  1. Trigg County takes overall team title at Ky. State Powerlifting Meet.:thumb:
  2. Man, you and some of your posts get really "tabloid like". By the way, it is Nichols at Manual, not Nicholson and NO he did not get rid of Weiter after the season. Gary Weiter will do fine at J-Town, he will have them believeing in the Wing-T style and that is hard for most teams to totally "shut down". You can take some things away but seldom take everything away. Hopefully he can get some of the basketball talent roaming the campus there to strap on the pads and showcase their athletic ability on the football field. There would be some pretty good speed and talent there to put in the backfield and split out.
  3. Nothing I posted was directed at anyone in particular, just my observations. I never felt ANYONE alluded to Trinity having "quantity over quality".
  4. Two or three things. First of all, Trinity has a very good power lifting team, PERIOD. The lifters are very well coached and technically sound. The young lifters are very noticeable because they are a little less technical. Trinity does have alot of "Power Lifters" and not just "football players who are powerlifting" because they do so during the winter months to stay involved with their teams. Secondly, with the numbers of lifters in each weight class, it does give them a better chance to gain points in more classes. They gained a huge margin with winning all the weight classes from 125-165 and a second place in the 175 pound class, that is a 57 point jump right there. How many big schools have football players (who are not freshmen) who are 125-155 pounds and strong? This is where those strong power lifters from Trinity really take over a meet. Trinity lifters DID NOT win another weight class above 165 BUT they had several 2nd and 3rd place finishers in most the other weight classes getting between 7 and 12 points for those finishes. Their 125-165 pound class lifters are very strong for their weights at any level lifting between 5.25 times and 5.97 times (Phillips) their body weights! Third, I do not think anyone really wants to see these meets "exclude" anyone, this is for the kids in one way or another. It is not the Trinity players who are at fault with their team "destroying" other teams at these meets. Let them lift, I think our players like to compete against all other teams. For the same token I don't think it is right to "Bash" a school (who puts on this type of event) because it takes alot of work and volunteers. These meets are big fundraisers for those schools and if they decide they want "invite" only certain schools then that is their perrogative. They are losing out on extra dollars at the door and at the concession stands. They are doing what they feel is best for their program. Celebrate the success of your programs! Don't waste time bashing others who do not think exaclty like you.

  7. This is off the thread topic but since you stated the formula above, ..............................................what does Larue County equal?
  8. Results are in from Fern Creek High School following the "Rumble in the Jungle" Power Meet today! Trinity takes team honors followed by Scott Co., North Bullitt, Manual, Ft. Knox and a tie between Bullitt East and Fern Creek for 6th place. 1. Trinity 120 pts. 2. Scott County 67 3. North Bullitt 29 4. Manual 27 5. Ft. Knox 24 6. Bullitt East 19 Fern Creek 19 Best Pound for Pound lifters were Trinity's Tim Phillips (970) in the 125-175 weight class and North Bullitt's Dalton Cissell (1055) in the 185 and higher classes. Some very impressive lifts by Brandon Newman (PRP) with a 615 pound Squat and a 375 pound Bench. Tim Phillips had a 340 lb. Bench and a 400 lb. Squat. Dalton Cissell had a 325 lb. Bench and a 455 lb. Squat. Jim Padgett (Scott Co.) had a 285 pound Clean and Andrew Thompson (Trinty) Squatted 325 pounds while weighing in at only 134.5 pounds! Congratulations to all the lifters, it was a good day!
  9. I do agree that those BIG backs DO help a team's chances to win the big ones. I watched Shelton play at Eatern High School in the first round of the playoffs his junior year (2000, I believe), they lost! It was like watching a man amongst boys except Eastern surprised everyone including me. I was actually suggesting that the trophy be engraved with either an X or T! That was just in response to all the posters saying one or the other, I guess you really can't blame them though!
  10. Did Eric Shelton win the State title while playing in Lexington? From the way it sounds, they might as well cancel the entire 6A season and engrave the trophy!
  11. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, that is the case in alot of counties and unforunately too much across this state. Who do we thank for this. While football is the ultimate team sport and teaches young men many valuable lessons, the importance of quality "football" coaches seems to be downplayed. Now I know that the role of a school teacher is even more important, there should/could be a little more importance placed on these people we entrust to mold our young men into quality individuals. While there are many knowledgeable people in regards to football fundamentals and the lessons football can teach, there are fewer who can actually translate that to the practice field, weightroom and game situations.
  12. That is what I am saying, he DID NOT apply. He may have talked to the Principal and/or the AD. No application or 'OFFICIAL' interview. That is fact!
  13. Sounds like somebody here has ALL the details!!! I guess the we don't worry about having facts anymore before posting barbs that cause rumors to start. Where and when did it start being "illegal" to "explore" your options in a career that pays little and demands so much? Even IF some of these coaches "talked" to administration about openings, where in the world (other than Kentucky High School football) would it be soooo terrible. It is a shame that IF this were a "secretive" interview(?) then who would be so unprofessional as to breach the confidentiality?
  14. ^ Man relax, I can see where he may have been saying the same thing but maybe not as clearly. With so few coaches actually working in those schools, it can boil down to that, left up to the respective schools. There is no mandate that says "No head coach, No winter program".
  15. On another note, where does J-Town go from here (if indeed Carmony is the new coach at Butler). This late decision by Butler leaves another school in a bit of a pinch for taking applicants, interviewing then getting a new coach ready for Spring Football.
  16. One thing is for sure, there will be some good looking young kids there that got a lot of experience as Freshmen. They could have been much improved this season under Lucas but we will never know for sure. Seems it was a hard sell to take the spread, pass happy offense to a team known for successful rushing offenses. That sort of change DOES take some time but evidently Lucas was not afforded enough time. I wonder where his son (QB) will go to school next season and where will Lucas re-emerge. Anybody?
  17. I believe it was DeMarcus Smith, very quick, elusive and strong armed kid. Also had a sophomore RB who should be a big threat this season. Greene maybe?
  18. I agree with this as well. The most important part of this is they are playing for a "TEAM" for those years and play for their school. When you compare this to the problems facing kids playing for their youth league program, you get into kids "bouncing" from league to league sometimes. Make the decision to play for a league or school and stick it out! PERSEVERE and earn the respect you crave! Play for school pride and to make your parents (and yourself) proud, don't look to transfer and go somewhere you will be "showcased". This is how you build programs and tradition, the winning comes if there is a commitment (from the ground up) to a program. The students have to commit to making the grades to stay eligible, commit to practice hard, commit to play with pride, commit to the philosophy for the sake of the program. This is what the CSAA instills in the majority of their kids.
  19. ^ French is not going anywhere is he? I thought he brought a lot of consistency and more respect to Lincoln County football. I do not know alot about Lincoln County prior to French taking over. What kind of record and accomplishments did Phillips have?
  20. Having seen Matt Smith AND Mister Cobble first hand, I can say that they are among the best D-Linemen I have seen play at the high school level in a good while. Brandon Newman played equally as well in the second game we played against PRP this season (not a factor in the first meeting but got moved around in various positions in the second game). Those three would definitley bolster any college line that they play on.
  21. ^What a very "Refreshing" point of view and eloquently stated!:thumb:
  22. Looking at their 2007 Media Guide, they actually have 22 players from KY and 23 players from FL. I know when Roy Kidd was in his hey day, they recruited mostly from Florida and some Ohio, Pennsylvania and Georgia.
  23. Yeah! But even the lights at Iroquois are better. Did you like the games there better? I know alot of the fields in town had their lights upgraded in the past several years. We are still waiting. I know it is not a done deal until we see them next summer when the season starts.
