  6. Sorry sports fan, the Tigers already have an assistant AD, and he is winner.

  8. It has been a while, Bert (BGP party at Executive West in 2004). Good to see you posting more. :thumb: Alan was quizzed by a lot of people at last Friday's Fern Creek game about different coaching rumors. You can tell that he has been a long-time AD, because no matter what names were brought up, his facial expressions did not give away anything. Well I guess I better take that back. When someone jokingly mentioned that he had seen Bobby Petrino on campus riding his motorcycle, his eyebrows elevated and he uttered "no way". The only meaningful information obtained was that he noted that he had not been sitting on his hands for the past few months. My best guess is Stephan LeFors.
  9. The two schools operate with different mission statements, under completely separate boards, and have a number of philosophical differences. That is not to say that one way is better than another, but they just march to different drummers in a number of areas.
  10. In regards to compensation packages for a new head football coach, it is my firm opinion that St. X. will never allow any salary or salary plus outside fringe benefits packages which exceed normal teacher and administrative compensation packages. Tigertown wants to win ballgames as much anyone else, but they will never do anything to make it appear that athletic activities are held above academics. It is just not in the cards!
  11. I firmly agree with Rock Pride on this point. Although Will Wolford meets all the major criteria that St. X. is looking for in a new head coach, considering his current personal lifestyle, family with young daughters, and business interests, it just makes no sense for him to take a job as a high school coach.
  12. The 2011 Tiger team was admittedly one of the weaker ones in many years. However, weak is a relative term when applied to St. X. The 2011 team beat a nationally ranked Cincinnati St. X. team right before the the playoffs, so based on this victory, I feel they could have handled Scott County. However, since we had to play Trinity in the third round, we'll never know.
  13. Would that be the same ring that you won when last you played X in the State Finals in 2004? All I remember is St. X. 49 - Scott County 9. I don't think you want any part of the Tigers either. :irked:
  14. You may not be puffing out your chest over your interpretation of the scrimmage, but you sure are one proud father of a sophomore QB who is just beginning his varsity journey. Good luck to both you and your son. I have followed Bolin at Lexington Catholic since his freshman year, so it will be interesting to compare Graham's maturity curve with his as time goes on. :thumb:
  15. I'm afraid we have a vastly different opinion on the Butler/Tates Creek scrimmage. In the first half where the first units were competing, Tates Creek scored first on a long run and was then held scoreless for the rest of the first half. Butler's first unit then proceeded to score three straight TD's on Commodores, and led 21-7 at halftime. Having lost their two leading rushers from last season, the Bears game plan was to work hard on developing the new running game with junior RB Joe Brown. This was very successful since Joe rushed for over 150 yards in the first half. Butler QB Josh Morgan only threw about three total passes after throwing for about 1700 yds last year. The Bears leading returning receiver and best DB, Tayvaughn Morton, didn't even play in this scrimmage due to a slight ankle sprain. For the second half, Coach Carmony kept most of his starters out, playing his younger players to develop some experience. It was in this second half with the Bears' subs playing that Tates Creek outscored Butler 28-7. What this told me was that in a real varsity game, Butler would have easily won, but that on the younger JV-type level, Tates Creek was the superior team. This is just one illustration as to why it is vitally important to consider much more than just a final scrimmage score (must consider who was playing and what the coaches were trying to accomplish) when trying to judge who would emerge victorious in a REAL GAME. Personally, GOINGFOR2, I am elated that you have started posting on BGP. For far too long we have not had someone representing the Lexington area on the board. I look forward to some interesting debates. I'm afraid that until the schools from Lexington start winning real games against Louisville and Northern Kentucky teams, they will continue to be rated lower in the polls.
  16. Anyone who saw your team in the scrimmage against St. X. would not only leave your team out of the Top 10, but would not even include them in the Top 20 of 6A. The guru was right in noting how weak 6A is this season outside of a few of the top teams.
  17. Thanks for upholding my pre-game judgement, Madison Central! :ylsuper:
  18. South Oldham scored on the last play of the ball game to win this over Bullitt Central. Sure messed up my pick!
  19. Madison Central got on a district-winning run at the end of the season last year with a young team that now returns with a lot of experience. Boone County, on the other had, lost a lot to graduation and must rebuild this season with young talent. In addition, as gold sunrise noted, the game is being played at EKU which should benefit Madison Central. I think that both of these teams lie just outside the Top 10 (11-15), and that it will be a close game; but Madison Central has the early season advantage and should win.
  20. I just used my normal procedure: 1. Meditate for two hours 2. Pray two rosaries 3. Toss a coin 4. Pray two more rosaries 5. Toss the coin again to assure that the same result repeats 6. If the coin toss does not repeat, toss it again and go with the two out of three. 7. Submit the results to BGP and pray some more. :sssh:
