Beechwood 63 Owen County 0
Beechwood will be in a 5 team district starting next year, instead of 6.

While that may be true. All those schools in those districts that you say are good, they would then still be perfectly fine to still scheduled each other then. With the state already moving to RPI in second round starting next year. The whole reason for district play almost is already gone anyways. As where you finish is the district only matters in the first round then. So district standings is almost mute anyways. So might as well take the next step and make RPI for all playoffs, and get rid of districts. Then those districts that are competitive can still schedule each other if they choose to.

This is just another reason why districts need to go away. With the state already moving to using RPI in round 2 next year, they might as well just make it RPI for the whole playoffs, and get rid of districts. As no one benefits in games like this. Beechwood and most of their district opponents get really nothing out of these games.

A new study found that one in four professional football players who died between 2016 and 2021 had CTE
I would love to see just as much research done on soccer and other sports to see what that data looks like. It seems like the majority of CTE studies focus on football, but it's very possible that soccer players who have played the sport for most of their lives could also develop CTE. I think basketball and other sports would be worth studying more closely as well. There is still so much we don't know about CTE. It may turn out that it shows up in athletes across a variety of sports, especially after years of participation and repeated impacts. That's really my main point: there just hasn't been nearly as much research done on these other sports. What if, after studying athletes from soccer, basketball, and other sports over many years, we find similar issues? That could drastically change the conversation. Instead of looking at CTE as primarily a football issue, we may realize it is a broader issue involving long-term participation in multiple sports. I'm not saying that football doesn't have risks. I just think we need more research across all sports before we fully understand the bigger picture, and may not just be a football thing.

St. Henry impact on Covington Catholic
No doubt it's a great addition for the program.

St. Henry impact on Covington Catholic
I believe he is saying the post you quoted on the new facility having zero impact on Covcath was sarcasm. Since some people have said St. Henry having a football program will have zero impact now or in the future on Covcath. Which I know for me I think they are completely wrong, if they truly think it will have zero impact.

I agree this probably will be a very good reality check time for a team. However, I don't think it will be for the team you are thinking.

KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett to retire
The whole no football in June, while all other sports can continue to do things as normal is a joke. Quite honestly Tackett messed up coming out last year saying how teams can't even use helmets in June, as teams in KY had accepted overall that they couldn't do 7 on 7s against other teams in June, even though all border states do. Now that Tackett has enforced the no even helmets in June, he is setting the new commissioner up to get all kinds of push back on things, because it is ridiculous how football really can't do anything in June now. I have no issue with the 6 classes. I do think they should have continued to look at how to improve things though once they went to 6 classes. Especially once they started using a rating system like the RPI. Which with it being 6 classes, and now them using the rpi starting in round 2 of the playoffs next year. There really is no reason not to just use the rpi for the whole playoffs now, and get rid of districts completely. As there are some matchups of teams being forced to play because of being in the same district that really have no benefit to either team. Keep 6 classes, use rpi or some kind of rating system for the whole playoffs, and get rid of districts.

Bengals 20 Texans 6
Agree to disagree. I do know one thing we can agree on, and that is no way the Steelers are picking 32nd.

Bengals 20 Texans 6
I agree on not over paying Murphy, but I did think they should have did the 5th year option on him, as that wouldn't have been that expensive, and much cheaper than the going rate for DL these days. However, with all the guys they need to extend, I see why they didn't now. I really like Chase Brown, but if they can only pay 2 of the 3. Then I would focus on Turner and Mims. I honestly would prioritize Dax Hill over Chase Brown too, only because it is still easier to find RB's then it is to find DB's.

When the Bengals draft 32nd this year in the 1st round after the Super Bowl. They should be in a good spot to get a top guard, and or still a good tackle. I also want to add, I see why now the Bengals probably decided not to do the 5th year option on Murphy. As its not that Murphy is bad, but more so the Bengals are going to have to break the bank to pay Mims. As Mims is going to be paid like one of the top tackles in the league probably starting next year. As he should be our Willie Anderson on the right side of the line for the next 10 years or more. He has been dominant two weeks in a row, while going against very good pass rushers.

