Eta, no way. This should have been intentional or technical. I like Keyvon as a kid and used to coach him. His emotions got the best of him and he shoved McFarland into the first row. No reason for that. Posters, overal Keyvon is a good kid and loves bball, but still has a lot to learn. Give the kid break guys, btu also Eta don't look past this call. This was a good call and this was one of the better reffed games you'll see all season.

St. Henry will be ready to play. Not worried about the time off. I think it will be a good game but I don't think CovCath has as much talent this year that St. Henry has. Ooops did I just say that..... CovCath 45 St. Henry 60

Agreed. It wasn't stall ball at all. That was well executed basketball and thats how Boone should always play. For those that think that was stall ball, I think you have to remember there is more than one way to get the ball in the peach basket. It doesn't have to be running, gunning and dunking. Nor does it have to be sharpshooting 3pters all night. What Boone did reminded me a lot of a region champion team back in 2003. They were led in my opinion by Gabbard on the floor. Popp played well off the bench and they got what they needed from Cotton, McFarland, Brown and Earls.

Eta, I've haven't seen Holmes as much as you but this is my 5th time this season and I have not seen the lack of effort that I saw tonight. As for your answer on Pittman it was obvious to everyone I was sitting with and talked to after the game that he was not playing up to his potential tonight. He kept going to the trainer and looking at his hand, but to me it was a non factor. Believe he hurt it on the goal tending call. All together his effort wasn't there on the rebounding end or the offensive end. Also there is one weakness that Holmes never ever took advantage of, that would be the speed they have. Who ever Earls was guarding should have taken him to the basket everytime. No pick and rolls and no hard cuts made by Holmes tonight at all. I rooted for Holmes b/c being a St. Henry grad I'll always look at Boone as a rival school, but tonight I didn't like the way Holmes played.

Ok thanks Eta, Kinda what I thought you would say but wanted you opinion. From what you say I think Boone is the type of team that can press some, and keep Holmes guessing. But they could show the possibility of playing some zone and making Holmes shoot well from the outside. Boone also has plenty of shooters and a inside threat that could cause foul situation for Pittman. I'm not saying Boone is the favorite or should be picked, but with all these things a possiblity and with this big game being at home Boone has a legit chance. They also have been looking forward to this game for since last season and feel like they have something to prove. If any team is going to beat Holmes in my opinion its going to be a team that knows the personel very well, like a NKY team. Holmes is very very good, and I wish them the best all year long. But I think they have been walking a tight rope as of late and are due to be upset.

Ok I have a question for Mr. Holmes, Eta Rho...What are Holmes weaknesses and what are some of the reason teams like Conner, Scott, and Highlands have been able to stay in the majority of the game when playing Holmes. I saw St. Henry vs Holmes and even stayed in most of that game by slowing it down and knocking down outside shots. Do you feel a zone is something that can hurt Holmes? Some think Holmes doesn't handle a press very well, see Scott Co and Bryan Station. I'm just wondering. I haven't had the pleasure to see them more than twice this season and wonder what teams are going to need to do to pull an upset in your mind.

This is Holmes biggest test in the 9th region. Boone can cause a few problems. Im sure everyone still expects Holmes to take care of business. I would expect the same but have pointed to this being the one game Holmes could struggle with all year. I'll say Boone wins in OT by 3........... Oh, but then Bulldogs don't lose the rest of the season and take the state title home to Covington.

Hard to tell with St. Henry so far. Not only have they played very well against teams like Conner, Dixie, an improving Lloyd team, and Muhlenburgh North during Christmas tournament, they have had awful games against Boone, LexCath, and Oak Hills (OH). To add to that the Crusaders play at Ludlow on Tuesday. This will be the first game since the very tough loss to rival NCC in the ALL A semis. The Cru has had 18 days in between games. Something unheard of in HS bball but due to the snow and other cancelations its been a long couple of weeks in the practice gym.

Like Housley at Holmes? He seems to be helping big time.

This could be a good game. Last year Newport lost on a bad call at the buzzer where a 3 was overruled and called a 2pter that lead to a loss. Both teams have improved lately but the Crusaders haven't played since the ALL A semis.

Whats everyone's thoughts? Can't believe this isn't being talked about yet.

@ CovCath. I think the Crazies will finally come out for the this home rival game. CovCath wins this and gets the Beechies for the 2nd time in the first round.

I saw Pike vs St. Henry and even though St. Henry looked good and won by 20pts or so, Pike was the one thing that did impress me about that team.

I'm sure there is plenty of parental problems at Highlands as there is at NCC, CovCath, Holmes, St. Henry, and all the other schools. But at Highlands you do have great talent for most of the years, but your second fiddle to football and you are working with possibly one of the worst facilities in the NKY.

The district tourn is at Villa

St. Henry has clinched the #1 seed since they beat Lloyd. Lloyd has clinched the #2 seed. Dixie should beat Ludlow and be the 3 seed and play Lloyd in a rematch in the bottom bracket. And St. Henry will wait for the Villa vs. Ludlow winner in the Semis of the district. Does this sound correct?

That comes with every good program in the state. The expectation are too high to go through a down year. If you don't think CovCath is one of the most wanted jobs in the Region then where do you think that might be?

In the 9th I would say CovCath, they are down right now but always have good talent. Holmes is what most are going to say, but Henley puts up with a lot of problems down there. That is just one of the reasons he is such a good coach.

Ok I have few points I'd like to make: 1. Don't overlook Warren Central. Everyone always does and Tim Riley always has his team peaking at Tourn time. In my opinion he's the top coach in the state. 2. With that said this tournament might favor a team on the bottom bracket that has the most depth due to the tough draw, to me tha would be Scott Co??? Who else is very deep? I'm not convinced that Holmes is a deep as some think. 3. Holmes got a bad luck draw. Christian Co will even be a tough game if thats the first round matchup. 4. Look for a possible Anderson Co. vs Elliot Co rematch. But then again look for a possible "ALL A" rematch between Shelby Valley and Elliot Co. Both are good possible rematch games. So would be Holmes vs Henderson again if the first round. 5. Speaking of Shelby Valley....Did anyone see the performance of Elijah Justice in the "ALL A" This kid is the real deal. Reminds me a lot the PG from Apollo a few years back that led his team deep in Sweet 16, Doug Denton. Justice is a fine PG with shooting skills and ball handling as good as anyone in the state. They also have size. 6. Either way this looks to be a great tournament again. The bottom bracket could be very entertaining. But, with that said there is a whole lot of basketball still left to be plaid. Lots could happen.

i don't think i'll go to one game in the top bracket. But the bottom bracket is a tough draw or a great draw. Matters how you look at it.
