With the numbers you've posted, the question would appear to be regarding the survival of the program vs. turning it around. What is the prospect for an increase in numbers and the how is the support amongst the Mustang faithful for continuing the program? The apparent move back to single A should help but how do they get more kids in the program?

I stopped by the NCC game today to watch Montgomery County because we may play them later in tournament play and entry was only $5. A parent told me that the entry fee was increased to $6 just for the CovCath fans.

Are you paying to see a soccer game or go to the concession stand? I believe most schools charge $6 for a HS basketball/football games. Are you saying soccer is a level below basketball or football?

I like Beechwood and NCC being in different classes. It gives NKY an additional chance of someone going deep into the playoffs. Additional wish would be for Brossart to move back to 1A for the survival of the program.

Playing the ball with anything below your waist had been illegal in HS volleyball until just recently, perhaps the last 2 years. It had been legal in club and college volleyball for as long as I can remember but have rarely seen it used. Most instances would be to dig an attack that could only be reached with the players foot.

And Ashland is nowhere close to the team that Caldwell County was last year. To play 25 kids in a game where you have a 3 touchdown lead is no indication of the team's depth. Tried using the receivers early but the balls were going right through their hands.

I agree that the depth issue would be way too much for NCC to overcome. I also disagree and think last year's NCC team was much deeper than this year's team. Unless NCC finds someone to catch Mac's passes, they will run into scoring difficulty, even with Smith in the backfield. Competitive till half and then Highlands scores easily in second half while NCC struggles to play from behind. 28 point game.

I guess we'll see a little more about the Camels tonight. CovCath is young and off to a 1-2 start but will be the strongest team Campbell has faced thus far. CovCath is not likely as strong as they typically are and Campbell appears to be vastly improved over last year. I am interested to see how this turns out.

Playing for a smaller school will also allow athletes to play both offense and defense in most situations. I know that Highlands have very few players that play both while NCC would not typically not have enough numbers to platoon the O & D. Other thoughts: Although NCC has a nice fan base and support system for their football, not much compares to a Friday night in Ft. Thomas for a home football game. I agree that both schools have strong family ties and the decision on which school to attend is made well before football playing considerations come into play for most students. I'm not sure that I would agree that HHS has "more than held their own" recently vs. NCC in other sports. I would need to see some records to be convinced of that. HHS prevailed in baseball tournament this year but that's about all I can remember recently. My perception would be that the results have been pretty lopsided recently in the sports not beginning with "Foot"

Based on the numbers up & comer presents of 330 D1 schools with 15 scholarships, that would lead to about 1,238 available scholarships any given year. JUCO transfers and international players will take some of these leaving about 1,000 / year, give or take. If Kentucky were an average size state, which we are not, that would mean about 20 D1 scholarships per year. What percentage of these 20 scholarships would you expect NKY to represent. With the population base, I might say NKY produces what they would be expected to produce each year. Different demographics might improve that number but I would think 1 or 2 at most per year would represent a fair share. Who from NKY has recently been playing D1 basketball? Ricardo Johnson Elijah Pittman Jake Geisler Current prospects in next 2 years: Hatton Bolden McDonald Schulte Rusthatz - maybe I also think there have been more from the area than people realize. Let's compile a list from the last 5-6 years and see what is there before selling the area short.

Wasn't there a pretty good little point guard about the same time as Penick? King, maybe? I liked his offensive skill set quite a bit.

Is Ronny Dawn more than 10 years ago? If not I'd have him as one of the guards and I'd swap McDonald and Kiernan.