Walton-Verona 27 Bracken County 10
Bracken County travels to Walton-Verona this week for each teams first district game of the season. Bracken County has won this game the last 3 years, however Walton-Verona is coming into this on a roll after winning their last 3 games this season including two shutout victories. Will Bracken County continue their winning steak over Walton, or will Walton-Verona stay hot and make it 4 straight wins this season.

Cooper 22 Conner 21
Up until the last 3 years this game has always been a through the records out type of game, and was always a tough battle. I think there could be potential of it getting back to that again. Cooper obviously has had the better season so far, and Conner is very young. Cooper's defense has been very good this year, so I do think Conner may have a hard time scoring points. With that said Cooper's offense hasn't exactly been great this year themselves. Which Conner's Defensive Coordinator is a former long time Cooper Assistant coach and was the DC for 2 of Cooper's 3 state title appearances. So I am sure he will have some extra motivation going into this one. If Conner's defense can make Cooper's offense continue to struggle to score points and force a few turnovers, this game could be interesting. As I believe for Conner to win, this game would need to be a 10 to 7 type of game. If Cooper's offense does put up some points, then I can see Cooper winning by a few scores like a 28 to 7 type of score.

Mims will basically shutdown Watt for the most part. Highsmith could be an issue, but still isn't as good as the DEs they saw this week. Bengals should win by 10 or more.

Let's go! Play with a lead and let our new and improved defensive line pin their ears back and get after the QB! I love it! Who Dey!!!

Brown has been very bad, no argument there. However, once again who do you replace him with? You're not going to find someone better than him right now. If you replaced him, you will be having to make sure you have someone helping and chipping to help whoever you replaced him with. So I don't think the answer is finding someone else. The answer is simply Taylor and the offensive staff have to realize he is not good enough anymore to be left on an island like they like to do with their tackles. Especially when facing elite pass rushers. They need to do more chipping and helping, rather than replacing him.

Kentucky 31 Texas A&M 21
Hopefully this is a sign to come that both UK and UL can both be good at football at the same time and really make the rivalry even more fun.

Well the hype machine around UK and Stein showed today that maybe there was good reason to be excited after all.

St. Henry impact on Covington Catholic
I think if people truly think St. Henry having a football program won't have any impact on CovCath is lying to themselves, and just having wishful thinking. Even if it is maybe just 2 or 3 kids in a grade level every year that probably would have been at CovCath, if it wasn't for St. Henry that still makes a difference over time. As that could potentially by 9 players on a varsity roster that could have helped over the next few years. Same with freshman teams currently. While this CovCath freshman team as people have said, kind of came in not being the best anyways. If St. Henry didn't have a football program, maybe they would have had 2 or 3 kids from that St. Henry team then playing freshman at Covcath. 2 or 3 kids at a freshman level depending on their talent, could make a huge difference on a freshman team success too. So while it may or may not have a huge drastic impact, it is still going to have an impact.

Can Dayton Run the Table and Finish 10-0?
Fair enough, and I agree they have to clean up the penalties. With that said all the years Dayton has played Newport and NCC over the last 20 to 30 years, those teams were the ones with more talent than Dayton. I am not so sure that is the case this season. Plus Dayton definitely will have the most talented player on the field in those games this year. So I do think it will be interesting.

Can Dayton Run the Table and Finish 10-0?
Out of curiosity, have you seen Dayton play this year? Or just going based off the past, considering your its still Dayton comment at the end?

Bengals 33 Buccaneers 27
Since about the middle of the year last year, the Bengals offensive line has quietly become a very good pass blocking team. With that said they will face their toughest test of the season this week, as Houston probably as the best defensive front in the NFL in regards to putting pressure on the QB.
