Trinity takes team honors followed by Scott Co., North Bullitt, Manual, Ft. Knox and a tie between Bullitt East and Fern Creek for 6th place.

Best Pound for Pound lifters were Trinity's Tim Phillips (970) in the 125-175 weight class and North Bullitt's Dalton Cissell (1055) in the 185 and higher classes. Some very impressive lifts by Brandon Newman (PRP) with a 615 pound Squat and a 375 pound Bench. Tim Phillips had a 340 lb. Bench and a 400 lb. Squat. Dalton Cissell had a 325 lb. Bench and a 455 lb. Squat. Jim Padgett (Scott Co.) had a 285 pound Clean and Andrew Thompson (Trinty) Squatted 325 pounds while weighing in at only 134.5 pounds!

I must commend Fern Creek for a outstanding job of running the meet! 16 teams and 400+ athletes participated. Congrats to Trinity for capturing the Championship in a runaway. I was impressed with how all the kids competed. The lifters that impressed me the most were Newman from PRP, Cissel from North Bulliet and Superman Tim Phillips from Trinity. I hope I didn't butcher there names. Phillips is a beast!!! At 162.5 lbs he benched 340 with ease (state record 325lbs) on his second lift. He finished as the Most Outstanding Lifter for the meet under 175lbs. Cissel was the Most Outstanding Lifter over 175lbs. For those who attended, what impressed you the most.

Its a joy to attend these meets and see the hard work all these kids put in! Congrats to all the lifters!!!

I lifted in the heavyweight class along side Brandon Newman and Sam Robey. Brandon placed 1st with a 615 lb. squat and I belive a 375 bench, I'm not real sure. Robey finished in second, and I placed third.

That's why Trinity has only been allowed in two meets this year. Other schools threatened to boycott if Trinity was allowed to compete. That's pitiful. Thanks to Spencer County and Fern Creek for allowing the Rocks in their tourneys.

 

Trinity will compete in a national tourney at the end of March in Oklahoma. St. Xavier is scheduled to compete in this meet as well.

I would not be so sure about that my friend.

The only reason I can not see Trinity being allowed in a meet is because they bring like 80 lifters. It is not hard to win a meet with 80 lifters compared to most teams bringin 15-30. Actually, they bring more lifters than most teams have players during the season.

Not sure, but I believe that T brings their "Power Lifting Team". I was told that these guys lift year round and most are not football players. Most of the schools that compete don't have that luxury. Their power lifting team consists of mainly the football players....so is it fair or unfair to the other schools?
