  1. Maybe this way it will be less than 12 hours long... My problem with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was that it was a series of books on film, not movies. I know I'll catch some criticism for that comment, but that is the way I feel. If one wanted to read the books, one should read the books and not watch the movies. I think shorter movies (particularly the final movie) would have made it more enjoyable. My vote is for Peter Jackson never to make another movie unless he has Hollywood's most deletion happy editor right behind him. If you want all the details and a workout for the imagination, just read the books.
  2. Aw, shucks. The daily independent didn't give coverage to an embarrassing Ashland loss, and top billing to a Russell debacle. Who would have thunk it?
  3. So I guess this is what we resort to when the writers go on strike...(myself unfortunately included)
  4. While everybody else is finishing, I'm just about to start... fantastic.
  5. Looking forward to going to the game on Friday. It'll be my first game of the season, though I have been keeping up fairly regularly. Hope to see a packed house - it sounds like the sterling new radio crew has caused some people to stay at home and listen to the games there... This should be a goody. I don't remember the last time I saw Russell as the underdog at home (perhaps the last time Belfry came to town?), so I suppose that says a lot about Breathitt.
  6. Actually, sounds like Galloping Ghost is a little ahead of me, so if you want to continue with the updates, you go right ahead...
  7. Russell fails to convert the two point conversion. Remains 26-21
  8. I must admit, that's an original prediction. I suppose they'll go into OT 25-25, Russell scores the first TD and then Mason settles for a 4 point loss after a field goal. Is that right?
  9. Somewhere Tyrone Willingham and Tubby Smith are having a nice chat over the phone...
  10. That is a tradition that has existed in European language from before Latin was a spoken language (ca 2nd Century BC, I believe). Because prepositions required a word that was in a different noun form than the rest of the sentence, sentences would, in effect, look incomplete without a object of prep. When English dropped the different noun forms, it became a positional language and thus any object of prep would have to follow the preposition almost directly. Thus, it is improper to put the preposition anywhere else in the sentence. Or, it's just what your 3rd grade teacher said, so that makes it improper.
  11. I've only seen him play twice. Only for the last 2 minutes of the 120 minutes that I've seen him play has he been impressive.
  12. I still don't see BC as a legitimate #2, no matter how this game ends.
  13. I don't know that you can say he flopped for a couple of reasons. First, as noted by others in this thread, he is currently behind McNair, and so his actual playing cannot yet be judged. Second, he was always targeted as a college player who probably wouldn't do much in the NFL due to his stature. If you will recall, there was a great deal of apprehension for some people in the Heisman voting because they weren't sure if he was pro-material. Thus, I wouldn't consider him a flop or bust, but I suppose if he does not go on to have a great NFL career, he just won't translate well from college to pros as was forecasted by many.
  14. I have a feeling that Ryan's Heisman hype will draw to a close this Thursday against the Hokies. BC's best win was probably against Wake Forest, whose eek out wins came against Duke and Florida State and whose other loss came from the MIGHTY (4-4) CORNHUSKERS. For some reason, that just doesn't impress me.
  15. Nice! Truthfully, though, Henry 521 and Watusi hit the nail on the head. This is her getting at the problem before the tabloids do.
  16. I sure am. You can take it from here then if you'd like.
  17. Ashland now with a 3 and 4 at the Russell 27 yard line. Thomas back under center; Russell with a sack for a loss. 4th and 7
  18. Ashland now at the Russell 33. Hart mixing it up with Thomas in the backfield.
  19. Ashland with 2 passes for 22 yards on offense.
  20. Ashland recieves the kick and returns the ball to the Tomcat 42.
  21. Russell 7 Blazer 0 Drew Abrams with the score. Jason Dolly with the extra point. 10:00 minutes remaining in the first quarter. Tyler Jones ran about 60 of the required 70 yards on the four play drive.
