How about up 5 with about 2 minutes to go...UK comes down calls a time out...out of the time out we get a shot clock violation. Can he not draw up a play or have a go to type of play in that situation? That was horrible and that is all on the coach!

I do not think there is an overall lack of effort. The current offense dribble drive, pick and pop with Willis, and pick and roll with the other bigs is all the team runs. I would like to see some down screens for Murray, Ulis, Willis and Mulder and back screens on the posts for nothing else to get lobs or create mismatches.

I thought the "line up" a player rule is applied on those blindside crack back blocks? Leading with the crown of the helmet and making contact above the shoulders penalty is called all over the field.

Sounds like back pedaling to me. If you use this logic there should never be a penalty unless the players are running directly at each other, which only happens when the offensive player tries to not avoid the defender directly in front of him, but of course then the offensive guy can lead with his helmet all day. Line up your opponent, of course he lined him up, he hit him. From a rules perspective, I thought line up your opponent meant that you had a choice. Not lining up your opponent is, for example, you are falling down or are forced into contact from another player(blocked into).

Just to be clear, I never said lead with your head, but have your head in front of the ball carrier.

You were probably taught head in front also. This teaches players to tackle with the head behind the ball carrier, which is the opposite from almost everyone was taught.

I know there are high school teams that already teach their kids to call for fair catch on these plays.

I will run the ball to the boundary. I like it when we have trips to the field and the defense likes to play man to man on the single wr with the the CB back to the Qb. Favorite play is speed option reading the OLB, works great against teams that love to blitz outside linebacker on the weak side of trips, we just read him.
