I thought that they had agreed on that. Just wasn't sure when it went into effect.

If I am not mistaken Hazard or Perry Counties BOE decided not to play any in county teams due to the fact that students and fans get into the games, way too much. Seemed to be a lot of after game fights or arguments. I think that is the reason for the forfeit.

Congrats to Knott! Great season so far.

Lafayette has one of the most unique fields in the state. A great place to watch and play a game. Letcher's field is looking great. Can't wait to see it in person.

My thoughts and prayers are with Matty and his family.

He did do some basketball games last season. I don't know if he will be this year.

Coach is coaching a Summer team from Oldham County. I haven't heard if he is going to stay at Knott Central to continue to teach or seek another coaching job. He is far from done with coaching baseball. Coach will be somewhere, coaching in the future very soon. If I hear anything I'll update.

I thought that they would wait until August, myself. I guess it's better to get it out of the way and let the boys know who they will have come February.

A new coach has been named at Knott Central, Jamie Couch. Jamie played at KCC, I believe, in the late 80's early 90's and has been coaching the softball team for the past few years.

What a great story. Right up there with the two kids who had hole in ones back to back. Here's there story.

Congrats to PRP on the state championship. And congrats to Lawrence County to getting there and having the chance to be state champions. Your team played great throughout the tournament. :thumb:

I've watched this several times and it looks intentional on the catcher's part. I don't think that the pitcher was in on it at all. It didn't hit the batter because he didn't make a motion towards first and instantly throws up his hand to hold up the runner. In no way should this ever be a part of the game. I don't care if the ump made a thousand bad calls, this should not have been done. The game was being broadcast and if the ump was making bad calls, it's there on tape. Let the GHSAA handle it. And, it wasn't too harsh for him to lose his scholarship to play ball at this college. No way a coach would have a kid on the team like this kid. I hope his parents disciplined as well.

There are only 3 teams having tryouts. I know that the Reds have had open tryouts for a while and the Astros have at Applebee's Park the past 3 years. Anyone know why teams aren't doing the tryouts this year?

Estill 4 Perry Central 3. Estill will play Greenup County Tuesday in the first game of the Semi-State.

Perry Central beats Lee County 16-14. Tomorrow it's Estill vs. Perry Central. I'll take Estill.
