Good call...We have got to let the kids decide what they want to do...now if we had them under contract, like a pro team, then the situation would be different...Athletics may be the only way that kid has to express who he/she is...We have absolutely no right to take a kid away from a sport they WANT to play!

Rowan won last night, so Spring Ball will be pushed back a bit...It may not be too late if they can get the committee going and find a coach...

With all due respect to Coach Baldridge, definitely a great coach...but I would think they would want a fresh start under a younger coach to lead them back into District. Any word on when the committee is meeting?

How far is Rowan going to go into the post-season this year?

Is it typical for some schools to TELL the new Head Coach who he will hire for his assistants?

In my extremely brief career in coaching, I have already seen how politics can over-ride common sense...I think this may be the case with Sauerbeck, Blume and Senn...I hate the fact that there will always be great players left off of teams like these, but the sad truth is that every year this will happen...All 3 of these guys should know in their hearts that they played GREAT football this past year, and they have nothing to be ashamed of...Stand tall guys! :thumb:

Hats off to Deming...When I was at Bracken, Deming didn't have success against the Polar Bears...Now they are playing tight games and came up with a win...Congratulations to the coaches and players! I enjoy hearing of programs improving and becoming successful...Keep it up!

Several of you have mentioned the fact that all levels of the program need to be on the same page...I couldn't agree with you more...I have seen first hand what can happen to a program if there is a gap somewhere in between...Good Luck completing the list that coacher mentioned, because I know that will help, and I also know that the kids from Betsy Lane WANT to win and will work hard...I hope things get ironed out and success finds you soon! :thumb:

Right now you have good teams not making the playoffs because of their very difficult districts, and then you have teams that are in weaker districts making the playoffs...very undeserving...If the competition is closer, there won't be as many undeserving teams making it because they will be competing against schools they have a chance to beat. Tread lightly when saying something is mathematically impossible...If the re-alignment does happen, we will see just how "POSSIBLE" it will be to have fewer undeserving teams

Strongopenyon...I agree that it is a misconception...My logic for favoring the 6-class system is for the reasons I mentioned earlier. I think the public/private debate is a waste of time. I think that public schools can compete with private schools, and if that is why people are for the new alignment, then I think they need to reconsider. I think the two issues are totally different, and there should be no debate about it...schools need to just play ball...if they want a championship, they need to work hard and go get it...

I think what diminishes the accomplishment of getting to the postseason now is the fact that teams that go 1-9 and 2-8 make the playoffs only to get beat badly by a high seed. With the new breakdown, teams that were 1-9 and 2-8 would be facing teams closer to their level and would have a chance to have a better record and compete for a title as opposed to getting thumped.

I know schools want to make the best decision possible, but it seems that some schools are dragging their feet...I think every coach would agree that those 10 days of Spring Ball will help tremendously to get your team acquainted with your offense and defense...You will be 10 days ahead of those schools that may not hire until after Spring Ball.

How can it be less competitive?? In 2005 there were 217 schools with a football team in KY. with 4 classes, that is 55 per class. Each school had a 1.82% chance of winning it all. In a 6-class system, each school will have a 2.76% chance of winning the title. That means over 97% of the schools in each class won't win the championship, but each school in that class will be matched with schools on a similar level. To me that equals better competition, and more schools will get involved with football...as Tall Trees said, "It is about the kids!"

Congratulations men...this is quite an accomplishment! Even if you aren't a Ft. Campbell or Lex. Cath. fan, you should be proud of what these two superb athletes have done for KY Football. Now, take it to the next level and be leaders at UK and NC State!
