If Romans plays in this game, it will be closer than what Lee County Faithful's think. Lee is a very good team, but so is Powell. I wouldnt want to miss this one. Good Luck to Both.

I think the fan's as well need to grow up. Ive been to games were grown adults will yell and taunt a player. My gosh, these players are just kids. I dont blame coach hicks a bit for taking up for his players. If a adult is yelling at the Greenup team and making personal remarks than they need to be delt with. This is stupid, i dont think people should be able to get on here and post cruel comments about other individuals, but they do. This sight should be about positive stuff, but no, nothing ever positive ever comes from the members of this sight. Just about all members on this sight are jealous individuals, who couldnt make it playing sports themseves in high school, or who's child stinks at sports. GET A LIFE!

How is Neeley doing at his new school? Some people have said he was tearing it up? Havent heard much on here though!

Congrats to both. I wish both the best. Smith is one of the top athletes to ever play either sport at Owsley. Bowling is a heck of a baseball player, that can crush a baseball. I wish both well!

Thats impressive! I know at some High School fields, its like 250 dead center field. Wolfe, Jackson City, and OBI have rather small fields.

It had better be practiced. If a pitcher cant throw one in the dirt, trying to get the batter to chase one, than it will be a long season for any team. IMO, I beleive pass balls by a High School Cather is ridiculous, a great pitcher can look like the worst with a bad catcher.

How many strikeouts did Smith have in this game? Someone said he had like 15.

In your opinion, who are the top 10 players and teams?

Owens is no doubt an outstanding player, but tries to make a show out of the game of ball, rather than getting his teammates involved. I seen him make some extremely tough passes to some of the players, one been to Smith in the corner when he through a shuvvle pass from about 10 foot away and missed Smith by about 10 feet. The next trip Pat Elliot was turning around and he threw a rocket pass and then spun around. He missed Elliot by a large margin on this pass too. But things like this could possibly be coached with, if gaving a good coach. Not knocking any of his previous coaches. I just wanted to brag on Owens, Gilbert, and Smith. These three i beleive were the only ones dunking for the East in warm-ups besides the big kid from Boyle County. Owens was doing some incredible dunks in warm-ups, this kid has mad hops. I didnt know Smith had that kind of Hops either, he did some impressive dunks also. Good Luck to Owens, i would love to see him sign with a big college. Id like to watch a mountain boy on ESPN.

Owsley or Knott will be the cinderella stories this year.

He dont need a name. I slipped over and watched an Owsley practise the other day and reported some information to a old college coach of mine, and i will tell you this, Owsley's freshmens will be lucky to play on the JV. Bowling wasnt there for some reason, but Smith looks extremely smooth at short, and i watched him take some BP. He hammered 5 or 6 out of the ball park. They also had some little lefthanded batter pouncing the ball over the fence too, dont know who he was. Owsley looked pretty solid defensively, only noticed a couple of the batters that really stood out.

Still young? A couple of years to build this program back up? I dont think Owsley has ever had a baseball program due to the love of their little basketball team. I talked to an Owlsley player the other day and he said since he has being in high school, the Owsley County School system has done absolutely nothing to help this program. He also said that some of their staff, drive vehicles across their outfield to get to a greenhouse or something. I think this is ridiculous how a school only supports one sport (basketball) that has only had a couple of people receive actual scholarships to play collegiate ball. Well... actually, i can only think of one. IMO i feel Owsley should have their best team ever this year. If they dont win anything this year, it will definently be more than a couple of years to build this program. Besides, if their new coach is going to build the program, he might as well take over the little league system too. From what i heard, it is ridiculous too.

Are there any scrimage games taking place? IF so, i am really looking forward too coming and seeing what the 14th has to offer this year?
