There is something like 40+ 10th graders on the roster that was given to me.

The NKy Tribune has done a great job this season with highlighting NKy HS Football teams thanks to Terry Boehmker sports reporter of the NKy Tribune. They don't offer a paper edition and this article is about Dixie Heights but if you go to the bottom of the article you will see all the schools Terry has done so far. 2

Who will win the Ryle vs CovCath game on Friday Aug. 18th with the kick off coming at 7:30 pm I don't know. What I do know, is that if you can't attend the game (and I can't believe you aren't going to be there as the #1 vs. #2 in NKy with the opening of the new Stadium) you can listen in to the two best High School Football Announcers in the Commonwealth in Mark Wehry and Kevin Conner

08/18 07:00 PM (EST) CovCath Colonel Varsity Football vs. Ryle Raiders (KY) Covington Catholic Colonel Varsity Football vs. Ryle Raiders, live from Park Hills

AJ Mayer I am pretty sure, that hasn't been decided, as of yet! #12 Tyler Reusch Jr #18 Noah Powers So #19 Tre Schreiber So

Final score was 41 - 0 AJ Mayer 12/18/1 4 TDs 207 yards passing in 2 quarters and 1 play in the 3rd quarter CovCath through 3 quarters 327 vs NCC 55.

While I don't know for sure, my guess would be, as it has been for the last three years CovCath scrimaged Campbell County, a regular game (with some restrictions) played by the varsity players, then in the 4th quarter the JV takes over.

My guess is the Gardens won't be available on Friday nights, unless they don't have a event going on but Fridays in the Wedding and Party business you better be busy!

The majority of the concrete was poured early Thursday morning and can be walked on as we speak. The area that will be available for handicapped and VIP parking (my guess only) won't be ready until next week. BTW the Graveyard (that is the grass strip between the school's parking lot and the CovCath HWy :-) will from what I understand be made available for parking for games. Not sure about tonight's scrimmage game but for the season opener from what I understand will be ready.

And you are correct about all the schools doing a good job but Boone tends to get put down a tad too much, in my opinion in the Community, for being the inner city school.

This game is much more than just a scrimmage to the Families of CovCath and NewCath read the below article from the Ft. Thomas Matters. FORT THOMAS MATTERS: Good Cause in NC-CovCath FB Scrimmage Mark Wehry Kevin Connor and I will be broadcasting the Covington Catholic High School vs. Newport Central Catholic scrimmage Friday Night, August 11th. We encourage you to attend to be a part of this incredible night as both schools come together for Brian Evinston the brother of Head Coach Eddie Eviston. Brian was diagnosed with ALS last year and the funds raised Friday night will be used to help Brian and his family. If you cannot make the event, please tune into CovCath Internet Radio.http://covcath.ezstream.com/broadcasts/index.cfm... There won't be any losers in this scrimmage, only the love of Family helping Family!

CJ Fredrick is, as total to me by his family, is 183

Listed by CovCath as 170 but yes with all the summer games and workout he has been doing, 165 wouldn't surprise me one bit but my guess is with a college dietitian menu, they can beef him up and with the summer AAU over my guess he will put on some extra pounds or two in the next month or so. BTW don't confuse skinny with not being strong, the kid is in great shape and is indeed strong.

Watched from my new digs. Impressed with the receivers and their ability to catch and hang onto the ball but the kids I believe are looking forward to hitting someone other than their own teammates! :-) Looking forward to Friday night and the scrimmage game between NCC and CovCath and I really hope there is a huge crowd to come out and support [h=2]ALS Fundraiser Scrimmage[/h][h=1]CovCath vs NewCath[/h][h=2]Friday, August 11 at 7:00 pm[/h][h=3]FUNDRAISER FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE TO SUPPORT TEAM "B"ELIEVE AND ALS RESEARCH.[/h][h=3]TEAM "B"ELIEVE SUPPORTS BRIAN EVISTON (BROTHER OF CCH COACH EDDIE) WHO IS BATTLING ALS.[/h]

No, his Uncle Joe Fredrick played for Notre Dame when the current Iowa Coach was an assistant at ND!

Yes it is true! CVH never attended Villa, he was a student at Blessed Sacrament in Ft. Mitchell when he played for Villa and yes, I think he should have played for the 8th grade team at Blessed Sacrament. CVH played for Villa in his 8th grade year while attending grade school and didn't play for CovCath until his Freshman year.

Indeed CJ did! I received a call from him this morning. Proud of CJ and so happy for him and his family. That is now two committed D1 athletics on CovCath Basketball team (AJ Mayer Miami, OH Football, CJ Fredrick Iowa Basketball) and just waiting for the third to make his mind up.

Back in the memory bank: I can remember that first game at Holmes HS and walking onto the field under the lights and thinking I hate that I am not allowed to play but gee it's great that we finally have a team, no more cheering at Basketball games about us not having a Football team and WOW what a crowd and it's so loud and the guys are having a blast in the stands and the girls WOW. It was just last week wasn't it and it couldn't be 50 years ago could it?

Jake Walter has just received an offer from Xavier and has had more than a few calls from some Big Ten schools this week. That's now two CovCath basketball players getting offers from Xavier!

Two Mr. Football candidates right out of the gate with CovCath and AJ Mayer vs. Ryle and Jake Chisholm the #2 Team in NKy vs. #1 Team in NKy In the 1st Varsity Football Game under permanent LED lights with all new seating at Covington Catholic on Friday Nights (love typing that) Aug 18. Strongly suggest you arrive early to get a parking spot, as it will be packed.

HS sports are intended for HS kids and I won't change my mind and I am sure neither will some of you but.....it is the way I feel and have always felt. I will concede the point of the smaller schools to fill out a Frosh roster but honestly, I don't care one bit about the kid in the 8th Grade being a super star, he can wait his turn.

So just how many schools need 8th graders to field teams? I will give you the smaller schools Dayton, Silver Grove and the like but the Ryle's, SK, Dixie etc? Sorry just because the kid is good, he needs to wait his turn. Never have I see a Prom Queen or a Student Council member not attending HS. HS sports? For HS students!
