While this team still has some mountains to climb - There are some strengths to this years squad that as long as they can somehow be lucky enough to avoid some injuries they could have some success. They have a nice tandem at RB with Tieman and Schoulthies. They very have good size up front between Macdonald / Britt / Steffen / South. They have a big, sure handed receiver in Shannon. Combined with some senior leadership and a new enthusiastic coach, a playoff appearance is not out of the question. On defensive side - the big four will be relied on in trenches. Baumann quietly put together a nice year last year and a healthy Shannon at DE, this group should be able to put some pressure on the QB and clog some holes. The BIG questions are team speed / as with any small school - depth / how quickly adjust to new system / speed in secondary / QB - Pelgen needs to return and stay focused. He has all the tools to have a successful year.

Lee will do a good job at BBHS. Solid coach and good people to work with. When the KHSAA re-districts, and if they move back to "A" they will be very competitive.

How's things going in Alexandria?

I just don't see this program lasting too much longer unless they can generate a huge excitement that brings more young men into the fold. The #s keep getting lower and lower.

Even with the low numbers there are competitive games on that schedule. Even though they struggled in 2A district games last yea I think this year, other than the NCC game, they should not be lose that badly.

The one thing they will have to learn......don't use 1 or 2 players to do everything. You probably aren't going to win and you end up getting those kids dinged up which really weakens the team.

Brossart is truly a puzzle. They are very competitive in every sport they participate in - boys or girls. There is no doubt they have the talent in the building. Getting back into 1A with the next redistricting will help.

To be honest I have character issues with the head coach. When he left Ryle it was celebrated by the kids. He on a number of occasions called kids derogative names. Made players call out other players for missing blocks during games, ( public humiliation )etc. He was very demoralizing for Ryle and had allot to do with some kids never returning to the program. IMO he was abusive to the kids. Not saying a coach can't yell or get mad, but he was non constructive and demeaning. If brossart has number problems now, I think he will be the death of the program.

Perhaps the most brutally honest post I have ever seen. From an outsiders view, there do seem to be "issues" at Ryle and it seems to start with limited participation.

Who is right?

That's going to be up to Teegarden. We'll have to wait it out and see. No crystal ball here. Posted my opinion and observation of the past. Other parents know about the issues. Change may be good for the guy. Treat the kids right, and I wish him well.

I agree, it's up to Lee. He is a solid football guy. Maybe he did some things that he was suppose to do on that staff. Maybe he was suppose to be the "bad cop" or butt kicker. He does know football, and they are good people, players and parents, at Brossart to work with. I think he will do a very good job there. But as you said its up to him.

I know he knows football. As far as bad cop, you have to respect the young men your coaching.. You have to know where the line is. I believe in getting all the effort out of kids. Effort plays as big of a role as talent sometimes. Calling them names, B, when they fumble is not coaching. You coach kids up not intentionally tear them down. If I don't curse my kid you don't either. Plenty of great coaches never cursed to or at a player. And lets remember these are children and young men. They are not going to respect or play hard for you when you do that. We should as coaches and role models raise the standard and bar of our behavior.

Like every thing you said. Too many negatives in life as it is.

We all can learn from our, and others mistakes. Wish you guys well this season and many more. football is truly the game of life. Forgive and forget.!
