The NKy Tribune has done a great job this season with highlighting NKy HS Football teams thanks to Terry Boehmker sports reporter of the NKy Tribune. They don't offer a paper edition and this article is about Dixie Heights but if you go to the bottom of the article you will see all the schools Terry has done so far. 2

Don't quite understand Coach Koch at all, unless he is under orders but how do you play such great matches vs. Crew, Fire and Miami FC and then play like a bunch of Rec players is beyond me. No offense Getslow but LouCity isn't the Fire or Crew, so what gives with Koch or for that matter the team, in laying such an egg Saturday. I mean I understand you can have bad days but that bad of a day? FCC played, as if they could have cared less about Saturday match vs. LouCity and were looking forward to a full house of 35,000 + and the NY Red Bulls. If the score was 1-0 or even 2-0 okay you lost a match but 5-0? Tells me more about the Coach and the Player's heart/pride than I want to know about.

Who will win the Ryle vs CovCath game on Friday Aug. 18th with the kick off coming at 7:30 pm I don't know. While I don't know for sure, my guess would be, as it has been for the last three years CovCath scrimaged Campbell County, a regular game (with some restrictions) played by the varsity players, then in the 4th quarter the JV takes over.

My guess is the Gardens won't be available on Friday nights, unless they don't have a event going on but Fridays in the Wedding and Party business you better be busy!

The majority of the concrete was poured early Thursday morning and can be walked on as we speak. The area that will be available for handicapped and VIP parking (my guess only) won't be ready until next week. BTW the Graveyard (that is the grass strip between the school's parking lot and the CovCath HWy :-) will from what I understand be made available for parking for games. Not sure about tonight's scrimmage game but for the season opener from what I understand will be ready.

And you are correct about all the schools doing a good job but Boone tends to get put down a tad too much, in my opinion in the Community, for being the inner city school.

It wasn't in the question but Soccer in 25/50 years will be king in the USA especially if it goes to open soccer like the rest of the World. Football will be banned or the game will be changed so much you won't recognize it from how it is played today. I love baseball but so many kids and young adult think it takes just too much of their time to watch. Soccer is great to watch on TV, players are always moving with no time out and you know what time the game will start and what time it will end, as the clock never stops running. Yep as us old guy's die off and the youth of today get my age, soccer will be king!

Listed by CovCath as 170 but yes with all the summer games and workout he has been doing, 165 wouldn't surprise me one bit but my guess is with a college dietitian menu, they can beef him up and with the summer AAU over my guess he will put on some extra pounds or two in the next month or so. BTW don't confuse skinny with not being strong, the kid is in great shape and is indeed strong.

CVH played for Villa in his 8th grade year while attending grade school and didn't play for CovCath until his Freshman year.

Indeed CJ did! I received a call from him this morning. Proud of CJ and so happy for him and his family. That is now two committed D1 athletics on CovCath Basketball team (AJ Mayer Miami, OH Football, CJ Fredrick Iowa Basketball) and just waiting for the third to make his mind up.

Back in the memory bank: I can remember that first game at Holmes HS and walking onto the field under the lights and thinking I hate that I am not allowed to play but gee it's great that we finally have a team, no more cheering at Basketball games about us not having a Football team and WOW what a crowd and it's so loud and the guys are having a blast in the stands and the girls WOW. It was just last week wasn't it and it couldn't be 50 years ago could it?

Jake Walter has just received an offer from Xavier and has had more than a few calls from some Big Ten schools this week. That's now two CovCath basketball players getting offers from Xavier!
