  1. There you are OR! I was wondering about you. The Friday night update thread just wasn't the same without you!
  2. I like the idea of a romantic engagement with the man picking out the engagement ring, perhaps after shopping together to get her input. The wedding bands should be picked out together.
  3. I know of one girl who transferred a few years ago from Raceland to GCHS to cheer. She has since graduated.
  4. I agree with Ram. The smaller, independent schools in this area traditionally are the ones that have strong programs.
  5. thanks for the updates, OldRambler. Where are Big Fig and Cvillecat tonight?
  6. oh, I am so sorry to hear this. Thoughts and prayers to RK and her family.
  7. Thoughts and prayers from Raceland.
  8. That is absolutely awesome RK! I am so happy for you!
  9. MsKitty, I am just now reading this post. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Please keep us posted.
  10. This was probably one of the best high school games I've seen. Congrats to the Ramblers.
  11. My mother was a true football mom back in the day. She had two boys on the field, one son in a stroller and me cheering on the sideline. (I'd rather been playing football!) I can remember her soaking the boys' pants in the bathtub, trying to get out the grass stain in time for the next game. She would always say, "When is Raceland going to get orange and black pants instead of these white ones?" LOL but she loved every minute of it. She set a very good example for me.
  12. Congrats Raceland! Thanks for the play by play, OR and Big Fig. You guys did a great job!
  13. Those are great pics. Thanks for sharing them. How did you go about planning the trip?
  14. My son and I really enjoyed the movie. I heard the book was better and bought it, but haven't had time to read it yet. I did, however, see a documentary on the whole 'card counting' scandel. It seems that there were more college groups doing this around that time, but only one was chosen for the movie.
  15. My boss says he uses this recipe also, but adds a dash of ginger to the mix. (when I said recipe, I flashed back to The Waltons.)
  16. I visited family in the Walton area this past weekend. I really like that whole Newport/Campbell County area. I have a cousin that taught in the Campbell County system and is retired now. Congrats GT!
  17. Thoughts and prayers from Raceland. I lost my parents only 22 months apart. Only my faith has carried me through.
  18. Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing. I have been looking for a great trip for my family to Mexico. Can anyone suggest a travel website that is reliable?
  19. Wonderful story, Judge. Keep up the good work...
  20. tough situation. Thoughts and prayers for your family.
  21. I received the following in an email earlier today... I was shocked, confused, bewildered As I entered Heaven's door Not by the beauty of it all, Nor the lights or its decor. But it was the folks in Heaven Who made me sputter and gasp-- The thieves, the liars, the sinners , The alcoholics and the trash. There stood the kid from seventh grade Who swiped my lunch money twice. Next to him was my old neighbor Who never said anything nice. Herb, who I always thought Was rotting away in hell, Was sitting pretty on cloud nine, Looking incredibly well. I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal? I would love to hear Your take. How'd all these sinners get up here? God must've made a mistake. 'And why's everyone so quiet, So somber - give me a clue.' 'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock. No one thought they'd be seeing you.' JUDGE NOT... Remember...Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car. Food for thought...
  22. My goodness! You guys were up late last night. I don't know about togas, but I certainly have a good contact for t-shirts! (tubby's best friend).
  23. I have the no line bifocals also. It wasn't too difficult for me to adjust to, but the monovision (bifocals) contact lenses were hard. One contact is for nearsightedness and one is for far-sightedness. The dr. said your brain just knows which eye to look out of depending on what distance is required. Odd, but it works.
