Both Sorrell & Henderson played well again, although Sorrell didn't shoot well. He was 2 of 8 from the field and missed all three of his threes. Both of them missed 2 free throws which is rare. They both are great team players, which is exactly what Ky needed to beat Ind. They had 9 guys in double figure minutes and unlike the game at Conseco, no one got out of control offensively. Sorrell was 2/8 from the field, 2/4 FT, 5 rebounds for 6 points in 21 minutes. Henderson was 3/6 from the field, 2/4 FT, 4 rebounds for 8 points in 18 minutes.

Off game topic, but to show how special it is to play in this game from a 9th Region perspective- Only 34 9th region players have played in this game in its' 67 year history. Holmes has had 7, CovCath 5, Holy Cross 4, Highlands & Dixie 3, NCC, Newport & St Henry 2 and Dayton, Boone Co, Ludlow, Grant, Simon Kenton & Ryle 1.

I thought the same thing. After attending the game Friday night at Conseco, it was embarassing to host them in this building!

HC has not hired any assistant coaches.

I agree. There's no reason an assistant or a trusted parent couldn't call the stats in. Not only do the kids like to see the stats in print, but college coaches/recruiters use this tool to identify potential possible recruits too, I'm sure!

:sleep: 7 points, 3 assists & at least 5 rebounds in one half of a game full of state all stars is nothing? He also won the one on one competition against both states all star players & finished second in the three point competition. A pretty impressive nothing!

Great hire for Holy Cross. Things looked pretty dismal last week, but now , things are looking up again. Coach Hans has a great track record and I suspect he will have the Lady Indians contending for a regional title next year. Most of this year's regional semifinalists return next year, although he did loose two starting guards. I know the players are very excited and would love to start tomorrow.

And the third NKY rep, Sorrell, had both assists on McGraw's threes and rebounded well. Also won the 1 on 1 competition & runnerup in the 3 pt.Great to see all three finally play together.

NCC moves on to meet the winner of the tenth for a trip to Applebees. HC up 6-5 after 5 innings, then implodes defensively, giving up 6 unearned runs the rest of the way.

Roenker pitches complete game. Smith goes 5 for Beechwood and gets the loss. Elliot releived in the 6th after men were on 2nd & 3rd. Hit batsman with the bases loaded brings in the winning run.

Cory is a class act, as are ALL the coaches at HC. There are no very talented kids not playing sports at HC because of the coaches. Best of luck to both Cory and Danny in their new positions. They will both be missed.

Corey Sorrell has been named the 9th Region POY by the KABC. He will receive his award this week at Rupp Arena. This was announced at the HC basketball banquet.

I thought he was going to scratch the skin right off his arm!

Speaking of the acorn not falling far from the tree, how about the interview on ICN6 with Kim Warfield. Her answers were short and to the point. All she wanted to talk about was toughness & intensity. Sure sounds a lot like the Conner boy's coach from the 70's & 80's!
