Actually I'm from Estill County. After they won at our place, I decided to catch some more of their games, including at Johnson Central since I went to see my alma mater play as well. I come over to the games pretty frequently now and, trust me, no matter what sport or team I watch, I am an informed fan! Im not that smart to think of an idea like that anyway Prof...lol...

I think if your main reason is academics, then its ok. But soley for more glory days, its exploiting the kids I think. Most of them have no idea in 7th grade what the heck is going on.

WOW!! The Tigers are for REAL!! Good luck in the rest of the season over there. Coach Lively has to be up there in Coach of the Year running for the 14th.

Obviously a Eagles fan here. OK, first of all, if you haven't beat the team that beat you, you can't consider yourself the best. As I have posted on this forum, I am not from Lee County and normaly don't consider myself a fan, but this year I think Lee has the team that could go to Rupp. I really believe that Lee could give Leslie all they want and then some. They go at least 9 deep on the bench and if you play a man defense agains them, don't kid yourself into thinking Leslie could handle Tyler Rich. And if you zone, which everyone has had to do to stop Rich, the twins, and Ken Brandenburg will light you up from outside. Fetters can hit the mid range jumper consistantly. Defensivley sound are the Bobcats as well. Coming off the bench you have Witerspoon who SHUT DOWN cody gilbert while he was guarding him and you have Taulbee who is a great defender and a great slasher and ball handler/passer and dosen't miss free throws. I would love to see Leslie and Lee go at it. It would be a fun game, a close game, and well worth the price of admission!!

I like Jackson City but I think they will lose this one. KCC, IMO, is going out to prove a point here against a team that has knocked off Hazard recently. I look for a 9 point KCC win.

I disagree about your first couple of lines Napster. I have seen a couple of Magoffin Co. games and a couple of Johnson Central games and Magoffin Co will lose. They have a big team but are sometimes clumsy with the ball and Johnson Central will capatilize on these mistakes.

Boxing out is legal as long as you do not cause a player to lose a position that they have legaly obtained. When you push back, the player behind you has the position first and that is legaly a foul.

I think Estill County has the talent to have competed with those schools. But talent isnt the whole pie.

I don't really agree with redshirting kids for atheletic purposes. Basketball is a secondary reason these kids go to school and lets face it, 99.9% of them will never make a career out of it. For academic purposes, on the other hand, I am for a kid being held back to repeat a grade if needed. This will help him in the future. But holding a kid back so that he will develop better atheliticwise when he is ready academicaly for the next grade, that's almost a lie. But thats my opinion.

One thing is for sure, this will be a fun game to watch and I will surely be making the trip to Hazard, rain or shine!

Thats the thing about Lee County. Against Wolfe, Ken Brandenburg struggled offensivley, but Taulbee stepped it up. If you shut down one player, there are literaly 5 or 6 others to worry about.

I dont think Leslie County will have much of a problem here. I know Buckhorn is doing well this year, but I think Day will prove too much for the defence...IMO

I feel that the better team will win this game and I think it will be Lee. They beat Bell handily and bell came and beat PCC. This does not mean much a lot of times but I think Lee can win this one.

Nice post. I'd say that 90 percent of fans have no idea of the interpretation of rules, such as double foul, when the five second count starts and stops, the fact that a kicked ball has to be intentional to be called, things like that. Its amazing how many referees there are before a game. The reason I know the rules is because I have studied them over the years to become an informed fan. So, I agree that refs have a tough job and deserve more respect and thanks.

No doubt they take a bad rap. I don't evny them at all. Im with you Hall9. There isn;t enough money for me to donn the stripes.

I wonder if Jackson City has peaked too soon. Hope not, they got a good team and some nice kids over there!

I will say either Hazard or Lee County will represent the 14th in the state all a. If lee co gets past Jackson city in the first round, no doubt they will play hazard to decide the final.

I just joined the forum today and have posted a couple of times about the Lee County Bobcats. Now, normaly, I am not particularly a Lee County fan normaly but I saw these kids play at Estill County and saw them play at the Country Music tournament and a couple of other times and they made a fan out of me. They play through droughts and play tough all game. They showed class by applauding Johnson Central's team as they accepted their trophy. They have a deep bench with Taulbee (sorry I can't remember the first name) as IMO, one of the best ball handlers and penetrators in the region, and who dosen't miss free throws. Johnson and Witherspoon coming in to help tons defensivley. Tyler Rich is drawing so much defense that he frees up the rest of the team and I think that goes unnoticed a lot. Ken Brandenburg is a very solid guard and the two twins (im not going to try the name ) can plain shoot. And the other guard...number 3, sorry im drawing a blank on the name here, is showing MAJOR potential and has a nice shooting touch. Coach Wright is doing a fine job this year and is as fun to watch as the game sometimes. The reason i post this is that these kids are from a small school and don't get much recognition. Its nice to be able to tell them that a lot of us notice the great job you're doing this year and keep up the good work. You have converted one fan that I know of already. I may just have to start driving to Beattyville to watch 0all the Lee County games!

I noticed several posts at the start of the season that had the 14th as weak. But now that some of these teams have made some noise against non-reigon opponents (Example:Lee winning the Country Music Tourney), do u all still have the 14th as weak? Or are some of these teams better than you thought they would be...(Lee, Jackson City, Buckhorn, JBS). I think the 14th is the most competitive reigon with 1-5 being very close.

I've seen wolfe play a few times this year and what is sad to me is that at the end of the games, when it is clearly over, Gilbert pulls a Kobe Bryant. And by that I mean padding those stats. Taking advantage of the younger players that are in and demanding the ball and scoring.

From what I hear and see on the schedule part of this site, Lee is on a roll with some big wins against Bell and Johnson Cenrtall. I will take Lee Co just because of the streak and because I hear good things about them.

I think we should leave the refs alone. Their job is hard enough.
