With all due respect to Coach Larkey and Harlan County, Hazard isn't avoiding anybody. I believe the discussions concerned week 1. Hazard got a better deal to play Green County at Lexington Catholic. Hazard still has two open dates and one game to fill. I'm sure Coach Dixon would like the opportunity to fill the schedule.

Spoke with Coach Holland today. Hazard will play Powell County tonight and Lee County tomorrow night. Good Luck Bulldogs!!

Lynn Camp is in District 1-6 not District 1-7. Pineville could be the pick for the Upset in District 1-7.

I think you make some good observations DaddyCat. One correction, however. Hazard played at Somerset for the Reg. Championship in 2006.

Let me clear something up. It was not a coach that got on the mic, it was a fan. And I agree not a smart thing to do. There were a lot of things that were out of hand on both sides tonight.

Speed

Good High School Football game! I think most BGP observers thought this would be a close game and the teams did not disappoint. Lewis was a little off tonight,but he is absolutely for real. Clay, in my opinion,has lots of offensive weapons. A little more run game would help them. IMO the tigers were a little too predictable tonight. Folks, Hazard is for real. This game was closer than it should have been. Olinger may be the best overall (pass/run) QB in the mountains. Lots of speed all over the field. Several good playmakers.(Kidd, Adams, Campbell, Meehan, Blanton, Mikal Campbell, Searcy, Sims, Combs, and more). Look for Hazard and Clay to both make good runs come playoff time if they can improve defensively. You will not make it far playoff time giving up 20-30 pts. a game. Good luck to both teams.

First of all, kids do not "belong" to any school district/system. Kids belong to the parents who birthed them. Believe it or not, in most circumstances, parents do know what situation is best for their children. One of these days the fine Commonwealth of Kentucky will stop playing politics with school funding and fund school children's education instead of funding dysfunctional school systems. JMO

Hazard is not a private school. They are a public Independent School system.

Don't feel sorry for Big Al. He knows exactly what he is getting himself into. He has lived around Hazard his whole life. Should be no surprises here. Evidently, he feels it is a much better situation than the one he is leaving.

Anyone who thinks 6'3" Campbell and 6'5" Jones not playing for the Bulldogs didn't make a difference in the Holmes game cannot be taken seriously. That being said, you have to play with what you got and Holmes was the better team Saturday.

Hicks had 28 against Holmes I believe. I agree that it is way to early to be counting anyone out in the 14th Region. Come tournament time, no one will want to play Coach Holland and PCC. It cracks me up that most of these teams have played 6 or 7 games and some people are already boasting who is what! There is a lot of basketball yet to be played!!

The injured Hazard player sustained a "stinger". My understanding is he was released to practice Monday. Thanks for being concerned.

Not True. Somerset & Hazard played in the mid-80's when both were in 2A.

Hazard and Paintsville will play for the #2 seed next week. Winner has home field in playoffs, if I understand playoff format correctly. Pikeville is solid pick for #1 seed in District playoffs. District 7 will have a lot to say about who wins region imo.

Yes, that's correct. Freshman scores on 49 yd. pass rec in 1st quarter. Has 95 yd. interception return for td in 4th quarter. NOT BAD FOR A FRESHMAN!!

Both teams had bright spots and concerns. Belfry looked very good at times but I believe they put the ball on the ground 5 times the first two series(10/10). Hazard's young QB looked nervous in the early going but as the scrimage progressed looked better and better. My opinion. Coach Haywood and the Pirates will be just fine. Looked like the same ole Belfry to me. You better get them early. Come playoff time lookout. Hazard is very young and will get better as the year goes forward barring injury. The JV are very talented and the future looks bright for Coach Dixon and the Bulldogs.
