North Oldham JOB

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any information on the North Oldham job? I know the interviews are over, but why hasnt the committee named the new head coach?

Apparently someone is asleep at the wheel in Oldham County

Looks to be Billy Martin from Henry Co.

If that is the case, and he hasnt resigned, hasnt been named, etc... doesnt that put henry Co in a horrible spot?

I can state some facts relevant to Henry County and you may read between the lines.

At the Nike Coach of the Year clinic. There was a posting for on the job board for an "ANTICIPATED" Head Football Coaching Opening at Henry County High School. The assistant AD was in attendence to talk to those interested.

How that links to North Oldham ? ? ? ?

Wonder how many people seen that and contacted the assistant AD from Henry County?

I know a couple of guys that talked to them about the job. Just looks like this could get ugly for henry County if he leaves is 2 weeks to go to North, and they have to hire someone who will not get spring practice to get started. It will put them ata great disadvantage.

What is anticipated? Is that like sort of? Maybe, could be?

I believe coach martin did not have spring ball his 1st year at HC either.

They have "sort of" done alright. I heard nothing can be done until site base meets in Oldham Co. I heard several people thought it was "tacky" to post an anticipated opening. I bet that did not get them lined up to ask about a job there in Henry County, but hey what do I know. I "anticipate" it will all work out.

Whether or not it was "tacky" to post an "anticipated" job is simply a matter of opinion, also one would certainly think that it would not have been done if there wasn't some sort of finality at this point. Even, if things haven't been made "official".

I think you have to look at a similar situation to Petrino and Jurich (Giving A LOT of credit here, huh!!) Jurich has made it clear that if Petrino were to go, he would be in immediate coaching search mode and not look back. He has to, that is his job.

Henry County is being forced to play the waiting game, and obviously they have decided to control there own destiny and find them a good coach and do it in a hurry. Keep in mind that many school systems are questioned on this very board for not going out and finding a good coach to fill an opening, implying that football is not important to them. The bottom line that I see is, Henry County sees the value of the off-season program and spring football for their kids (A good thing!). During a coaching search, which is typically no less than 30 days, both of those things have a tendency to cease. Therefore, a proactive approach seems to be the right thing to do for the kids, school, and community in allowing them to move on.

I just checked the KDE website, for the past 60 days, and there have been no postings for Henry County.

Guess the AD was just trying to find somebodies interested in the job for a quick hire and review if this cat leave there now.

When does the SBDM at North Oldham meet?

Henry Co. has a VERY bright future in football.

Unfortunate what's happened there lately...but there are some quirky things going on that's caused it.

Def. Coordinator is staying on there (probably would be one of the state's top HEAD coaches were he a teacher).

Practice and game facilities are already good...but NICE, indoor athletic facility improvements on the way (money is in the bank, plans are already drawn up), "urban growth" moving out from Louisville and Oldham Co. is heading that way, and there's a VERY supportive administration (AD, Principal, and Superintendent) that REALLY WANTS football to compete at the top level and is willing to do what is necessary to support it.

Plenty of support, sounds like a good situation. why leave that for North?

Coach J wouldn't it be up to the new coach if the D-Coordinator would be staying on? or is he in on the hiring commitee?

True...you're right...I probably spoke too early and assumed too much.

All my "assertions" were just that...nothing based on any "definite" info. He may or may not be in on the hiring...I don't know that much about things there (remember, I just talked about how good the FUTURE of the program looks...I don't know anything really on anything related to the 'hiring of a new coach' process -- heck, it's not even officially OPEN yet!)

But since there was such a big turnaround after he was hired on there as DC (2004 season) I ASSUME (and yes, I know what that makes me ) both the school and the new head coach would want to keep him around.

Especially since he's a parapro that works 5 minutes from the school, has a flexible schedule, has 8 years Coordinating experience with MAJOR success (4 different years has had defenses at AA, AAA, and AAAA schools that have been ranked in the top 10 in the state in rushing defense at the end of the year), and there wouldn't need to be a "certified teacher" hired to fill a spot (a MAJOR concern for any new head coach).

...you'll have to inquire with the AD there about the hiring process WHEN the job "officially" comes open.

Is it typical for some schools to TELL the new Head Coach who he will hire for his assistants?
