  1. Hehe, Mayfield will have something to say about that, But from what I have seen, Tilghman has got it made to the semis.
  2. Its truly an amazing story to me.
  3. I just noticed that, they have two open dates, that is weird. It has to be something the KHSAA has made them do, I can't imagine a team not playing all their games in a season.
  4. I wanted to start a thread about the strangest game you have ever been to. I know a few years back Mayfield was playing Fulton City at Fulton City, which is right next to the train tracks and I think it was nearing 8PM one night and apparently that is when the train comes through and for a big chunk of that quarter the two teams played on through with a train coming through, it was pretty strange I must say.
  5. Yeah, good posts all around. I do love to make the road trips, see the different schools' stadiums, big or small. I have made so many friends, seen so many different places in KY, which is a really nice side benefit to hs football. For instance, one year Mayfield played Fulton City at Fulton City, which is right next to the train tracks and at one game the train came thru right in the middle of the second quarter, but the team played right on thru. You just don't get to see things like that doing anything else.
  6. Which scrimmage are you talking about? I think this poll is for the upcoming game this Friday.
  7. Ok, I am interested in what everybody thinks about this game in the Alliance bowl this coming Friday the 24th at War Memorial at Mayfield. Marshall was given a good scrimmage by Fort Campbell this last Friday but you can't ever tell much from scrimmages. All I have heard about the McCallie team is that they are a very young team and they are the St. X equivalent in private school team in TN.
  8. I thought that the Calloway/Christian scrimmage was cancelled last week??
  9. When you say Willis kid, are you talking about the soph kid from Calloway? Whats your opinion of Heath at this point? I haven't heard much of anything from them on here and Mayfield has them in their season opener this coming Friday. What about the tailback that Heath has that rushed for over 2000 yards last season? I don't follow baseball, but they said he would or would not be able to play if the team advanced to the legion world series.
  10. Haskins is a good coach, you think he will be able to get past his old team the Calloway Lakers? I heard that the calloway/heath scrimmage was pretty dull and not much happened.
  11. Man, you ain't kidding, I haven't seen that many at district games, I was really pleased!! I just hope it continues throughout the whole season!!
  12. They didn't look too bad tonight, I heard they looked better last week against Milan TN. I believe that Nick Walter broke his arm, he was #31 in the scrimmage, he was going to be the back up QB from what I heard but he looks to be out I would say until the middle of the season I would say, it looked horrible. Anyways, Christian scored on us on a big pass play to start out and the extra point was blocked. I think then it was back and forth for quite a while and we scored on big pass play of our own to Xavier Shelton I believe, not quite sure. Not sure what was going on with our passing game, our receivers didn't seem to know their routes or something. We had one good drive with several running plays and coughed it up close to the endzone. Our other score was on a series of run plays I believe with Murrell making the big breakout run towards the end on what looked like a misdirection, but it was pretty dark and getting hard to see, lol. I think another one of Christians scores came from a series of run plays, I am not sure, maybe someone that kept up with everything can fill in these gaps I am leaving, lol. All in all I heard that we didn't look as good as last week against Milan but I thought we looked decent, we need to work on a few things for sure like our pass defense, run defense and I couldn't tell why our backs weren't getting the blocks they needed. Luke Guhy looked pretty good IMO and I think that the Noonan kid was just having a tough time, he had a few breakaway runs but I just couldn't get a good feel for him tonight. Not sure who #8 was but he was an athlete for sure, he just needs to work on his hands with the ball and is going to be something. Oh well, thats my 2 cents, please, anybody else feel free to fill in with what they saw.
  13. Is the passing game going to be caldwells offense this year? I thought caldwell was a primarily running team or did the one back they had graduate?
  14. I thought that Trigg scrimmaged Marshall county last week??
  15. Hey, thanks for the heads up :thumb:
  16. I will be at the Alliance Bown in Mayfield for Marshall vs. Chattanooga McCallie and Mayfield vs. Heath, should be a great night of football in Mayfield!!!
  17. I think you are right, I was reading thru the KHSAA site and I came across this document, http://www.khsaa.org/football/realignment/finalalignmentcoverletter2006.pdf in it it states this "Schools desiring to play-up. Eleven requests to play into a higher class were considered, with six of them being approved. The primary determining factor in approving a request to play up was geography, and equally important conditions for denial of a request to play up was reference to competitive ability; a move that would leave the former district with less than four teams or more than six teams; or moves that significantly impacted schools that had not had an opportunity to respond to the changes." Mayfield *could* technically move up I would think, but it does say that only six of eleven were approved.
  18. Good question, I am not sure if the guy that started it is interested in maintaining it anymore. I have thought about doing one myself cause I have developed sites on the side for years now and I feel I could really produce a nice one for the school. My biggest concern is getting information from folks, I have always worried that I wouldn't be able to get any information from anybody.
  19. Wow, I wish I had a wife that was understanding enough to be ok with me watching that much football, lol.
  20. I have heard of some scrimmages costing $5, it usually has two different teams scrimmaging. One I went to had both games going a little over 2 quarters.
  21. I am with you, I think that Mayfield's staff should seriously consider moving to 2A in the future, but I am sure they are looking at a lot more things than we know, but as a fan I would absolutely love it. It would even give both Beechwood's and Mayfield's districts more parity, it is definitely and interesting thought.
  22. I agree 100% :thumb: This new alignment has divided the state in half for 1A, with only caverna in the middle alone, its just ridiculous. I don't know if any of you Beechwood fans have ever driven across the state but it is not a fun one and it takes a toll on the players, just ask the Bardstown guys.
  23. I believe this game will be played on Dec 7 I believe, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I know it will be played at Mayfield this year cause East goes west this year.
  24. I agree, I hated to see hoptown drop from the schedule.
  25. Cool, here's Mayfield's schedule, it looks much similar with the exception that Mayfield has scheduled a couple of 6A teams but the two opponents that you have in 5A in Cov Cath and Dixie Heights make up for the 6A size of Graves and Marshall Counties. Aug 24, '07 Heath - 8:15 PM Jackson Purchase Alliance Bowl Aug 31, '07 - Open Sep 7, '07 - Ballard Memorial @ Mayfield - 7:30 PM Sep 14, '07 - Graves County @ Mayfield - 7:30 PM Sep 21, '07 - Crittenden County @ Crittenden County - 7:30 PM Sep 28, '07 - Paducah Tilghman @ Paducah Tilghman - 7:30 PM Oct 5, '07 - Fulton County @ Fulton County - 7:30 PM Oct 12, '07 - Calloway County @ Mayfield - 7:30 PM Oct 19, '07 - Fulton City @ Mayfield - 7:30 PM Oct 26, '07 - Marshall County @ Marshall County - 7:30 PM Nov 2, '07 - Caldwell County @ Caldwell County - 7:30 PM From the looks of it, we could very well be able to tell how these two teams will fare from how well they do against their respective schedules, :thumb:
