Going to be a good game. Ryle's defense held up reasonably well against the Trinity offense, just didn't get much help from the offense. CovCath defense nowhere close to the level of the Trinity defense, so the Raiders will move the ball and eat up clock against the Colonels.

Ryle wins because they scrimmaged Trinity (that's what supposed to happen when you play people that are better than you, right?).

CovCath by 7. The X factor is coach Eviston and kids that have been in his offense for 3 years now. Ryle is going to take a step back after last year. Too many kids lost to graduation to beat a CovCath team that returns too many weapons.

Why disparage Ryle for scrimmaging Trinity? Its reasonable to believe they will improve by stretching themselves. Whether they beat Cov Cath is up to the two teams on the field that night. Hopefully, if you are a Ryle fan, their players will grow into their positions from being exposed to a solid team all across the board.

I'm sure Cov Cath has done several things this off season to improve as well.

I'm not disparaging Ryle at all. I'm just pointing out the fallacy that "stepping up" to scrimmage someone like Trinity doesn't necessarily make you better. If anything, it's left Ryle with more questions than answers. That being said, I think they will beat Cov Cath. But I don't think that the butt kicking they took at the hands of Trinity tonight will have anything to do with it.

It's going to be a good one, close through out, I'm going Ryle by 7-10.

The Raiders visit the Colonels on Friday. This is the first night home game at Wooten Field in Covington Catholic history. Catholic lost in the 5A quarterfinals 35-28 to Fern Creek to finish 9-4 in 2016. QB A. J. Mayer will lead the Colonels potent offensive attack.

First night game under permanent lights.

CovCath will get out front and Ryle won't be to keep up.

Who will win the Ryle vs CovCath game on Friday Aug. 18th with the kick off coming at 7:30 pm I don't know. What I do know, is that if you can't attend the game (and I can't believe you aren't going to be there as the #1 vs. #2 in NKy with the opening of the new Stadium) you can listen in to the two best High School Football Announcers in the Commonwealth in Mark Wehry and Kevin Conner

Based on what I saw last year's JV team do, the Colonels have a little more fire power on offense. Ryle will be a challenge and the excitement surrounding the stadium will put CovCath on another level. Colonels 21-7.
