To be honest with all the coaching changes over the years at Catholic. They should of looked at Mendenhal. They would of been alot better than what they have now.

Its starting to look like Hicks was standing up for what was right. I think the administration pushed the wrong person and he has pushed back. Alot of times people just live with the results good or bad. This one may have backfired against the school system. I have known Jim long enough to tell you this. If he is wrong he will admit it and swallow his pride. If he is right he will let you know it. This is something he truly believes was wronged against him and his program.

After watching high school basketball in Florida this year and with all the talent I have seen in its a shame to see the coaching is a complete joke. Not all the schools but some of the teams that are loaded with so much talent and they don't know how to use thier players.

Do you believe Walt Allen was best senior player in the state last year. If he had not made it to regional last year he would of not won it period. Getting to state with a subpar performance solidified it. Matt Walls deserves the award bases on last years Mr. Basketball. Nothing against Walt and I am glad he won it. Face the facts. Walls showed everyone all season against great competition his quality of play.

I have watched this kid play since he was very young. He has played for what I call some not-so idealistic coaches in his middle school AAU program which I feel has put him at a disadvantage at this point. Shows some good aspects of the game but listens to too many people telling him he is the best in Louisville. He has made great strides since he has been at Manual. This is an important summer for him. Hopefully he gets some good coaching this summer and stays away from all the neysayers.

No Doubt, If Pettigrew doesn't score at least 30 every night E-town only wins seven games this year. Walls is as deserving as any player I have ever seen and it would also be hard to leave out Pettigrew for the award.

I do not think they are the best ever but they are very talented at all spots. I am trying to compare them to other good team that played the type of schedule they did. Of Scott co teams I think the team Ballard beat in 99 had more talent.

I think it is good to bring it up. It shows kids that you must crawl before you can walk and these kids learned the hard way. I feel they know what it takes to get to the top with hard work. They can let other kids know what it takes and where their priorities lie. I have watched these kids play ball for many years on local AAU teams. It has been a pleasure to watch them mature and become leaders on and off the court.

Who will be tough in the 9th next year?

When your in the 11th you think about winning the region before trying to win state. For Scott Co its lets get out of district. They took one game at a time and overlooked no one. They do lose Walls and that is hit on anyones team. Warren I feel can be replaced. They will tough and most likely the favorite again next year. Billy Hicks can tell you winning the Sweet 16 was far from his mind before the first game of the district. If Lexington Catholic finds a point gaurd as well Henry Clay as another poster comented on. They both will be tough for anyone to handle. Catholic still lacks the athleticism of the old days and the quickness. Basketball in Fayette co has changed the last four years and all the teams are getting much better. You will not see schools lose their kids to Lex Cath anymore. Middle schools are allowed to play other schools out of the county. Middle school kids get in another 12 games at the KBA before their season starts in January. Local AAU teams have flourished because of the good coaches and feeder systms working together. There are at least a good five teams in the 11th region that can make some noise in the state every year and three teams that could surprise you.

I just moved to Orlando from Lexington. I miss it and it has been a great place to live. Its just big enough to give you big city feel but a small town atmosphere. High school sports are big in this city and that is why I liked it so much.

Is this why E-town did not make it out of the region.....Of course not. Team does matter. You have to look at the schedule this kid has played this year (Walls).

The 11th will be tougher next year. All these teams return at least three good starters. Station, Central, Tates Creek. These teams Scott Co. Lex Cath, Henry Clay, Lafayette and Dunbar will return about everyone. It was a very young bunch of good kids. When you went to a game in the region it was allways a good one tp see.

There was 10,000 people that moved in Scott Co the last six years. Good kids are gonna move in. There are jobs and alot of new schools. Minutes from Lexington and an hour from Cincy and Louisville. Its just a great community to live in. People trust me its the systym and the coaching. Kids who play basketball here take it a little further. They want to get better to get to this point. They go to camps and play on AAU teams to get a shot at this. You have to be apart of this community to understand what it means to this area. Coach Hicks called me last night on the team bus heading back to G-town to let me know that they were thinking about me. I was really close to this program until the last year and moving to Orlando makes it more special to get that call. Its the people that makes it great. All these kids have gone to school here for guite awhile. People are gonna move in. These kids parents have to have jobs. Be it Toyota or one of its suppliers or Gtown college or whomever.

You guys are making me homesick.

When you hit your shots you look like world beaters. Preperation more than sandbagging first two games and survival the last two.
