And by all rights the Titans should win the state championship this year. The gods at the KHSAA handed this one to them on a silver platter. The reclassification should have been done when the new school was a bit closer to completion. It would be like Russell and Raceland combining teams and staying at the A level. That would create a powerhouse team that should roll over everyone just as Mercer has. Mercer should cherish this state championship and know that it will be short lived. When they make the leap to 5A next year they will be reduced to a average team.

As far as I know the two mains ones that were out with any chance of coming back are in and healthy. Jacob Sizemore and Nick Lewis are back in action. Jonathan Cornwell was lost early in the season with an ACL and will not return. All in all everyone looks to be OK.

I may have dinner there before I head over to the Russell game. You would be amazed how close the two stadiums are. Russell's stadium is probably a mile from Giovanni's. If you go give me a shout.

Russell is undefeated in 2A this year as well. They have not lost to a 2A team since Belfry in the last game of 2004.

What kind of food do are you interested in? I could probably give you some information. There is a Golden Corral pretty close. Giovanni's pizza even closer. Several others a few miles down 23 into Ashland like Applebee's, Ruby Tuesdays and Texas Roadhouse all pretty easy to get to from Raceland. There is also an Outback Steakhouse and O'Charleys around the new Wal-Mart. If you want directions to any of them just let me know.

When the school first ordered uniforms for it's athletic teams, the only colors available were maroon, Blue and Black. They decided on Maroon and wore tan colored pants. The tan pants eventually evolved into the white pants worn today. In the 1960's, Principal Firestine and Head Basketball Coach Meredith wanted to add a little something extra to the uniforms (Possibly to make Russell stand out against rival Ashland) so they chose gold trim.

You know funny you should mention that. Those seemed to be the parts that made me smile the most. The ones that choked me up were the ones of my son and knowing that his playing days are over.

No idea. My son was in his dorm room looking at youtube and ran across it. He sent it to me because he said it gave him chills and that we should all watch it. My wife watched it and it had her crying because she misses watching him play.

Jones has 1002 yards passing which is a TON for Russell. Frazier has over 600 receiving. Stop the run and the pass will get ya.:thumb:

As a Russell fan I HAVE to root for Belfry. For no other reason than if Russell makes it past Corbin Friday night I really don't want to have to make that 4.5 hour trip to Middlesboro.

I think what Goherd means is that it made Russell's season that much sweeter. Realizing that the only team to put a blemish on their record is now getting ready for basketball season. While Russell is preparing to meet Corbin Friday night for the Regional championship.

I don't know about jealousy but a deep love for the Russell program. Now that Ashland is out Russell will get some newspaper time.:thumb:

I'm asking an honest question here. What did they get from Harrodsburg this year that is an improvement from last year's team? I do know that Mercer came into their game at Russell last year at 10-1. Russell outgained them 364-222 on the ground and 436-306 total. They also outscored them 41-26. That was also with allowing 135 rushing to Griffith and 97 rushing to Walker. Mercer was REALLY good last year. Not trying to comparing this years teams to last yeras, but I am actually just trying to find out what areas they have improved on this season with the merger.

Agreed. I was just answering the question. If given a few minutes i could probably name the ones that contribute the most.

As far as the Grimm-Clark debate. I am more of a fan of the power runner so I would have to take Clark.

Here is what I came up with upon doing a litte research. Keep in mind that I know for a fact that Gross very seldom ever played the second half of a game. I do not know about Beach. Maybe someone with ties to Ashland can fill me in. All are taken from the KHSAA website's records link. Points scored Gross-6th Points in a season Beach-13th Gross-14th Points in a game Beach-11th Career TD's Gross-5th TD's in a season Beach-9th Gross-11th Total TD's in a game Beach-8th Careers rushing yards Gross-17th Career TD's Gross-10th Basing it purely on stats I'll have to take Gross in his High School careers. I would have to take Beach now due to the fact he has went father to date.

WOW I would like to see some stats to verify that. KHSAA state records could put that to rest. I don't recall seeing a lot in there from Beach. Granted he is playing in the NFL but we are talking high school football.
