University of Manual for nothing. They are the Flagship public schools in Louisville and they get what they want. The 7th region teams staying are also happy. Lose Male, Manual, and St. X pick up Bullitt Co. schools and Southern. Political power is definitely in the 7th region.

Actually this was started by Manual not Male. Manual wanted it changed because of Mercy moving. Manual is the school that wanted out of the 7th. They think this gives them the best chance of winning. Male is also not upset about it as evident by their basketball coaches comments in the courier. Male hasnt been to state since 01 and I dont recall Manual going in recent times. I think they will find the 6th region tougher than they think. In girls the last two state champs were from the 6th. Central was state runner up in boys in a supposedly down 6th region last year. A lot of tradition in the 6th. Im sure Coach Mabry at PRP with close to 700 wins is not going to roll over for Male and Manual and neither will Fairdale and other top teams in the region.

Doesnt make sense with the Bullitt Co. Schools going to the 7th or Southern. Fairdale, Bullitt Central, Southern and North Bullitt are 5 min apart. Bullitt East I can see in the 7th.

Looks like they are looking into it but dont have any grounds to stop it. It would cost the NCAA to much money to hire staff to enforce this. Great recruiters have always figured out way around the rules. They will do something else if the NCAA stops it. They limited phone calls, coaches started texting.

Great hire for Pitino! Its about time he gets back into the recruiting game. This goes on everywhere and until the NCAA stops it will continue. It started with Larry Brown Hiring Danny Mannings dad at Kansas. Lets not forget that Coach Cal hired Milt Wagner with no coaching experience to get his son Dejuan in his first year at Memphis. Opened the season with a 61-12 win over Iroquois. Led by Sr. QB Bradley Vincent. Threw for around 2,000 yds as a junior. Coach Miller thinks he can reach 3,000 yards this year. Vincent accounted for 8 tds vs Iroquois: 5 passing and 3 rushing. The dawgs run the spread offense: shot gun, no huddle, 5 or 6 receivers. They have a host of talented receivers: 6'3 Quintrell Morris, 6'2 Marvin McAtee, 6'0 Brent Weston, 5'11 Josh Sweat, and 5'11 Richard Rudoloph. The rushing attach is led by Austin Woosley and Jordan Thompson. The defense runs a 53. This team is talented with a lot of seniors. Big question mark for the season is Depth. Several kids play both ways. If the Dawgs stay healthy they could go far in 4a playoffs.

I think Eastern is the best team in Louisville. They are one of the most atletic teams Ive seen in the Ville in awhile. They won a very competitive Derek Smith classic this summer. If they improve outside shooting, I think they are a heavy favorite in the 7th. They return 4 starters off of last years state tournament team.

This is very sad news. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. His father Derico Irvin is a current Asst. Principal at Fairdale High School. He had Just recently re-married. He is well respected at Fairdale. This news has also been devasting to his colleagues. Also his uncle Montrelle Irvin is the basketball coach at Shawnee H.S. Keep this family in your prayers. They are wonderful people and are going to need a lot of support.

Because the last two programs he has left in college have been in trouble for NCAA violations. If you want to believe he had no knowledge of the situations you are very naive. I guess you also believe that Eddie Sutton had no knowledge of the violations at UK during his tenure and that Dwayne Casey was just a rogue Asstant coach since Eddie was cleared of any wrong doing. I guess coach Cal never flew with the players and never thought to question why Rose's Brother was on the plane. Thats right he had no knowledge he wasnt paying. Coach Call will win and win big at UK. Just wondering if the NCAA will be in town when he leaves like his other two stops.

Yeah Indiana was just fine under Coach Sampson to. Easy to be blinded by a #1 recruiting class that he was able to sign in less than a month. UK will be scrutinized under him. He is recruiting the same type players that he did at Memphis. One and done players bring their agents and advisors with them. John wall will have plenty with him. I guess as long as he wins and he is never named in any wrong doing for his past programs being in NCAA trouble its okay.
