Billy Clyde Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Since Northern Kentucky is the birthplace of the All "A" Classic. Do you think there is a possibility that the Classic will move to the Bank of Kentucky Center on the campus of NKU anytime soon.
The Scribe Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 If they can put together a more attractive package than Richmond. However, Richmond has embraced the tournament for several years now and it's foolish to take something away from someone who does such a good job with it.
SportsGuy41017 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I think that a push should be made to "Thank" the NKY schools for creating the All A, and return it to NKU at least for 1 year. If it wasn't for the work of Stan and many others in NKY we may not have the All A, this would be appropriate. Only thing I see is fear, fear from Richmond that if NKU gets it for even one year, that they will never get it back.
Uphill Battle Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I'm not sure the BOKC can compete with all the perks and concessions that EKU and the Richmond community offer.

NKYBOY1487 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I'm not sure the BOKC can compete with all the perks and concessions that EKU and the Richmond community offer. Have you been to the BOKC? Its fabulous.
Jim Schue Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Have you been to the BOKC? Its fabulous. They're talking about more than just the arena. There's a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that goes on that the Richmond community bends over backwards for. An area such as NoKy would probably not support it to that degree, simply because it would be just one of many events on the local calendar there. In Richmond it's a much bigger deal to the community at large, but may get lost in the shuffle in NoKy. Plus, I've been told they're getting new lights in McBrayer for next year, so that removes the only beef I've had with Richmond hosting the event.

Richmond would be a tough act to follow.
16thBBall Fan Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Richmond do a great job this year especially with the conditions. They for sure need again next year.
B-Ball-fan Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I wouldn't want to advocate taking it away from Richmond because they've done such a fine job with it, but what if it evolved into something like a rotating every 3 years deal between North/East/West @ NKU/EKU/ & WKU??? As we know, it started out small in N.K., then moved to bigger and better things in Richmond. Perhaps by adding WKU to the mix it'll become even something greater that gives players and fans alike the opportunity to travel to other parts of the state that they might be unfamiliar with (of course under better weather conditions than we had last week ((maybe they should push it to mid-Feb or something, but who knows about Feb as well?)). Anyhow, what do you all think about something like that? :idunno:
The Professor Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Northern Kentucky is a great area. My cousin lives in Florence and I visit several times a year. But the location would hurt the tournament imo. It would be a long, long drive for teams such as Lyon County or Jenkins. Plus, Richmond has done a fantastic job with the tournament. I agree, they would be a hard act to follow.

Speaking of long drives and the weather that time of year, maybe it would be safer to have 4 regionals comprised of the winners of Regions 1,2,3,& 4 then 5,6,7,& 8... then 9, 10, 11, & 12 and so one..., then the final four teams from the North/South/East/ & West play it out in a centralized location instead of all 16 teams having to all travel to Richmond in possible bad weather. Still maybe have it in Mid-Feb for the 4 regionals and centralized finals to increase chances of better weather. As it is right now some teams have to travel longs distances to 'Richmond' as some would have to travel long distances to NKU as the Professor pointed out. No matter where they'd have it a lot of teams have to travel. :idunno:
