True, but some of that also goes back to coaching.

When they aren't good enough to play varsity, and the coaches fell sorry for them so they will jeapordize the development of younger players just so the player can get some PT. It happens all the time and it happened to my sophmore year and I wasn't happy about it...

With the expectations that were on this team anything short of a district championship would have been a disappointment. That being said, it is ridiculous that this team didn't even make the playoffs. They had sooooooo much talent, but like nkysportslegend said they lacked heart and there were some questionable play calling at points in the season. I feel for all those seniors, but they will take out everything on Scott.

I can't believe that Scott wont play SK next year, that is a joke. The score next week could be in the sixties for SK, they will show absolutely no mercy. Also look for Haught to have a HUGE game.

Well the fact is that Beechwood is a typical Beechwood team and will not be easy to be beaten, but like I said there can be no assumption of a winner in this game. But besides all that stuff, I pick HC by 3:thumb:

You are so blindly affiliated with Holy Cross that you cannot see both sides of the game, nor can you accept the fact that Holy Cross can ever lose. Yes Holy Cross has a decent squad this year, but Beechwood is Beechwood. This game could go either way, and there is no clear cut winner here. SK's running attack didn't fool anyone, and look what happened there. The "fooling" of a high school team doesn't matter because high schoolers don't over analyze anything. All that matters is that the plays produce positive yards.

I just read another article on the book, and it had several interesting andectotes about the story. --The week of the explosions, October 9, 1980, was Fire Prevention Week. --The 1980 yearbook, the year before the explosions, had the word 'Exploding' across the cover. --The ballboy for the team, Doug Pelfrey, became the placekicker for the Cincinnati Bengals. Interesting..... Also if Eric Deters doesn't get the script picked up by major film companies he will make an independent film. I like his chances of it getting picked up though especially since people like former UK basketball coach Joe B. Hall are saying things like "I will enjoy the movie. It has to be made." Sk has nothing to play for and I think they will try out some people at interesting positions which will make for a closer game than some will think. SK will not allow themselves to lose this game however and I pick them by a touchdown or two.

If they did make the movie I wonder if they would use current of former students/faculty in the movie. I wouldn't mind being an extra....
